3 years after the fall of the Mubarak regime, it has become clear that Egypt’s road to democracy
is bumpy and long. What makes this transition so difficult? And what are the prospects for human
rights, democracy and security, in Egypt and the wider region?
This event will try to shed light on some of these questions. It will discuss the role of Islamist movements, the military and the revolutionary forces. It will analyze the main regional implications and
ask how Switzerland can support these countries’ transition to democracy and peace.
