Benefits Of Hard Work
All of my life I've had to learn to be a hard worker. My family would never let something just be
handed to me. Growing up, I've had to earn any privilege I wanted, such as a cell phone. My family
members are all hard workers and that has carried on to me. Hard work is very important to my
family and I. Hard work is not just doing the bare minimum for a job or goal, it is instead putting in
all the effort someone has to get it done to the best of their ability. The amount of effort and time put
into something is what makes a hard worker rather than the difficulty of the job. For example, the
factory worker that gets the job done faster than their peers or the lawyer that practices their closing
argument a few extra times. Not everyone has the quality of being a hard worker, but anyone can
learn if they truly want to. Jobs that are rigorous are very beneficial in life because of what they can
teach people. These types of jobs can teach someone how to better themselves and their life. I hold
the belief that everyone should have a tough job at least once in their life because learning to be
hardworking is the most important thing in life. Those that work hard are typically more successful
in their careers than others. Employers search for people that are hardworking, so those that are tend
to get better jobs and have more opportunities. They are usually wealthier because they get
promotions rather than those that do not work as hard. There is no need for them to worry about
losing their job because they do so much that is beneficial to their employer. Having this wealth will
make them less stressed financially. Any stress they do have, they learn to cope with quickly
because they have to work hard to get a job done no matter how stressful it is. So, compared to
others they have a more stress–free life overall. They have a motivation to work towards any goal
they please, no matter how much work and effort is needed to achieve it. In my family, we have a
strong belief that hard work builds character. That's why I believe that people that are hardworking
usually have better personalities than those that are not. They learn discipline from their work and
are more enjoyable to be around because

Hard Work : A Path For A Hard Worker
Hard work is the key to success and education shows a right path for a hard worker. A journey of
new opportunities, possibilities, and challenges begins when one moves to the United States. The
first challenge that I faced upon my arrival to America was the English language. I still remember
my first day of work at a convenience store. I was looking at the customers faces and trying to
understand what they want. After a year I thought I improved my English skills, but when I took my
accuplacer test for collage, I realized that I was nowhere near perfection. I worked hard in order to
learn and improve my English. It was very difficult to study while working twelve hours a day;
seven days of week. Everyone have to face lots of difficulties while finding new opportunities and
success. Like every dreamer seeker, I came to America with millions of dreams in my eyes. Before
starting my journey of dreams there were various obstacles that I had to face. My first obstacle was
my financial status. I had to make money in order to support my family. I did not take any days off
during my first year of working. I missed many family gatherings and parties because of my job.
But on the other hand I took this opportunity of working in a positive way and realized that I could
actually learn while I 'm working. I tried to learn as much as I can from customers, friends and from
other peoples as well. While working on a gas station, my reading in writing skills improved.

Reflection On Hard Work
As this summer comes to a close I have sat back and reflected on all of the long hours, and hard
work that has went into this internship. I have been around a group of coaches that have showed me
compassion, amazing work ethic, and stern guidance. Never once did I feel like I was just some
intern that was under everyone and just took all of the terrible jobs that no one else wanted to do.
Now while the jobs that I did have were hard and they were strenuous. I feel like I was fully
prepared to tackle and handle every single obstacle that came my way. I believe that the reason that I
was able to handle all of these stressors was because of how prepared Berry has made me. Never
once did I not hear a term or drill that I did not know because ... Show more content on

After this the players would move into the weight room where the emphasis would be placed on
lower body strength so that we could have the players being able to produce a great amount of force
from their lower body. On Wednesdays we would have the athletes go through the same position
specific work that they went through on Tuesday so that those finer points and drills would be
muscle memory by the time that the season rolled around. Once they completed these drills the
athletes would have a completion between various position groups to make sure that the guys keep
that competitive edge that they need during the season. On Thursday the guys had no on the field
conditioning and they would be just in the weight room. During this day the emphasis would be
placed on upper body strength, and the would be doing movements like the bench press, military
press, and other upper body lifts so that they could produce great amounts of force with their upper
body. Once Friday rolled around the athletes had a day of just conditioning. This day usually
involved the greatest amount of conditioning, and usually put the greatest amount of stress on the
athletes. These days are used primarily to make sure that the guys are ready for the season when it
comes in the fall. On the other side of the internship, other than just have to be up at 3 am every day
to be at lifts there was also a rigorous academic curriculum that we had to go through. Every

The Importance Of Hard Work
"No human being will work hard at anything unless they believe that they are working for
competence." said William Glasser. Get a job that pays well, get a higher education, be independent
and study hard my parents continuously tell me. My family has immersed succeeding in life and
going to college into my brain and it is tradition to continue this because it will set an example for
my younger siblings and family members since I am the first to attend college but also benefiting
my future. My Quality world consist of relationships, experiences, values, and beliefs that I can
learn off. The way life is heading right now might feel impenetrable but with hard work and
dedication I know I can be an academic transformer. I consider myself an autonomous learner but I
am also blessed to be able to lean on my family with anything I feel I cannot overcome,
correspondingly they are great supporters and make me the person I am today. My mother is
charismatic, outspoken and very strong willed. My mother being strong willed and outspoken helps
me have a guidance to how important my future education is as well as my happiness. I have two
outstanding friends who motivate me, keep me grounded yet push me to not settle for less and,
repeatedly remind me that my hard work pays off. I admire those who are complete opposite of
myself and can change me for the better weather it be adventurous and frolicsome or diligent. My

Why The American Dream Is Hard To Work Hard
People are taught at a young age in order for them to get ahead in life and to achieve the American
dream they have to work hard. We as a people believe that the harder you work the more ahead you
should be in life or the closer you should be to achieving "The American Dream". That is where
competition comes in and making everyone compete against each other trying to reach the same
goal. Working hard does not mean getting ahead because they are two different things and some
people confuse the two. Sometimes you have to work hard in order to get ahead but there are times
where you have to work hard just to break even. I believe that "The American Dream" is a matter of
opinion. Our goals should be to find our place in life and perfect it, everyone ... Show more content

The more I tried to meet the quota the more I failed at it. I worked hard every day and stays focused
and some of the other ladies fooled around and joked and played on the production floor and they
did better than me all the time. I could not understand how I was working so hard to get ahead but
was still unsuccessful. One day I gave up trying so hard and decided to just give it my best and put
no thought into it. In August of that same year the Shift manager approached me and asked me if I
could switch shifts and run the 2nd shift on my own. I excitedly accepted that position and those
same girls that were doing better than me in the beginning were upset and jealous because I did not
put in hard work to get ahead I just found my place and things moved forward for me. The 3rd shift
at my job always had issues, fights. We on the 2nd shift would always just sit back and look at how
hard they always worked to hit goals where we did not have to push as hard. For us it was a matter
of working together as a team that would put us where we needed to be. The 3rd shift had more
people than the 2nd but we kept up with them and sometimes our stats exceeded theirs because we
found our place which was team work to achieve our goals. The 3rd shift worked hard at tearing

Hard Work Controversy
The importance of academic qualifications, which was always debatable, but now has become more
controversial. The substantial influence of a degree has sparked the controversy over the potential
impact on students to pay full–cost of their course. It can be agreed that a qualified person does have
an opportunity to earn high salary. This essay will elaborate how hard work helps individuals to earn
more and how demand of work pay higher rate and thus leads to a logical conclusion. At the outset
there are numerous reason how a qualified person earns more, but the most conspicuous lies from
the fact that it solely depends on individual characteristics to earn higher salary. As an illustration, a
person having great interpersonal skills and communication

