Ford Motor Company Influences The 21st Century
The Ford Motor Company Influences the 21st Century
A man that went by the name of Henry Ford, once said, "I invented nothing new. I simply assembled
the discoveries of other men behind whom were centuries of work..." The Ford Motor Company is
an American continental automobile maker founded by Henry Ford on June 16, 1903. During the
1920s, this firm marketed automobiles that were reliable, low–cost, easy–to–operate and easier–to–
fix device for the masses (Rise of the Automobile). In addition, the Ford Motor Company led the
world into the expansion and refinement of the assembly line; revolutionizing our society to greater
heights through its mobile products. Meanwhile, the company's contributions benefited society
through the means of the renovation of the suburbs and the invention of new services. Like no other
during the 1920s, the Ford Motor Company supplied to the boom of innovations; marking its
footprint to a superior society.
Ford's car production won't be forgotten, but remembered through the ages. The Ford Motor
Company's adaptation of the assembly line gave Ford an advantage over competitors. Selling over
15 million cars by 1925, the new stylish cars were in high demand and were sold at lower prices.
This enabled almost anyone to own one and find new pass times to occupy their lives with. During
this era the quantity of cars contributed to the building of new freeways, the growth of suburbs, and
just scouting the land. Now that America was mobile, gas

A Comparison Of Henry Ford's Assembly Line And Model T
Ford's assembly line and Model T
Henry Ford's assembly line and his automobile, the Model T, revolutionized manufacturing and the
development of today's automobiles and engines. The assembly line and Model T caused American
industry to expand and also ushered a new American lifestyle.
The interest Ford had for mechanical and motorized machines started at an early age. He was born
on July 30, 1863 on a farm in Dearborn, Michigan. Ford had five siblings, and his parents raised
them all to be disciplined and healthy children. Ever since Ford was a little kid, he had great interest
in everything that was mechanic, and he would rather work on that over anything, especially
working on his father's farm. Ford had at all times dreamt of becoming ... Show more content on

Introduced on October 1, 1908, Model T started a whole new era of transportation. The first Model
T to ever be produced was in a factory on Piquette Avenue in Detroit, but the factory was later
moved to Highland Park plant due to the start of mass production of the car. Everyone wanted the
easily operated, easily maintained, and easily manageable car on the rough roads. Everyone wanted
a piece of the "vehicle of the future" (Schaetzl np). The car reached a top speed of c. 45 miles per
hour, got c. 13 to 21 miles per gallon of gasoline, and the weight was only 1,200 pounds (The Model
T np). Ford could not believe how big of a hit his car was, and how much success the invention had
brought him. By 1918, the Model T was so popular that half of the people in the United States
owned one. The Model T was sold for $850 the first year of production, but Ford was not at all
satisfied with the cost of the production, and the fact that not everyone could afford to buy the car.
Ford had a business policy in which he was firm to achieve; "lower the cost per car and thereby
increase the volume of the sales" (Appleby 369). The request of the Model T lead to the need of
more production space, so Ford figured out that one factory simple was not enough. In the early
1910s he decided to open the doors to his new company in Michigan, the Highland Park plant, the
Crystal Palace (Ford's Assembly Line np). The opening of the new factory also led the opportunity
to expand in another direction; taking mass production to the next level (Schaetzl

Henry Ford Changed The World
How did the assembly line help influence how manufacturing was improved and made it more
efficient? The invention of the assembly line helped improve manufacturing. Henry Ford found
ways to make an affordable car which was known as the Model T. The profit that was made from the
Model T is what made workers pay be able to increase. The Ford motor company's also made a huge
impact on World War II. Henry Ford's assembly line affected manufacturing, which made the
industrial industry rise and improve.

