This document describes the design and implementation of a miniature prototype DC high voltage generator using a modified multiplier circuit. The circuit uses a low voltage AC input that is first rectified and then multiplied through four stages of the modified multiplier circuit to produce high DC output voltages. In the prototype, an input of 600V RMS AC yielded an output of 6185V DC, with an average voltage ratio of 10.76 and average ripple of 1.134% under no load conditions. The high DC voltages were measured using a digital storage oscilloscope through a voltage divider and recorded on a computer. The generator is intended for testing electrical insulation materials and could be developed into a higher voltage class impulse voltage generator.