Hard Work Value
The belief in hard work and its rewards is a universal American value. Born of one of America's
foundational mythologies, that all men are created equal, hard work is thought to be the key to
securing financial and social success. When all are equal, so the argument goes, success depends not
on the circumstances of one's birth–race, class, gender or geography–but on one's natural talents and
willingness to work hard. Within this meritocratic framework, hard work, not opportunity, is the
primary determiner of achievement. Contemporary ethnographies support this claim; studies of the
working–class from Silva, Hochschild, and Lamont, along with Khan's ethnography of the upper
middle–class, confirm a fundamental belief in the merit of hard ... Show more content on

Lamont's respondents ranked "being hardworking" as one of the most valued positive qualities a
person could have (pg. 20). The workers Lamont interviewed also placed emphasis on the non–
monetary rewards of hard work; conflating hard work with responsibility and caring for others (pg.
24). It is through hard work that these workers exert some measure of control over their often–
unpredictable environments (Lamont, pg. 23). Arlie Russell Hochschild's book, Strangers in Their
Own Land, echoes many of the same observations. Hochschild's respondents spoke of working hard
for their whole lives and being proud of that hard work, regardless of the outcome (pg. 155).
Hochschild's workers expressed the sentiment that work is its own reward, and that hard work is
honorable (pg. 149, 155). Notably, the working–class subjects of these studies rarely emphasize the
financial rewards of hard work except when relative to providing for others–yet another mark of the
honor hard work confers. Like their working–class counterparts, members of the upper middle–class
share a commitment to hard work that deemphasize economic rewards and focuses on character and
ability. Shamus Rahman Khan's book, Privilege: The Making of an Adolescent Elite at St. Paul's
School, interviewed students who, though economic success seems certain, remain acutely aware of
the need to work hard. Students believe hard work won them entry to

Reflective Essay On Hard Work
I didn't truly understand hard work until the summer of 2016. Hard work is when you take time and
put effort into something to become successful. I thought playing NBA 2k17 all day to reach legend
on the Xbox was the hardest work any boy could do at the time, but unfortunately that wasn't the
case. Hard work proved to be way different during a struggle later in my AAU basketball season.
That is when we meet a team we just couldn't beat. That is when we finally realized we needed to
work hard.
I was 13 years old, in the 7th grade, and loved the game of basketball. First Class Game, my AAU
basketball team, had been my team for two years now. Even though I was in 7th grade I often played
up with the older 9th grade team to keep my skill level at a higher level than the kids my age. I
stayed in the gym during the summer and so did my teammates. The basketball gym was like our
home away from home, and we were all like family.
We were dominating our competition tournament after tournament. We would destroy teams on the
court by at least 30 points, and after each game, seeing my opponents upset and crying, brought real
glee to my heart. According to Farouk Radwan, "Being unstoppable means that you will always be
able to reach your goals whatever the circumstances." I thought our team was so unstoppable, so
dominate, I even wondered if anyone one in the state could possibly defeat us. We definitely were
the best! Well, at least we thought so until we met the team. The team who finally made us work
hard, and made us think maybe were not the best after all.
The EAB Tigers was their name. They had tall guards and humongous post players. They were
literality the Monsters from the movie, "Space Jam," but in real life and just 13 years old. They had
6ft big men, and guards who could shoot your lights out. This team started the beginning of our
miserable losing streak. Dr. Claudia Aguirre says, "Excuses serves as a distraction of sorts that
prevents us from achieving the task at hand." I certainly used many excuses to try to shove off the
lost, but deep down I knew that wouldn't help anything. We took loss, after loss, after loss to the
same team. I was furious, so I stopped being lazy and realized I needed to work

Cheerleaders Hard Work
Hard Work Should Pay Off
Hard work and dedication pays off for athletes but goes unnoticed for cheerleaders. The hard work
that is put in by cheerleaders needs to be recognized. Allowing cheerleaders to earn an athletic letter
but not be a part of the Chillicothe High School (CHS) C Club, like the other athletic letter
recipients, is being unjust to the cheerleaders. Cheerleaders should be able to be a part of the CHS C
Club because cheerleaders are able to receive an athletic letter, dedicate personal time, and follow
Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) regulations.
Cheerleaders, along with athletes in varsity sports, receive an athletic letter at the end of the season,
but only the athletes able to be a part of the CHS C Club. C Club is for students who have received
an athletic letter in a sport. AHere at CHS the cheerleading squad is considered only a club, not a
sport. All athletes that are a part of a varsity sport will receive an athletic letter. Cheerleading,
although a club, will receive an athletic letter. Since the cheerleaders are not considered a sport they
are not able to be a part of the CHS C Club.
Secondly, cheerleaders have to put in a lot of personal time outside of practice for the little things
that seem to go unnoticed or recognized. Ever seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the athletes that participate in sports have to follow MSHSAA regulations as well. If sports
participants have to follow MSHSAA regulations and have the opportunity to be in the CHS C Club;
why should cheerleaders not get the same opportunity if they too have to follow MSHSAA
regulations? According to the MSHSAA regulations, cheerleaders have to follow the same basic
requirements that the athletes have to follow. If the requirements that are set by MSHSAA are not
met then the participant or athlete cannot earn the athletic letter, therefore enabling them to be a part

Deep Rooted Work On A Hard Man

after losing a battle with lupus. The piece of writing that I will be discussing is titled: "A Good Man

The reader starts to realize that the grandmother is someone that tends to get their way. Or, that they
will continue to be a nuisance. What occurs is not what the grandmother intended so she
begrudgingly goes about her business making it a point not to be left behind also be dressed to the
nine's. She takes pride in her appearance and Flannery lets the readers know this by stating,
"anybody seeing her dead on the highway would know that she was a lady." (O 'Connor). Still the
foreshadowing of death and turmoil looms but this was also a lot of writing styles during this time.
Their trip continues as planned with the grandmother telling stories to the family, unsuccessfully
communicating with the other adults in the vehicle. The children seem to be the only participants in
the grandmother's tales. The readers are introduced to another glimpse of turmoil when O'Connor
writes, "the trees were full of silver–white sunlight, and the meanest of them sparkled." (O 'Connor)
The illusion demonstrates the battle between good and evil and how sometimes even the darker side
seems to be more pleasant with a taste of charm and falsehood. Again, O'Connor always wrote about
her belief in God, and this demonstrates to the reader again how she works her beliefs into her work.

Many think their work is physically straining, yet, none compares to what Atlas demonstrates. Atlas
gives new meaning to the definition of hard work. Throughout his position of tenure, Atlas has
simultaneously exhibited the power of stupidity. His exhibition of stupidity is almost as powerful as
his demonstration of extreme intelligence. Atlas, a titan who received the worst punishment of all
from the Olympians, holds the worst possible type of tenure. When the word tenure is brought up,
many immediately think about a highly successful, brilliant professor, at a prestigious university

Success can be defined in many ways for example, success for your parents can be you graduating
and going to college, you striving to be highly educated or getting that house you've been wanting.
Academic success is something that many students want, but also something that many students are
not prepared to really work. Those who are aiming to be successful learn from their mistakes they
use them to adapt to different situations. Research says that living in poverty during early childhood
is related to lower levels of academic performance, beginning in kindergarten and extending through