They built one vehicle at a time. It all started out with just the frame and mechanics brought the
parts to the car, but that wasted too much valuable time. Ford had an idea to improve production.
The idea was to build the vehicle on a bench that moved from one team to the other, but Ford quickly
realized it wasn't fast enough. The year of 1913 Henry Ford made history. He introduced the
assembly which reduced time to build a car from twelve hours to an incredible two hours and thirty
minutes ("Ford's assembly line starts rolling") Although, Henry Ford's assembly line was intended to
make large amounts of vehicles as simple as he could for a reasonable price as possible in order for
him to make a profit. Henry ford's improvements in mass production helped other companies as well
as the assembly line. Other companies that made radios, vacuum cleaners , and washing machines
were even affected by the assembly line because they also used the same method to mass produce
goods. The assembly line was inspired by the production methods from flour mills, breweries,
canneries, and some industrial bakeries and made manufacturing faster than ever

How Did Henry Ford Impact The Automobile Industry
Henry Ford was the man who created the weekend and we thank him for that. Henry Ford changed
the car industry more than anyone before him. Ford was the man who started the Ford Motor
Company, the quadricycle, the Model T, and changed the way businesses run. Ford made it farther
with the help of friends, Thomas Edison who gave Ford a job at his plant. Due to all of the things
that Ford did, he impacted the car industry forever. The support in Ford's early life helped him get to
the inventor he was. Ford's parents supported him in his inventing, they gave him a little work space
in a barn for him to work on his invention. Henry Ford was born on a farm outside of Detroit, Henry

Henry married Clara Ala Bryant in 1888, 5 years later the couple had a son named Edsel.
The Quadricycle was the first gasoline car Ford built, it was four–horsepower and 6 cylinders. Ford
started working at Detroit Edison Company in 1890, He created and built three models of the
quadricycle while there. Henry decided to leave Edison's plant in 1898 to pursue his own company.
"Ford sold his to finance work on a second vehicle, and a third, and so on." Ford used his money to
keep building his projects and create more things. Before leaving Edison's plant in 1898 Ford got his
first patent on the carburetor. The quadricycle is what started Fords motor journey in creating Ford
Motors. The Detroit Motor Company was started in 1899 by Ford, It would eventually be called
Ford Motors. Before the Model T was perfected made Model N, S, and R, none of them were as
good as the Model T. Ford had investors that loved the Model T and its success. "Ford introduced
the Model T, the first car to be affordable for most Americans, in October 1908 and continued its
construction until 1927." The Model T was able to be produced for so long because of its investors,
Charles Edgar, J.Frank Duryea, Elwood Haynes, and Hiram Percy Maxim. The Model T only came
in one color for the entire production of it. The Model A was the new and improved Model T. The

How Did Henry Ford Impact Society
Introducing the man who practically built America. Henry Ford was an automobile manufacturer
who, in 1903, established the Ford Motor Company. In 1908, he created the Ford Model T car in the
shed located behind his home. This car was the most popular car of all time due to its cheap prices
(compared to early automobiles) and it's constant availability (Ford Model T). Henry Ford
transformed the automobile from an invention to an innovation and it continues to affect our lives
today. When the Model T was introduced to the people of America, it revolutionized literature
forever. The idea of an affordable car for the everyday man captured the imagination of authors and
filmmakers. Throughout the 1920s, the Model T was featured in dozens of movies, television series,
and books. Even today, thousands of pieces are shown to have cars originate from this American
innovation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a child, Ford was passionate about disassembling and then reassembling timepieces. In 1879,
Ford was an apprentice machinist, where he would operate and service several steam engines. Nine
years later, he became an engineer with the Edison Illuminating Company and finally had enough
time and money to experiment with gasoline engines. He invented the Ford Quadricycle, test drove
it, and then began improvements. These improvements led to the making of the Model T, introduced
on October 1, 1908. The Model T was just a more basic version of what cars are driven today:
steering wheel on the left, enclosed engine and transmission, four cylinders cast in a solid block. All
of this was just eight–hundred and twenty–five dollars, which would be twenty–two thousand, four
hundred and seventy dollars today. The price dropped every year, so the Model T soon became the

By making the Model T more suburbs started to emerge, houses now had driveways, and there was
no more need for the horse and wagon. As more and more people got a vehicle they did not have to
live as close to their job as they used to and this resulted in the suburbs emerging. With the Model T
new roads had to be built to get people and these vehicles back and forth from their destination. As
suburbs became common houses needed to be built and rather than building a house with no
driveway, driveways had to be built to let the vehicle fit in instead of it being in the road. The horse
and wagon were rarely being used do to the Model T's popularity and availability because people
were getting more money and buying the car, so people just stopped using the horse and wagon.
Henry Ford was a successful man for his time, but unfortunately he died "at his Dearborn home, at

