3. The history of Neutral dates back to the 1970s, when Sporex, a
Dutch manufacturer of non-perfumed (non-scented) skin care
products merged with Neutral a non-perfumed washing
detergent manufacturer based in Scandinavia.
As both brands shared the same philosophy, namely the
development and production of high quality (skin) care
products, with 0%-perfume and 0% coloring agents, it was a
logical decision made by parent company Erdal (later renamed
Intradal and part of Sara Lee) based in Amersfoort to
consolidate both brands into one: Neutral.
Backed by Erdal, Neutral soon thereafter became a strong
brand focused on a range of products such as washing and
cleaning, skin and baby care products.
The origins of Erdal can be traced through the establishment of
two Dutch companies. The oldest of the two “de NV
Maatschappij voor Wasverwerking” was founded by Bertus
Kitslaar and Charles Emile Jacobs in Amsterdam. The other
one, ”Amsterdam Ned. Fabriek van Wasproducten De Amstel”
was founded in 1918 by Johan Wolbers. In 1928, "NV
Maatschappij voor Wasverwerking" took over the business from
Johan Wolbers and renamed the combined companies as Erdal
Concern.

4. Subsequently, the enlarged company was becoming to big to
be based in Amsterdam and hence moved its entire operations
to a larger facility in Amersfoort.
In 1964, a US based company called Consolidated Foods
Corporation (predecessor of Sara Lee Corporation ) came to
the Netherlands following its acquisition of Jonker Fris (canned
fruit and vegetables). This was followed by the acquisition of
Erdal in 1972. Under ownership of Consolidated Foods
Corporation, Erdal was renamed to Intradal.
In the 1980s, Intradal merged with Douwe Egberts which
marked the beginning of Sara Lee Douwe Egberts.
Subsequently, Intradal acquired Kortman (formerly part of Akzo
Nobel Consumenten Divisie), becoming Kortman-Intradal and
later to be renamed Sara Lee Household & Personal Care.
Every household in the Netherlands has been using products
made by Kortman-Intrdal. The business marketed a number of
well-known household and personal care brands including:
Ambi-Pur, Badedas, Bio-tex, Driehoek, Dobbelman, Castella,
Erdal, Kiwi, Loda, Odorex, Prodent, Purol, Sanex, Tana, Tolett,
Vapona, Zendium and Zwitsal. In 2009, part of Sara Lee
Household and Personal Care division was sold to Unilever
including the Neutral brand.

6. For more than 25 years Neutral has been saying "No thanks" to allergies by working diligently to develop mild
quality products. Neutral has been declared in cooperation with the Danish Asthma and Allergy Association and
many of their products carry the Nordic Eco-label (the Swan Label).
The Danish Asthma and Allergy Association (AAA) is an independent organization with over 30 years of experience
in research and treatment of asthma and allergies. Since the late 1970s, the AAA has introduced an certification
label that is used to make aware to consumers which products reduce the risk of skin irritation or allergic skin
reactions. This way consumers with allergies or sensitive skin can quickly and more easily find products that are
suitable for their skin condition.
Neutral has been certified by the AAA for its entire product line. This means that all of its products (and their
constituents) are thoroughly checked by an allergy expert on the following criteria:
- 0% perfume
- 0% dyes
- 0% of non-functional ingredients
- 0% formaldehyde
- 0% optical brightener
- 0% resin
Besides doing research into allergies and eczema, and in addition to the work for the accreditation the Danish AAA

Neutral laundry detergents are effective against dirt and stains and
mild to the skin therefore reducing the risk of skin irritation.
A test panel comprising readers of Ouders van Nu magazine have tested Neutral
fabric softener. Their conclusion: Neutral makes baby clothes soft and is ideal for
sensitive baby skin. 95% of respondents describe the smell of the fabric softener
as neutral. That's because Neutral does not contain perfume. The fabric softener
is also free of dye which makes the product more suitable for sensitive baby skin.
As many as 92% of the testers would recommend softener to other parents.
Another test panel comprising readers from a popular women’s magazine called
Libelle have tested Neutral Liquid Detergent whether the claim that it contains 0%
perfume and still provides a clean, fresh laundry is true. Nearly 9 out of 10 of the
respondents find that their laundry comes out fresh of the drum, even though
there is no perfume in Neutral. With 96% saying that Neutral cleans tha laundy