In the video "Prescribes a healthy take on time" TED talks, the speaker Philip Zimbardo says
learning how to manage time is something very important for students. Learning how to resist
temptation can also lead to being successful. It is important to focus on your main goal even if you
are tempted to go out with family, friends, or soul mate but sacrificing that time to study can be very
important in the future. You will get rewarded for all that hard work in the future.
Patience is a key to success you must always be patient. Not always will you be rewarded for the
hard work you've put it. Don't think you did a horrible job on the assignment it takes time to be
successful. Bill FitzPatrick, founder of the American Success Institute, a successful person is "strong
when toughness is required and, at the same time, patient when understanding is needed." Don't rush
being a successful person it takes time and determination.
Success can be defined is many ways depending on the person. Anyone can be successful as long as
they work hard and are determined to be successful. It does not matter how rich or poor you are or
what school or race you are. Aim for what you want and don't give up. You will face obstacles here
and there, but learn from them and keep moving

Hard Work Reflection
As this semester slowly comes to an end, it is time to reflect back on the mishaps of the semester,
and also, the successes. However, before I reflect, I must first think about the individuals who made
it happen in the first place. One of the topics we were given at the beginning of the year was to state
something my family taught me that I still find important to this day. Something important my
family taught me, and still teaches me––that I still use today––is encouragement and hard work.
Throughout my life, my parents have always encouraged me, no matter the circumstance. I could
have done poorly on a test, worksheet, or exam, and they would still encourage me to better myself.
Growing up, they had to put forth a lot of hard work and effort, and through that, they taught me that
hard work pays off. As a child, if I wanted to do something, my parents always made sure to remind
me that it would require a lot of hard work. For example, I started playing softball in the second
grade and continued to play till I was a freshman in high school. When tryouts for our high school
softball team came around the corner, my father––whom was a lover of softball and baseball––kept
reminding me to work hard. He told me that no matter the outcome, I could still look back and be
proud of all of the hard work and effort I gave. My parents never expected one–hundred percent
from me, but they always made sure to encourage e me and that I was working as hard as a I could
to succeed. With college comes friendships, new experiences, and most importantly––stress. Stress
could involve several factors; however, I believe the biggest stressors are money and work–load.
College is far from cheap, so a lot of students are constantly on edge about what they can and cannot
afford. Tuition itself ranges $20,000–30,000, and on top of that, we are still expected to pay for
books that are $10–150. Several of the books we are told to buy, we do not use. Sure, we can sell
them to local bookstores, but we will never get the money back that we paid for them. While this
may seem pretty simple, some students are also expected to pay for other expenses, such as loans,
car insurance, and the cell phone bill. All of this adds up to a pretty penny,

parents of my students and explain to them the opportunities that their children have to succeed not
only in school but college. As a school, we are working hard to motivate our students to get them

In today's society, many kids are pushed to do well in life and told to work hard so that they can

Waldo Emerson beliefs is true. Although some might see this as a false claim there is some truth to it
but there are multiple factors, one being if you actually enjoy the work you're doing, like if you're
working at your dream job compared to a fast food chain you would often find that when working at
your dream job the hard work its own reward because you would enjoy your work more compared
to those working at the fast food restaurant which is not. For me personally I find this true because
of all the significant examples that back up my claim. One example being when I was little; I was at
a young age where there wasn't much to do; although there were videogames that provided me with
temporary satisfaction. So, exploring my backyard through boredom, I found a shovel which I used
to begin digging a hole. For some reason every time I scooped some dirt off the ground it felt
satisfying. I did this to the point where I hit rock bottom and continue so I dug another hole, which
began to repeat over and over. My dad noticed this and began to plant some trees and plants, which
later resulted in fruits and beautiful flowers. Although some might think that the flowers and fruit
were the reward it had seemed to me that the actual digging was the reward itself. In addition,
another example would be when at school I am given an assignment with more difficulty in
completion of that assignment I typically find myself feeling more satisfied with the actual work
than the reward. So overall, I would say what I also found myself learning that it is that when the
work is something you enjoy doing the work typically is its own reward. Now I'm going to start to
focus on jobs because that is where hard work is most involved. A good friend of mine has a great
connection to this topic; he had two jobs one working at Chick–Fil–A it was a good experience, but
he would have definitely would have liked to get a paycheck instead of hard work. The next job and
his current is a job he got at Methodist, he enjoys it a lot because he gets to help

Work For It Some people sit back and think about how good of a life they have, while others are
wondering why they are constantly feeling like they are at a disadvantage. This is what Namit Arora,
discusses in his essay "What Do We Deserve?" He often thinks to himself, "How much of my good
life do I really deserve? Why me and not so many others?" (Arora 87) and what he means by this is,
why is it fair that he receives so many rewards in life when others are struggling to pay the bills.
Well I completely agree with him; not everyone is going to have the same rewards in their lives
because of many different factors including family background, genetics, environment and so on.
However, while one might not start off as wealthy or intelligent ... Show more content on

One may have to work a little harder than another because of a certain setback such as gender or
race, however with that extra push, they could come out even more successful than anyone else. It
all comes back to the common phrase, "you get what you work for." So when it comes to letting
everyone having equal liberties and letting the amount of work that they put in determine their
success, than I think that it is a completely fair model of justice. Continuing with the idea of people
believing that it is unfair how the upper class has more advantages in life, this bring us to the
"meritocratic model" which is the model that "recognizes inequities and tries to correct for
socioeconomic disadvantages" says Arora (Arora 87). This is the system that is related with the
United States (Arora 87) and the reason that most people believe that this model is fair is because
people with low incomes or with fewer benefits are offered programs such as the Headstart program
and subsidized healthcare. Doing this would help out the needy and put everyone at somewhat of an
equal place in life. However thinking deeply into the idea of these programs, they are not entirely
fair from everyone's point of view. For example, some people are born with something that Arora
refers to as the "natural lottery" which is described as "people who are born with certain talents and
attributes– for instance, oratory, musical acumen, physical beauty and health, athleticism, good

Continuing an education after high school would be an enormous accomplishment! I have

next step in my life. Once I graduate high school, I plan to attend Pacific University to complete a

What Is Hard Work Essay
"Hard Work" Hard work is something everybody should give into what they do. The amount of
effort given puts a great impact on the result. A lot of effort really makes a difference. However,
there are times when even though hard work is done, the result still do not go as planned. A great
example that displayed this type of result is from a Chinese novel entitles "The Good Earth".
The story of "The Good Earth" is about how events in his life made drastic changes. Wang Lung and
his wife O–lan were faced with many situations wherein their strength, effort, and emotions were
put to the test. They were both hard workers, especially when it put their success, survival, and most
importantly, their family at risk. Were it not for the hard work of the couple, the story could have
gone in different directions and could have been much more difficult for the family than it already
was.
Wang Lung and O–lan are hard workers. That impression was given from them because they never
stopped doing what they had to do, even when they went through difficult times. They did what they
could in order to make the situation better. The whole family was put in a state of suffering in many
situations because the couple did not really have many options. They were indigent and could not ...