Henry Ford : A Major Part Of History
Henry Ford
A major part of history started during the Industrial Revolution when Henry Ford founded The Ford
Motor Company. Ford's family had a part in the company with ideas and presidency. The first ideas
of the company came out of Ford's backyard with him using a bicycle to make a vehicle. The
assembly line had a big impact that affected other companies by making production much faster. A
wide variety of vehicles made patrons be interested in seeing what kind of inventions could be made
next. Ford had a lot of great inventions still used today, like things that sped up production and made
products more durable. Henry Ford was born July 30, 1863 to the mother, Mary Litogot Ford (1839–
1876), and the father, William Ford (December 10, 1826–1905). Henry got married to Clara Jane
Bryant April 11, 1888 and have their only child, Edsel Ford, on November 6, 1893. Edsel had a
short life and passed away before Clara and Henry due to cancerous ulcers that were inoperable, but
not before he had four children with his wife Eleanor Ford. Henry died of unknown causes with
doctors stating his health was in great condition. The Ford Motor Company was founded by Henry
Ford. It was incorporated on June 16, 1903, the company had twelve associate inventors including
Ford, a few of the main inventors were John and Horace Dodge who later went on to create their
own motor company. The first vehicle built and designed by Ford was created in his backyard with

The United States Progress and Henry Ford Automobile Industry
What made the United States the great and successful nation that it has grown to be? Well there are
multiple events, innovations, and ideas that were contributing factors to the growth of this country.
Making it out on top of World War One, World War Two, and beating the great depression definitely
made the nation stronger in the long run, or as the famous quote would put it; what doesn't kill you
makes you stronger. But those events aren't what this paper is about, the genius inventions and ideas
from great Americans such as Henry Ford are what really allowed the country to become what it
has. At the start of the 20th century Henry Ford sought after a way to quickly and affordably
assemble a motor vehicle that would be viable and feasible to the working middle–class of America.
By constructing and designing the Ford Model–T, he was able to change the way American's
commute from 1908 to present day. The production of the affordable Model–T changed the face of
American travel evermore.
Tin Lizzie, T–Model Ford, Model T Ford are all different nicknames for one of the most important
productions of the 20th century, the Ford Model T. Vehicular transportation is the most common
means of transportation in our society. Automobiles are everywhere today in the United States; not
just the most common, but we have evolved to make automobiles our most reliable means of
transportation. The Ford Model T changed the life of his employees for he paid them a wage to

Not many people can say that he or she has truly changed the course of human history. Without the
efforts of Henry Ford, the entire world's demeanor would be heavily altered. The modern day
accessibility to transportation has shaped the lifestyle of the average human by allowing greater
access to life outside of his or her locality. During his time period, all of the things we find normal
were new and, to some, unbecoming. Henry Ford revolutionized American life in the nineteenth and
twentieth centuries by creating more accessible transportation for people and productive methods of
mass production for businesses. Growing up, Ford always had a passion for machinery and a desire

From a young age until the end of his life, Ford always had a fascination with machines. He was
fascinated to such a degree that his mother would give him old knitting needles and corest stays in
order to make tools (Curcio 5). Ford used these make shift tools for various projects he concocted.
His most prominent activity was fixing watches of his friends and family. At the young age of
thirteen, Ford's mother died from fatal complications of childbirth. This tragedy changed the course
of young Ford's life, considering his mother aided his fascinations and even taught him to read
before he enrolled in school (Curcio 5). Later that year, Ford had an encounter with a moving steam
engine that developed his fascination of machinery (CURCIO X). Both of these events led him to
move to Detroit when he was sixteen to pursue his passion. Ford's early influence in Detroit
provided him with the foundations for what would become an illustrious career. Since he was not a
great student in school, leaving his hometown of Dearborn, Michigan, and leaving his education
proved to be beneficial to him. He briefly attended the Detroit Business Institute while living in

