TOPIC:
After 18 days of continuous protests throughout the country, Egypt turned a page of
its history as President Mubarak, who had ruled the country for nearly 30 years,
stepped down and handed on his power to a military council that would take up the
responsibilities of an interim period to pave the way for the democracy the people
demanded.
This discussion will deal with these events seen from many perspectives: the view
from inside with regards to the reasons and events that led to this revolution, a
regional perspective how these events are seen by and influencing the countries of
the Middle East, analysis of the reactions of EU and the USA, and finally, the role of
the (social) media in these developments.