Charles Dickens' Hard Times and David Lodge's Nice Work...
Charles Dickens' Hard Times and David Lodge's Nice Work ––––"Fact, fact, fact, everywhere in the
material aspect of the town; fact, fact, fact everywhere in the immaterial." – Charles Dickens In the
early 1851, London staged the Great Exhibition to show the world, the achievements and inventions
of the Industrial Revolution. Many people believed that this showed how much better, safer and
healthier Britain was than its neighbours in Europe. People living in mansions amid lawns and
fountains, with horse drawn carriages certainly felt that life couldn't be better. However behind the
publicity and the royal occasions there was another England, not so glorious. Benjamin Disraeli
wrote that Britain was really "two nations", ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many ways Dickens was viewed to denounce the Capitalist ethic. However never to found to be
Communist/ Marxist it can be stated he was merely anti–materialistic. He felt the social injustice,
which was created due to the heavy industry. Most of the mechanized account and in particular p.20
creates such an impression on the reader to think this. Dickens believed that this was a brutal world
where everything is "measured by figures" in a Gradgrind gospel of "Fact". He has written a satire
against the foundation and the constitutions of Industrial Society. A uniformly monotonous
description is used, much like the movement of machine where "products are continuously churned
out". The language used in this chapter holds no complexity. It translates simply to the author's
purpose; generating a cold mocking account – "a satirical bite". This is the main thematic contrast of
the two texts. We find Lodge is very unclear in who is denounced, what the author feels about
society. It is very difficult to gauge what the author thinks about the deindustrialisation of Britain in
the 1980's. Therefore we find the passage to be very much gentler in comparison, Lodge is not
hostile to the West Midlands. Lodge mainly writes with a dry informative tone throughout most of
the narrative. At times his writing can be said to quite tedious. There obviously must be much more
to this mundane tone than the writer's real style. It is

The Latino : Hard Work Essay
The Latino "Hard Work" Complex and its Perpetuation in Modern America
Immigration is not an unheard of occurrence in the United States. The portrayal of undocumented
individuals, however, continues to be an everlasting issue that clouds the nation's judgement of other
cultures. The "American Dream" has been the notion that propels many undocumented worker's
ambitions and aspirations to relentlessly work hard, especially for those who have immigrated to the
United States, but undocumented workers are often faced with complex adversities and obstacles
that extend beyond their cultural understanding, hindering them from true upward social mobility in
the United States. Language, destitution, and cultural upbringings are commonly observed things
that contribute to the adversities challenging undocumented workers ability to socially grow when
immigrating to the United States. The majority of Latino undocumented workers are presently part
of the labor force in the United
States because of the rigorous work ethic. There is a point where an observation like that can be
challenged and critically analyzed to point out certain cognitions that benefit those who are not
capable of understanding the frameworks hidden behind good intentions. Through the mass media's
evolution and adaptation of social and cultural change, Latino undocumented workers are often
glamorized as the go

In Albert Camus's 'The Myth Of Sisyphus' : What Is Hard Work?
The working class, that's what it's all about. Humans are born, they go to school, and then they
spend the rest of their lives working, but is that really living their life to the fullest or are they just
following the same pattern like everyone else or are they wasting their lives on something that's not
important? Learn, work, work, and work are all they spend their time doing, and in retrospect, they
will regret wasting their lives being a little worker drone for "The Man." We have to ask ourselves if
what we do, actually makes a difference in this world, or are we just working to survive and for no
other apparent reason? The people of the world will do their jobs, but at the end of the day do they
accomplish anything? Teachers, for example, will get a new batch of students every year and are
required to teach the same syllabus as they did in previous years. This is repeated year after year.
Perhaps what they are forced to teach actually sticks in the minds of the kids and is of value to them
in the future, or maybe they just forget it and what they have learned is never put to any use.
Unfortunately, all the teacher's hard work goes down the drain. In the essay, " The Myth of
Sisyphus", by Albert Camus, he speaks about a man, a storyteller, such as Homer, who was cursed
by the Gods to push a rock up a mountain, but when he finally reached the top of his journey, he
would have to repeat this cycle, because the rock would roll right back down all the way to the
bottom of the mountain. He was condemned to do this absurd job for an eternity. A quote from the
essay says, "At the very end of his long effort measured by skyless space and time without depth,
the purpose is achieved. Then Sisyphus watches the stone rush down in a few moments toward that
lower world whence he will have to push it up again toward the summit. He goes back down to the
plain." All his effort, all his pain, wasted. A cancer researcher will spend hours on hours to attempt
to find a cure, but his "rock" will roll back down eventually as well. The working class can relate to
this. They will work for countless hours, through tough times and even through the holidays, but
what do they achieve? Kids can even relate to the struggle with

Examples Of Hard Work Ethic Essay
There are few things that are extremely important in life, and I am positive they vary from person to
person. Mine form a triangle including family and friends, education, and a hard work ethic.
Without one or the other, they all fail. Without a work ethic, I would never have the motivation to
get an education, or even attempt to prosper in life. Having a strong work ethic is a characteristic
that everyone should have in order to be successful. My work ethic was driven by my parents at a
young age and this helps me to gain respect for bosses, professors, and coworkers. It also gave me
dedication through hard work, during my high school volleyball season. Lastly, my hard work ethic

My first jobs I ever had included working mutually for both my parents. They were always very
tough on me and expected the very best outcome from me. I assumed this was just because I was
their daughter. But a year later, when I received a job as a waitress at a local restaurant/ ice cream
shop, I realized that my parents had treated me like any other employee. I was never expecting a
boss, that was not my mother nor father, to yell at me or be strict and disciplined. There were several
times when my boss at the restaurant had shouted at me for serving too much ice cream on a cone. I
will always remember the feeling of disappointment I received when my boss was unhappy with my
service. I soon learned that all the complaining my parents did about their employees were actual
issues, and that I did not want to be like the employees they criticized. This was my first realization
at how important a strong work ethic is.
The next component that displayed how important my work ethic is, includes my senior year high
school volleyball season. Volleyball was a sport I played from 5th grade all the way up through my
senior year. Volleyball pre–season typically starts in June and ends in August when tryouts start. I

Hard Work Is Not Good
Is there a contradiction between our demand that our children be honest and moral persons and our
demand that they be successful? Present the argument that there is a contradiction, and see if you
can answer it. Yes there is a contradiction between our demand that our children be honest and
moral persons and our demand that they be successful. It becomes a matter of our children
becoming conflicted with the values in which they may have been raised with. The meaning of
success varies from person to person, also from family to family. Therefore there can be very
different demands. There seems to be an all or nothing and at all cost when it comes to success in
today's society. The demands to be successful can be so stressful for our children, that they are
willing to lie, cheat and sometimes steal on order to reach their goal of success. Hard work is not
good enough and they seem not to be worried about the path of success. The primary goal is to get
there. There are some parents who live vicariously through their children. The parent's demands are
rooted in clandestine and selfish motives and leave them in an ethical dilemma. If the child
succeeds, it becomes a status of success for the parent. These actions on the part of the parent can
cause a child to feel invisible or irrelevant. Also, children can start to feel that they are not good
enough if they do not live up to what their parent's perception of success. Success becomes a way to

Importance Of Hard Work
Having a good work ethic is needed in our day to day culture. Work ethic is important. Donna
Devlin, Staff Coordinator for Boston University Center for Career Development explains how being
punctual is vital. Your co–workers rely on you to show up for work on time, and can impact others if
you are not their. Give your supervisor plenty of notice if there's a change in your schedule (Devlin
1). Also, you must value the importance of hard work. Dr. Michael J. Miller, Chief officer of Ziff
Brothers Investment and editor– in–chief of PC magazine and Info world indicate that work ethic is
declining both in America as well as other industrialized nations. Concern has been expressed that
the decline in work ethic corresponds to lower levels of job performance, higher levels of
absenteeism and turnover, and increases in counterproductive behavior ranging from unauthorized
to employee theft (Miller 2). Others have argued that work ethic is not in decline, but is different
among generations. You need to have professional behavior. If you are working in a public area, be
aware of those around you. Be courteous and friendly to all visitors, and put your personal phone
away while at work. Frequent phone calls can take time away while at work, and can make you
seem unprofessional. Also, follow the dress code. Be sure to know your organization's dress code
and act accordingly (Devlin 1). A good work ethic is needed. You need to use professional behavior.