The Invention Of The Automobile Industry Essay
Cars are definitely the biggest invention on history changing the way humans transport. In the past,
there were no vehicles and therefore people used to walk while only the few lucky had the privilege
of enjoying a horse ride. There were also horse wagons which were made in order to increase the
number of persons who could be carried (Lynn, 54). However, in the year 1907, Henry Ford
invented the first car model which was referred to as T model, that allowed everyone to own a
automobile. In this paper I will argue the importance of cars through history and why cars are the
biggest history humans have created using too expecific examples from history. The T model
reinvented the automobile industry making automobiles accessible for every social class. And
almost a century after Toyota car company reinvented again the automobile industry creating the
first hybrid named Prius. The importance of automobiles in history is obvious and this two creation
will teach you why. In the year 1903, there was the formation of a Association of Licensed
Automobile Manufacturers (ALAM) which was aimed at ensuring that only the licensed dealers
could be allowed to produce and sell vehicles (Grimm, 51). There was however rule and regulations
that they had to follow and failure to adhere would have led to being overthrown from the business.
During the invention of T model, the government was in the process of eliminating monopolies
which had taken the better part of the economy. These included

Henry and Clara had their first son, Edsel on November sixth 1893, at the same time Henry was

June fourth 1896, the primitive auto was named the quadracycle. Not exactly a modern auto the
Quadracycle was reminiscent to a babbycarrige on bicycle wheels but was a start to Ford's empire
and the development of the automobile for the people. Many saw Henry's potential and helped him
to find a successor to the Quadracycle; one such person was the Mayor of Detroit, William Mayburg
who provided financial support to Ford to continue his research. Generous investors such as this and
the help of four investors donating 10,000 dollars each led to the official founding of the Ford Motor
Co. in 1901. In 1903 the Quadracycle's successor was designed and named the Model A, the Model

An Innovating Era
One of the most famous innovative engineers of all time, Henry Ford, once said, "You can 't build a
reputation on what you are going to do." Between 1850 and 1914 the American people happened to
be living by this. Everyone tried creating something to profit, not to satisfy American needs, but
some Americans built a reputation doing the opposite of that. During the years between 1850 and
1914, Americans were experiencing a lot of transformation. For example, Americans transformed
from a mainly agricultural society to more of a modern industrial nation while America so called
"came of age." In addition, the Civil War was another huge struggle that the ... Show more content

Ford produced the automobile to satisfy Americans desires and to make it more affordable for the
society they currently lived in ("Henry Ford Changed the World" 1). He was very determined to
build a simple, reliable, and affordable car (1). His early life helped shape his future and the man he
became. Ford actually left home to take a job offered to him in Detroit as a machinist, at the age of
sixteen ("Bio – Henry Ford" 1). His early interest in machinery helped him quickly get a job as an
engineer. One of his starting jobs was with the Edison Illuminating Company (2). At the age of 33,
in 1896, he constructed his very first model, called the Quadricycle (2). That same year, Ford
encountered with Thomas Edison, the lighting genius, and some of his executives. Edison
encouraged Ford to make a better, more efficient model (2).
The impact that Henry Ford had on this innovating era clearly cannot be underestimated. Ford had
the dream of creating a cheaper motorcar for the great multitude ("The Innovator and Ford Motor
Company" 1). In fact, he came up with the first Model T on October 1, 1908. When that became
known worldwide, he began trying to make that automobile in quantity for sale at more affordable

The ford Model T was the first car mass produced in the U.S during the early 1900's. The Model T
had a 4 cylinder 20 horsepower engine that could reach speeds of about 40 miles an hour. They
come in different colors, but they were mostly produced in black. They were relativley simple, and
reliable cars. It changed the factor of automobiles and transportation because people went from
horse and buggy to full out automobiles. Henry ford was the first person in the U.S to use what's
called the assembly line and it worked well to his advantage. The ford model t production line and
other competing motor companies are different as ford had a different way of of building cars using
assembly lines, while other companies did not use this method. The inventor of the Ford Model T,
Henry ford, Produced the first ever model t on October 1st, 1908. On this date, henry did not realize
how well business was going to be for him. From this date, until May 26, 1927 Henry ford produced
over 15,000,000 model Ts, which was unheard of at the time. Because of the method of creating

How Did Henry Ford Change The Automotive Industry
Henry Ford was a young man with a dream to change the automotive industry. He fulfilled his
dreams by re–engineering the assembly line and mass–producing the Model T.
Ford grew up in a middle–class family. His father was a farmer and his mother stayed at home
cleaning the house and cooking. When Henry was growing up, only the wealthiest people around
could afford cars. Neither his mother or father had enough money to afford a car. After Ford
graduated at the high school at the top of his class, he began working for Detroit Edison. He started
out in the manufacturing department putting together equipment that the higher ranks had
developed. He was tired of doing grunt work and started working to rank up in the company. In

he released the Quadricycle. The Quadricycle was a car with four wheels and a two– cylinder motor,

Henry Ford's main objective was to make the automobile affordable for people in every class. The
first thing he needed to do was be able to put cars together faster than what the rate was at currently.
Ford did not invent the assembly line, but he changed it dramatically. He got the idea from a
Chicago meat packer by the name of Gustavus Swift. The assembly line allowed Ford Motor
Company to produce the exact same car quickly and efficiently. The vehicle that would forever

Henry Ford and the Model T Ford
Cars are a major part of everyday life. People today cannot imagine walking from Northeast
Philadelphia to South Philadelphia, let alone traveling from Philadelphia to Florida. The vehicle that
started the mobile craze in America was the Model T ford by Henry Ford. Hitting it off with the
entire nation, The Model T Ford was a smashing success.
People would say that when the farm was under Henry's control. They would not see any tools.
Henry ran his farm the way of the "future". Henry ran a very efficient farm however this was not
what he wanted to do with life. As we already know Henry wanted to create the first car.
Ford was raised on a small farm ran by his father outside of Detroit (Mitchell,1). As a child Henry
was very interested in machinery. He always wanted a simpler way to do everything. "His Father
would go to town and ask the children what they wanted. Henry's brother and sister would ask for
candy but henry always asked for clock wheels."
Henry Ford was a very intelligent man throughout his life. Henry was only eleven when he began
experimenting in his workshop (Barbara Mitchell,7). Henry grew up on the Ford farm just outside of
Detroit (Barbara Mitchell,12). When he was sixteen he left the farm and went to live and work in
Detroit (Mitchell Barbara,12). Henry wanted to learn more about technology so he can build the first
motor vehicle. "At four o'clock one morning in the spring of 1896, Henry, Clara (Henrys wife) and a

Well to start off my Model T Ford was created and invented by Henry Ford. Henry Ford was born
July 30, 1863, on his family's farm in Dearborn, Michigan. His product had influenced the lives of
Americans because it had created a new to get to places. Now people don't have to walk, use a
horse, or even use a steamboat. Many people couldn't afford the Model T because it was a lot of
money back then, the cost of a brand new Model T is $650.00. It had also created a new way of
producing of different products, the assembly line. An assembly line is when a series of workers and
machines in a factory by which a succession of identical items is progressively assembled. The
Model T created mobility and prosperity on an undreamed of scale through manufacturing
efficiencies at a price that anyone could afford. It is all because of the Model T we have a more
efficient and faster way of producing items. Now we don't see many Model T Fords around driving,
but there are a handful of in car shows.
Now in everyday life we really don't see that many Model Ts around. This is so because now they
are more in car shows instead of the road, only 15 million were built and 200,000 still exist till this
day. If you were to buy a Model T today they would go around from $10,000 to about $40,000, I ...

can't be explained because of how complicated and sophisticated the software is. Such as what the
car can run off of, there are car that can be driven with vegetable oil instead of a combustible liquid.
I wonder what will happen in a couple of years, but we currently do have a self driving car, which is
pretty cool. All in all the Model T was the beginning of a great and fascinating evolution of

The Model T Revolutionized The Automotive Industry
When Henry Ford began making cars, he felt that the automotive was destined to make the horse
and carriage disappear. However, to make that happen first he needed to produce a car that was
affordable by everyone. In 1908, he achieved that with the production of the Model T. The Model T
revolutionized the automotive industry. The Model T was the first affordable car for the masses. Its
affordability came from several properties. First, the Model T featured all interchangeable parts.
Parts in one Model T were exactly the same as the parts in another model T made in the same year.
Second, the Model T was the first car to contain vanadium steel parts, which were stronger, more
dependable and lighter weight than previous steel pieces and they could be manufactured easier.
Third, the Ford Company was the first company to employ a moving assembly line which allowed
them to assemble the cars faster than anyone else.
In the early 1900s, the automotive industry was a burgeoning business with many competitors trying
to out–do each other. Companies rose and fell on a regular basis. By 1903, 214 different companies
had arisen in America to manufacture the automobile. However, by 1904, at least 84 of those had
either ceased to exist or changed to a different line of work. (Ford, 234) When he joined the ranks of
manufacturers in 1903, Henry Ford was determined to make his company work. When the Ford
Motor Company began, it like many other companies of its time, ordered parts for their