As the last drop of sweat trickled off my forehead, I knew I did not play as well as I needed to. I had

hard work differed drastically from others in the gym. My definition of hard work was foolish
compared to other 16 year old basketball players definitions in New York. It was only right that I

I believe it is harder for youth in America to find work because of the thirty to fourty years olds are

Importance Of Hard Work
Why is hard work important? Well what is hard work? Hard work is putting in your all, applying
yourself, and giving it your best effort. Hard work is persisting when others have given up. Hard
work is continuing to strive for your best even through temporary failure. It means enduring through
hard times. Hard work is something that you can control, and it is up to you to do hard work. Hard
work in a work environment is when you exert an effort to learn, perform and produce beyond the
level of expectation. It can mean that the "boss" has noticed you do not leave work undone or under
done, you keep up with necessary changes and you don't sit around complaining about the job and
let the work slide. Self–motivated, proud of your work and willing to keep everything in play while
things might be going through changes or changing management. Hard work shows and you can and
definitely will be rewarded for it. So why is hard work important? Well what are some positive side
effects of working hard and giving it your all? You would be surprised how something as simple as
applying yourself can help you out in your life.
First off you are showing not only your boss but your fellow employees that you are motivated,
driven, and responsible. This builds trust among a workplace environment. More of your coworkers
will come to you with questions, projects, and opportunities because they have seen how you apply
yourself and trust in your ability to perform well at your job. Hard work shows those around you can
and will perform. Second, not only does it positively impact those around you, it positively impacts
how you feel about yourself. If you are doing your best and its showing, you feel better about
yourself and as a human being. You feel as if you are excelling in life and with those feelings come
true happiness.
Doing hard work and knowing you are able to put the work in will also make you more confident as
a person, student, and professional. Confidence is key to success. Someone who has confidence can
pull a lot more off than those who are shy, even if they aren't as intelligent. And if you go into a
presentation or interview type of situation confidence always proves to help you do and look your
best. Hard work

friends, to fit in with groups and to have good grade. There is this one teacher who stands out more
than any one. She was my sixth grade Language Arts teacher. She always pushed me to try to do my
best. She believed in me and saw something in me that I did not see before I became an adult. I
started looking at colleges back in April. I applied to our local college first. I got accepted but, when
I was looking at degrees it just would not fit in my work schedule. So, I started looking online for
teaching degrees. GCU was the first school that got my attention. While talking to the GCU
counselor she was very kind, patience and answer all my questions. I picked GCU because it was a
school that cared about my education needs. GCU is not just a building but, a school for online
students that can be a part of a community. The best thing I want to gain from attending GCU is the
sense of belonging there. I want a school that will stand by me, to help me through my
achievements, failed attempts and believe in me.
I appreciate what I have experience so far academically during my first online course. The tools that
I have learned are things I will continue to apply in my journey at GCU. My academic goal is to
maintain a 3.2 GPA or higher. My personal goal is to graduate with my teaching degree from GCU.
For me to reach these goals is to stay focus, be motivated and turn all assignments in by due date.
My plan is to graduate from my program of study

Hard Work Values
Study, Work, Family Life, and Support.
What emphasis do work, study and family life have in your country or in your culture? Which of the
3 is most important in your country or in your culture?
The USA puts a lot of emphasis on hard work. In fact, according to one source (Schabner, D., 1970),
Americans "work more than anyone in the industrialized world.". The reason for this is because
America views hard work as part of the American dream. I would say that America's attitude to hard
work is that, the harder someone works, the more successful they are.
The attitude the USA has towards studying is that it is a necessary skill. Students are encouraged to
study at home by themselves, and in fact sometimes required to study. In USA public schools, there
is a period termed "Study Hall" where students will just studying or do their homework (Merriam–
Webster., 2017). This shows the emphasis the USA puts on studying.
What emphasis does the USA put on family life? This is a hard question to answer. The definition of
family in the USA has radically changed over the last two decades (Angier, N., 2013). I am not
going to go into the politics on what is and is not a family, just explain whether the USA as a whole
views family life as important or not. I would say it depends on what generation of American you
are speaking to. Many individuals from the younger generation, (25 and under) grew up in
dysfunctional families. We learned to

Hard Work As A Migrant Worker
During my research of migrant workers I was able to learn the difference between hard working
men and the unthinkable hard working dedicated men who did things for their families. In saying
the true definition of a migrant worker is someone whom mostly was a Mexican born son or male
such as husbands, fathers, etc.. where they leave everything that we call home where were loved
comfortable and safe to travel with hopes and dreams and dedication of hard work to make enough
money to support and take care of their families. They go to work to be able to purchase land and
support their families and to be able to feed and take care of themselves which many men died
doing. Many of these men were immigrants from other countries who sacrificed all they had to
make something better and more useful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I find it admirable due to the fact that people don't tend to think about what these people really went
through and how they were treated through different era's and still grinned and beared everything to
make thirty cents to a dollar to take care of what mattered most while gaining freedom now how
isn't that something we could be proud of not to mention it was all different races for immigrants
from all different parts of the world that go to make a better life for their families that still are in the
making today. In doing so it sets a better lifestyle and future for other people to admire, learn and
work towards to even in the 21st century. It's not easy to move across the world and start over and
work your tail off and for people to not even know who migrant workers are is quite shocking due to
all they have done to get us to different places and work on different things to build for us a better

How Hard Work Alone May Not Guarantee Success

  • 1. Benefits Of Hard Work All of my life I've had to learn to be a hard worker. My family would never let something just be handed to me. Growing up, I've had to earn any privilege I wanted, such as a cell phone. My family members are all hard workers and that has carried on to me. Hard work is very important to my family and I. Hard work is not just doing the bare minimum for a job or goal, it is instead putting in all the effort someone has to get it done to the best of their ability. The amount of effort and time put into something is what makes a hard worker rather than the difficulty of the job. For example, the factory worker that gets the job done faster than their peers or the lawyer that practices their closing argument a few extra times. Not everyone has the quality of being a hard worker, but anyone can learn if they truly want to. Jobs that are rigorous are very beneficial in life because of what they can teach people. These types of jobs can teach someone how to better themselves and their life. I hold the belief that everyone should have a tough job at least once in their life because learning to be hardworking is the most important thing in life. Those that work hard are typically more successful in their careers than others. Employers search for people that are hardworking, so those that are tend to get better jobs and have more opportunities. They are usually wealthier because they get promotions rather than those that do not work as hard. There is no need for them to worry about losing their job because they do so much that is beneficial to their employer. Having this wealth will make them less stressed financially. Any stress they do have, they learn to cope with quickly because they have to work hard to get a job done no matter how stressful it is. So, compared to others they have a more stress–free life overall. They have a motivation to work towards any goal they please, no matter how much work and effort is needed to achieve it. In my family, we have a strong belief that hard work builds character. That's why I believe that people that are hardworking usually have better personalities than those that are not. They learn discipline from their work and are more enjoyable to be around because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Hard Work : A Path For A Hard Worker Hard work is the key to success and education shows a right path for a hard worker. A journey of new opportunities, possibilities, and challenges begins when one moves to the United States. The first challenge that I faced upon my arrival to America was the English language. I still remember my first day of work at a convenience store. I was looking at the customers faces and trying to understand what they want. After a year I thought I improved my English skills, but when I took my accuplacer test for collage, I realized that I was nowhere near perfection. I worked hard in order to learn and improve my English. It was very difficult to study while working twelve hours a day; seven days of week. Everyone have to face lots of difficulties while finding new opportunities and success. Like every dreamer seeker, I came to America with millions of dreams in my eyes. Before starting my journey of dreams there were various obstacles that I had to face. My first obstacle was my financial status. I had to make money in order to support my family. I did not take any days off during my first year of working. I missed many family gatherings and parties because of my job. But on the other hand I took this opportunity of working in a positive way and realized that I could actually learn while I 'm working. I tried to learn as much as I can from customers, friends and from other peoples as well. While working on a gas station, my reading in writing skills improved. Because ... • 5. Reflection On Hard Work As this summer comes to a close I have sat back and reflected on all of the long hours, and hard work that has went into this internship. I have been around a group of coaches that have showed me compassion, amazing work ethic, and stern guidance. Never once did I feel like I was just some intern that was under everyone and just took all of the terrible jobs that no one else wanted to do. Now while the jobs that I did have were hard and they were strenuous. I feel like I was fully prepared to tackle and handle every single obstacle that came my way. I believe that the reason that I was able to handle all of these stressors was because of how prepared Berry has made me. Never once did I not hear a term or drill that I did not know because ... Once they completed these drills the athletes would have a completion between various position groups to make sure that the guys keep that competitive edge that they need during the season. On Thursday the guys had no on the field conditioning and they would be just in the weight room. • 7. The Importance Of Hard Work "No human being will work hard at anything unless they believe that they are working for competence." said William Glasser. Get a job that pays well, get a higher education, be independent and study hard my parents continuously tell me. My family has immersed succeeding in life and going to college into my brain and it is tradition to continue this because it will set an example for my younger siblings and family members since I am the first to attend college but also benefiting my future. My Quality world consist of relationships, experiences, values, and beliefs that I can learn off. The way life is heading right now might feel impenetrable but with hard work and dedication I know I can be an academic transformer. I consider myself an autonomous learner but I am also blessed to be able to lean on my family with anything I feel I cannot overcome, correspondingly they are great supporters and make me the person I am today. My mother is charismatic, outspoken and very strong willed. My mother being strong willed and outspoken helps me have a guidance to how important my future education is as well as my happiness. I have two outstanding friends who motivate me, keep me grounded yet push me to not settle for less and, repeatedly remind me that my hard work pays off. • 9. Why The American Dream Is Hard To Work Hard People are taught at a young age in order for them to get ahead in life and to achieve the American dream they have to work hard. We as a people believe that the harder you work the more ahead you should be in life or the closer you should be to achieving "The American Dream". That is where competition comes in and making everyone compete against each other trying to reach the same goal. Working hard does not mean getting ahead because they are two different things and some people confuse the two. Sometimes you have to work hard in order to get ahead but there are times where you have to work hard just to break even. I believe that "The American Dream" is a matter of opinion. Our goals should be to find our place in life and perfect it, everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The more I tried to meet the quota the more I failed at it. I worked hard every day and stays focused and some of the other ladies fooled around and joked and played on the production floor and they did better than me all the time. I could not understand how I was working so hard to get ahead but was still unsuccessful. One day I gave up trying so hard and decided to just give it my best and put no thought into it. In August of that same year the Shift manager approached me and asked me if I could switch shifts and run the 2nd shift on my own. I excitedly accepted that position and those same girls that were doing better than me in the beginning were upset and jealous because I did not put in hard work to get ahead I just found my place and things moved forward for me. The 3rd shift at my job always had issues, fights. We on the 2nd shift would always just sit back and look at how hard they always worked to hit goals where we did not have to push as hard. For us it was a matter of working together as a team that would put us where we needed to be. The 3rd shift had more people than the 2nd but we kept up with them and sometimes our stats exceeded theirs because we found our place which was team work to achieve our goals. • 11. Hard Work Controversy The importance of academic qualifications, which was always debatable, but now has become more controversial. The substantial influence of a degree has sparked the controversy over the potential impact on students to pay full–cost of their course. It can be agreed that a qualified person does have an opportunity to earn high salary. This essay will elaborate how hard work helps individuals to earn more and how demand of work pay higher rate and thus leads to a logical conclusion. At the outset there are numerous reason how a qualified person earns more, but the most conspicuous lies from the fact that it solely depends on individual characteristics to earn higher salary. • 13. Hard Work Value The belief in hard work and its rewards is a universal American value. Born of one of America's foundational mythologies, that all men are created equal, hard work is thought to be the key to securing financial and social success. When all are equal, so the argument goes, success depends not on the circumstances of one's birth–race, class, gender or geography–but on one's natural talents and willingness to work hard. Within this meritocratic framework, hard work, not opportunity, is the primary determiner of achievement. Contemporary ethnographies support this claim; studies of the working–class from Silva, Hochschild, and Lamont, along with Khan's ethnography of the upper middle–class, confirm a fundamental belief in the merit of hard ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lamont's respondents ranked "being hardworking" as one of the most valued positive qualities a person could have (pg. 20). The workers Lamont interviewed also placed emphasis on the non– monetary rewards of hard work; conflating hard work with responsibility and caring for others (pg. 24). It is through hard work that these workers exert some measure of control over their often– unpredictable environments (Lamont, pg. 23). Arlie Russell Hochschild's book, Strangers in Their Own Land, echoes many of the same observations. Hochschild's respondents spoke of working hard for their whole lives and being proud of that hard work, regardless of the outcome (pg. 155). Hochschild's workers expressed the sentiment that work is its own reward, and that hard work is honorable (pg. 149, 155). Notably, the working–class subjects of these studies rarely emphasize the financial rewards of hard work except when relative to providing for others–yet another mark of the honor hard work confers. Like their working–class counterparts, members of the upper middle–class share a commitment to hard work that deemphasize economic rewards and focuses on character and ability. Shamus Rahman Khan's book, Privilege: The Making of an Adolescent Elite at St. Paul's School, interviewed students who, though economic success seems certain, remain acutely aware of the need to work hard. Students believe hard work won them entry to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Reflective Essay On Hard Work I didn't truly understand hard work until the summer of 