How Did Henry Ford Revolutionized Society
"I will build a car for the great multitude" (Ford in Foner & Garraty). This was the promise and the
realization of Henry Ford, who created the Model T for the common man. The Model T influenced
everyday life for the Middle class, whom could not afford a car in the early 20th century. Henry
Ford is one of the most significant people in American history because he revolutionized the
automobile industry in the United States, he revolutionized mass production and the assembly line,
and he revolutionized the economy with production of the Model T. Henry Ford revolutionized the
automobile industry by creating a simple and affordable car. "He set out to build a car large enough
for the family but small enough for the individual to run and care for. [It must also be] so low in
price that no man making a good salary will be unable to own one" (Dunn, et al.). The Model T

Because Henry Ford wanted to make an affordable car he needed workers to build the car. "Ford
paid assembly–line workers $5.00 per day at a time when prevailing wages averaged about $2.35
per day" (Foner & Garraty). Most of the employees in Ford's factory were middle class citizens who
who had no job before Henry Ford came along. The main reason Ford paid his workers this wage
was to be sure his employees could buy his product. If Ford were to never introduce this wage to his
employees, they would not have been able to buy his cars. Known as the most dramatic event in the
history of wages Henry Ford increased the wages to $5.00 and reduced the work day by 90 minutes
(Dunn, et al.). Henry Ford nearly doubled the average wage to ensure that people would work for
him. Because Henry Ford increased the wage, the middle class formed. "The automobile became the
fulcrum for a new economy. It spurred travel, pushed the growth of cities outward and eventually
helped create suburban life" (Dunn, et

Number Seven: The Man and His Horses
When Ford explained the design plans for his original Model T, he was said to have validated his
creation by saying "If I had asked the people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses."
This quote came to be one of the most prominent from the man, especially because it is still used
today to demonstrate his progressive thought process. Although, ... Show more content on

Not so much. In fact, the first four years' worth of models didn't even offer black as a color option.
The only available choices were grey, green, blue, or red.
Number Three: The Assembly Line Genius
From an early age, every American child is taught that Henry Ford was the first to revolutionize the
car–building process on assembly lines. If you pay attention to the fine print, however, he was only
the first to do it in America. The Benz company in Germany had been producing loads of vehicles in
this fashion before Ford got to the concept, and they were the largest producer of automobiles
throughout the world by 1900.
Number Two: The Ford Legacy
The one thing that really made this innovative man famous was his worker wages. In a time of poor
wages and working conditions, Ford realized that a monotonous job on an assembly line was no
better than any other job. So, he made the wages better with his token "five–dollar–day". He paid his
workers enough to afford his products, but not from his generosity. In truth, it was simply more
financially efficient to hire less workers for longer times on higher

perfect time for Henry Ford to show his success. Henry Ford, an entrepreneur and innovator,
established Ford Motors Company which led to the moving Assembly Line that made a significant
impact on the manufacturing of cars in the country. Henry Ford as a young child displayed an
interest for mechanical innovation. He had a passion of taking apart watches and then repairing
them. He didnt want to have a life on the farm ( Weisberger 128). He wanted to live in the city
where he could accomplish his desire to invent a motor car that would work and to mass–produce it
so cheap that it would be accessible to the common man (Fanning 141). In 1890, he got a job as an

With this drop in its price and more people buying the car, the employees wage went up