2016. Hard work is when you take time and put effort into something to become successful. I thought playing NBA 2k17 all day to reach legend on the Xbox was the hardest work any boy could do at the time, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Hard work proved to be way different during a struggle later in my AAU basketball season. That is when we meet a team we just couldn't beat. That is when we finally realized we needed to work hard. I was 13 years old, in the 7th grade, and loved the game of basketball. First Class Game, my AAU basketball team, had been my team for two years now. Even though I was in 7th grade I often played up with the older 9th grade team to keep my skill level at a higher level than the kids my age. I stayed in the gym during the summer and so did my teammates. The basketball gym was like our home away from home, and we were all like family. We were dominating our competition tournament after tournament. We would destroy teams on the court by at least 30 points, and after each game, seeing my opponents upset and crying, brought real glee to my heart. According to Farouk Radwan, "Being unstoppable means that you will always be able to reach your goals whatever the circumstances." I thought our team was so unstoppable, so dominate, I even wondered if anyone one in the state could possibly defeat us. We definitely were the best! Well, at least we thought so until we met the team. The team who finally made us work hard, and made us think maybe were not the best after all. The EAB Tigers was their name. They had tall guards and humongous post players. They were literality the Monsters from the movie, "Space Jam," but in real life and just 13 years old. They had 6ft big men, and guards who could shoot your lights out. This team started the beginning of our miserable losing streak. Dr. Claudia Aguirre says, "Excuses serves as a distraction of sorts that prevents us from achieving the task at hand." I certainly used many excuses to try to shove off the lost, but deep down I knew that wouldn't help anything. We took loss, after loss, after loss to the same team. I was furious, so I stopped being lazy and realized I needed to work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The hard work that is put in by cheerleaders needs to be recognized. Allowing cheerleaders to earn an athletic letter but not be a part of the Chillicothe High School (CHS) C Club, like the other athletic letter recipients, is being unjust to the cheerleaders. Cheerleaders should be able to be a part of the CHS C Club because cheerleaders are able to receive an athletic letter, dedicate personal time, and follow Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) regulations. Cheerleaders, along with athletes in varsity sports, receive an athletic letter at the end of the season, but only the athletes able to be a part of the CHS C Club. C Club is for students who have received an athletic letter in a sport. AHere at CHS the cheerleading squad is considered only a club, not a sport. All athletes that are a part of a varsity sport will receive an athletic letter. Cheerleading, although a club, will receive an athletic letter. Since the cheerleaders are not considered a sport they are not able to be a part of the CHS C Club. • 27. Hard Work Reflection As this semester slowly comes to an end, it is time to reflect back on the mishaps of the semester, and also, the successes. However, before I reflect, I must first think about the individuals who made it happen in the first place. One of the topics we were given at the beginning of the year was to state something my family taught me that I still find important to this day. Something important my family taught me, and still teaches me––that I still use today––is encouragement and hard work. Throughout my life, my parents have always encouraged me, no matter the circumstance. I could have done poorly on a test, worksheet, or exam, and they would still encourage me to better myself. Growing up, they had to put forth a lot of hard work and effort, and through that, they taught me that hard work pays off. As a child, if I wanted to do something, my parents always made sure to remind me that it would require a lot of hard work. For example, I started playing softball in the second grade and continued to play till I was a freshman in high school. When tryouts for our high school softball team came around the corner, my father––whom was a lover of softball and baseball––kept reminding me to work hard. He told me that no matter the outcome, I could still look back and be proud of all of the hard work and effort I gave. My parents never expected one–hundred percent from me, but they always made sure to encourage e me and that I was working as hard as a I could to succeed. With college comes friendships, new experiences, and most importantly––stress. Stress could involve several factors; however, I believe the biggest stressors are money and work–load. College is far from cheap, so a lot of students are constantly on edge about what they can and cannot afford. Tuition itself ranges $20,000–30,000, and on top of that, we are still expected to pay for books that are $10–150. Several of the books we are told to buy, we do not use. Sure, we can sell them to local bookstores, but we will never get the money back that we paid for them. While this may seem pretty simple, some students are also expected to pay for other expenses, such as loans, car insurance, and the cell phone bill. All of this adds up to a pretty penny, ... • 37. Persuasive Essay On Hard Work Americans today often believe that hard work should always result in a well–earned reward, often saying "hard work pays off". But what if the reward was the work itself, which according to Ralph Waldo Emerson beliefs is true. Although some might see this as a false claim there is some truth to it but there are multiple factors, one being if you actually enjoy the work you're doing, like if you're working at your dream job compared to a fast food chain you would often find that when working at your dream job the hard work its own reward because you would enjoy your work more compared to those working at the fast food restaurant which is not. For me personally I find this true because of all the significant examples that back up my claim. One example being when I was little; I was at a young age where there wasn't much to do; although there were videogames that provided me with temporary satisfaction. So, exploring my backyard through boredom, I found a shovel which I used to begin digging a hole. For some reason every time I scooped some dirt off the ground it felt satisfying. I did this to the point where I hit rock bottom and continue so I dug another hole, which began to repeat over and over. My dad noticed this and began to plant some trees and plants, which later resulted in fruits and beautiful flowers. Although some might think that the flowers and fruit were the reward it had seemed to me that the actual digging was the reward itself. In addition, another example would be when at school I am given an assignment with more difficulty in completion of that assignment I typically find myself feeling more satisfied with the actual work than the reward. So overall, I would say what I also found myself learning that it is that when the work is something you enjoy doing the work typically is its own reward. Now I'm going to start to focus on jobs because that is where hard work is most involved. A good friend of mine has a great connection to this topic; he had two jobs one working at Chick–Fil–A it was a good experience, but he would have definitely would have liked to get a paycheck instead of hard work. (Arora 87) and what he means by this is, why is it fair that he receives so many rewards in life when others are struggling to pay the bills. So when it comes to letting everyone having equal liberties and letting the amount of work that they put in determine their success, than I think that it is a completely fair model of justice. Continuing with the idea of people believing that it is unfair how the upper class has more advantages in life, this bring us to the "meritocratic model" which is the model that "recognizes inequities and tries to correct for socioeconomic disadvantages" says Arora (Arora 87). This is the system that is related with the United States (Arora 87) and the reason that most people believe that this model is fair is because people with low incomes or with fewer benefits are offered programs such as the Headstart program and subsidized healthcare. Doing this would help out the needy and put everyone at somewhat of an equal place in life. However thinking deeply into the idea of these programs, they are not entirely fair from everyone's point of view. A lot of effort really makes a difference. However, there are times when even though hard work is done, the result still do not go as planned. A great example that displayed this type of result is from a Chinese novel entitles "The Good Earth". The story of "The Good Earth" is about how events in his life made drastic changes. Many people believed that this showed how much better, safer and healthier Britain was than its neighbours in Europe. Dickens believed that this was a brutal world where everything is "measured by figures" in a Gradgrind gospel of "Fact". He has written a satire against the foundation and the constitutions of Industrial Society. A uniformly monotonous description is used, much like the movement of machine where "products are continuously churned out". The language used in this chapter holds no complexity. It translates simply to the author's purpose; generating a cold mocking account – "a satirical bite". This is the main thematic contrast of the two texts. We find Lodge is very unclear in who is denounced, what the author feels about society. It is very difficult to gauge what the author thinks about the deindustrialisation of Britain in the 1980's. Therefore we find the passage to be very much gentler in comparison, Lodge is not hostile to the West Midlands. Lodge mainly writes with a dry informative tone throughout most of the narrative. • 49. In Albert Camus's 'The Myth Of Sisyphus' : What Is Hard Work? The working class, that's what it's all about. Humans are born, they go to school, and then they spend the rest of their lives working, but is that really living their life to the fullest or are they just following the same pattern like everyone else or are they wasting their lives on something that's not important? Learn, work, work, and work are all they spend their time doing, and in retrospect, they will regret wasting their lives being a little worker drone for "The Man." We have to ask ourselves if what we do, actually makes a difference in this world, or are we just working to survive and for no other apparent reason? The people of the world will do their jobs, but at the end of the day do they accomplish anything? Teachers, for example, will get a new batch of students every year and are required to teach the same syllabus as they did in previous years. This is repeated year after year. Perhaps what they are forced to teach actually sticks in the minds of the kids and is of value to them in the future, or maybe they just forget it and what they have learned is never put to any use. Unfortunately, all the teacher's hard work goes down the drain. In the essay, " The Myth of Sisyphus", by Albert Camus, he speaks about a man, a storyteller, such as Homer, who was cursed by the Gods to push a rock up a mountain, but when he finally reached the top of his journey, he would have to repeat this cycle, because the rock would roll right back down all the way to the bottom of the mountain. He was condemned to do this absurd job for an eternity. A quote from the essay says, "At the very end of his long effort measured by skyless space and time without depth, the purpose is achieved. Then Sisyphus watches the stone rush down in a few moments toward that lower world whence he will have to push it up again toward the summit. He goes back down to the plain." All his effort, all his pain, wasted. A cancer researcher will spend hours on hours to attempt to find a cure, but his "rock" will roll back down eventually as well. The working class can relate to this. They will work for countless hours, through tough times and even through the holidays, but what do they achieve? Kids can even relate to the struggle with ... • 51. Hard Work Research Paper "Hard work pays off. If you want to be good, you have to practice, practice practice" – Ray Bradbury. I also believe that practice can help anyone become amazing at the thing they love to doing. I started to play volleyball in the eighth grade. Although i loved to play volleyball, I was pretty bad at it. I could barely pass the ball, but i wanted to get better. I continued to play volleyball in highschool and played on both the A and B team freshman year. We played over fifty games that season. If we were not playing a game, we had 3 hour practices. At the time it felt like torture, but it helped the whole team become better. As my sophomore year rolled around i ended up making varsity. • 53. Examples Of Hard Work Ethic Essay There are few things that are extremely important in life, and I am positive they vary from person to person. Mine form a triangle including family and friends, education, and a hard work ethic. Without one or the other, they all fail. Without a work ethic, I would never have the motivation to get an education, or even attempt to prosper in life. Having a strong work ethic is a characteristic that everyone should have in order to be successful. My work ethic was driven by my parents at a young age and this helps me to gain respect for bosses, professors, and coworkers. It also gave me dedication through hard work, during my high school volleyball season. Lastly, my hard work ethic gives me inspiration for my current education and future ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My first jobs I ever had included working mutually for both my parents. They were always very tough on me and expected the very best outcome from me. I assumed this was just because I was their daughter. But a year later, when I received a job as a waitress at a local restaurant/ ice cream shop, I realized that my parents had treated me like any other employee. I was never expecting a boss, that was not my mother nor father, to yell at me or be strict and disciplined. There were several times when my boss at the restaurant had shouted at me for serving too much ice cream on a cone. I will always remember the feeling of disappointment I received when my boss was unhappy with my service. I soon learned that all the complaining my parents did about their employees were actual issues, and that I did not want to be like the employees they criticized. This was my first realization at how important a strong work ethic is. The next component that displayed how important my work ethic is, includes my senior year high school volleyball season. Volleyball was a sport I played from 5th grade all the way up through my senior year. Volleyball pre–season typically starts in June and ends in August when tryouts start. I had already been through tryouts my freshman, sophomore, and junior year, so I went into my senior year tryout not worried at all. After three days of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 55. Hard Work Is Not Good Is there a contradiction between our demand that our children be honest and moral persons and our demand that they be successful? Present the argument that there is a contradiction, and see if you can answer it. Yes there is a contradiction between our demand that our children be honest and moral persons and our demand that they be successful. It becomes a matter of our children becoming conflicted with the values in which they may have been raised with. The meaning of success varies from person to person, also from family to family. Therefore there can be very different demands. There seems to be an all or nothing and at all cost when it comes to success in today's society. The demands to be successful can be so stressful for our children, that they are willing to lie, cheat and sometimes steal on order to reach their goal of success. Hard work is not good enough and they seem not to be worried about the path of success. The primary goal is to get there. There are some parents who live vicariously through their children. The parent's demands are rooted in clandestine and selfish motives and leave them in an ethical dilemma. If the child succeeds, it becomes a status of success for the parent. These actions on the part of the parent can cause a child to feel invisible or irrelevant. Also, children can start to feel that they are not good enough if they do not live up to what their parent's perception of success. Success becomes a way to seek ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My definition of hard work was foolish compared to other 16 year old basketball players definitions in New York. • 71. Importance Of Hard Work Why is hard work important? Well what is hard work? Hard work is putting in your all, applying yourself, and giving it your best effort. Hard work is persisting when others have given up. Hard work is continuing to strive for your best even through temporary failure. It means enduring through hard times. Hard work is something that you can control, and it is up to you to do hard work. Hard work in a work environment is when you exert an effort to learn, perform and produce beyond the level of expectation. It can mean that the "boss" has noticed you do not leave work undone or under done, you keep up with necessary changes and you don't sit around complaining about the job and let the work slide. Self–motivated, proud of your work and willing to keep everything in play while things might be going through changes or changing management. Hard work shows and you can and definitely will be rewarded for it. So why is hard work important? Well what are some positive side effects of working hard and giving it your all? You would be surprised how something as simple as applying yourself can help you out in your life. First off you are showing not only your boss but your fellow employees that you are motivated, driven, and responsible. This builds trust among a workplace environment. More of your coworkers will come to you with questions, projects, and opportunities because they have seen how you apply yourself and trust in your ability to perform well at your job. Hard work shows those around you can and will perform. Second, not only does it positively impact those around you, it positively impacts how you feel about yourself. If you are doing your best and its showing, you feel better about yourself and as a human being. You feel as if you are excelling in life and with those feelings come true happiness. Doing hard work and knowing you are able to put the work in will also make you more confident as a person, student, and professional. Confidence is key to success. Someone who has confidence can pull a lot more off than those who are shy, even if they aren't as intelligent. And if you go into a presentation or interview type of situation confidence always proves to help you do and look your best. Hard work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These family values have shaped me into respecting others and treat others like the way you want to be treated. I value hard work, honest and never be a quitter. My strengths are being kind hearted and a good listener. My weaknesses are being too critical on myself and taking things personal. My past academic experience is what I currently receive at my work place. I do a lot of hands–on training for my position. These training sessions can include math skills, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and reading skills. My school experience prior to GCU is high school. I struggle to make friends, to fit in with groups and to have good grade. There is this one teacher who stands out more than any one. She was my sixth grade Language Arts teacher. She always pushed me to try to do my best. She believed in me and saw something in me that I did not see before I became an adult. I started looking at colleges back in April. I applied to our local college first. I got accepted but, when I was looking at degrees it just would not fit in my work schedule. So, I started looking online for teaching degrees. GCU was the first school that got my attention. While talking to the GCU counselor she was very kind, patience and answer all my questions. I picked GCU because it was a school that cared about my education needs. GCU is not just a building but, a school for online students that can be a part of a community. The best thing I want to gain from attending GCU is the sense of belonging there. I want a school that will stand by me, to help me through my achievements, failed attempts and believe in me. I appreciate what I have experience so far academically during my first online course. The tools that I have learned are things I will continue to apply in my journey at GCU. My academic goal is to maintain a 3.2 GPA or higher. My personal goal is to graduate with my teaching degree from GCU. • 75. Hard Work Values Study, Work, Family Life, and Support. What emphasis do work, study and family life have in your country or in your culture? Which of the 3 is most important in your country or in your culture? The USA puts a lot of emphasis on hard work. In fact, according to one source (Schabner, D., 1970), Americans "work more than anyone in the industrialized world.". The reason for this is because America views hard work as part of the American dream. I would say that America's attitude to hard work is that, the harder someone works, the more successful they are. The attitude the USA has towards studying is that it is a necessary skill. Students are encouraged to study at home by themselves, and in fact sometimes required to study. In USA public schools, there is a period termed "Study Hall" where students will just studying or do their homework (Merriam– Webster., 2017). This shows the emphasis the USA puts on studying. What emphasis does the USA put on family life? This is a hard question to answer. The definition of family in the USA has radically changed over the last two decades (Angier, N., 2013). I am not going to go into the politics on what is and is not a family, just explain whether the USA as a whole views family life as important or not. I would say it depends on what generation of American you are speaking to. Many individuals from the younger generation, (25 and under) grew up in dysfunctional families. We learned to ...