Analysis Of The Term Captains Of Industry
Thomas Carlyle coined the term Captains of Industry in his 1843 book "Past and Present" to
describe forerunners in business which had accumulated vast personal fortunes and contributed
positively to the country through some act. Amidst the second industrial revolution in America,
names such as Vanderbilt (Rail), Carnegie (Steel), Rockefeller (Oil), Morgan (Electricity/Finance),
and of course Henry Ford (Automobile) are often lionized for their achievements in building
America into a modern day power. On the contrary, many of these same figures are also considered
Robber Barons; industrialists that routinely cheat investors and consumers, monopolizing activities
and perverting government officials by any means for the exploitation of profit. All that is, but
Henry Ford.
Indeed, damaging arguments could be made against the former Edison Illuminating Company
machinist and Ford Motor Company founder, born July 30th, 1863. Religious activists could call
Ford's anti–Semitic comments through his ownership of The Dearborn Independent as the fuel to
Hitler's "Final Solution." Some allege, although Ford deserves credit for his factories' assistance in
America's armament of the Allies in World War II, but he also helped Ford subsidiaries re–tool their
assembly lines for the Nazi war efforts in Germany as well. Environmentalists have a strong claim
that Ford's carbon footprint contributions are the root cause of the world's current climate condition.

The Work Of Henry Ford Made A Lasting Impact On America Essay
When Americans get into their vehicles every day to go to work or school, they do not normally
think about how much transportation has evolved over the years. People started out walking and
then later moved to horse and buggies. During the early 1800's, railroads were being built from east
to west in this country and trains began to take over. As cities grew, people looked for ways to travel
more efficiently. The work of Henry Ford made a lasting impact on America in regards to both
transportation and manufacturing. Henry Ford was much like other children growing up. Ford was
born on July 30, 1863 in Dearborn, Michigan. He was raised on a farm and others could tell he
would be extremely successful in his future. In order to learn more about the engines and be more

machines and went the extra mile to learn more about them. He was willing to risk it all just to

of pursuing his dream of machines when he left the family farm in 1879 to work at a car company in

were mostly complicated machines which mostly required a chauffeur knowledgeable on how to

It first took around more than 12 hours to build one car to 2 hours and about 30 minutes. Henry Ford

This required the franchise dealers to pay for the automobiles when they were received instead of
when they were sold. This helped him have additional capital to expand his manufacturing

Ford's Effect On Manufacturing Industry
On July 30, 1863, an industrialist was born, neither him nor anyone for that matter, knew he was to
forever change the world, he was known as Henry Ford (1863–1947). Ford grew up on his parents '
farm in Michigan. He loved to work on the farm machinery. He was good at fixing things and could
even repair watches. Although Ford did not invent the automobile but his introduction of the Model
T automobile revolutionized transportation and American industry, his inventions are still marveled
in the modern world today. Henry Ford installed the World's first moving assembly line in
December 1913. Ford and the assembly line improved work conditions, revolutionized production
and revolutionized American society.
Ford' effect on manufacturing reaches worldwide. Prior to the Industrial Revolution people were
largely self–reliant, but the industrial revolution transported increased separation of labor, and this
separation of labor got a specialization, which carried increased productivity. Specialization,
however, decreased self–sufficiency and people became gradually dependent on one another. Which
was the process of socialization of labor. Ford was capable of making a reliable and low–cost auto
because of his ground–breaking, assembly line. The Assembly line is a sequence of workers,
machines, and parts down which an incomplete product passes, each worker performing a
procedure, until the product is assembled (Mass Production). The assembly line was undoubtedly

Although that amount of money may not appear to be a lot to the human eye as of now back in the

previous or other jobs. Ford pushing to produce more vehicles truly benefited everyone who either
worked with him or was a consumer of his product. Seeing him pave the way for future business
owners by applying his techniques shows how much of an impact he had. The Ford Motor Company
is still alive and well till this day producing more and more vehicles every year and have not seem to
have lost a step. The way the cars model looks today varies from trucks, SUVs and convertibles with
a ton of technology imposed within the cars. If you look back to the first Ford vehicle, it came with
its classy look and simple build versus now which has multiple choices of colors and models which
really can create interest for the consumer. Henry Ford maneuvers have clearly changed how we as
people get to different regions but also showed us how we as people can strive to create great things
to not only benefit ourselves

  • 1. Ford Motor Company Influences The 21st Century The Ford Motor Company Influences the 21st Century A man that went by the name of Henry Ford, once said, "I invented nothing new. I simply assembled the discoveries of other men behind whom were centuries of work..." The Ford Motor Company is an American continental automobile maker founded by Henry Ford on June 16, 1903. During the 1920s, this firm marketed automobiles that were reliable, low–cost, easy–to–operate and easier–to– fix device for the masses (Rise of the Automobile). In addition, the Ford Motor Company led the world into the expansion and refinement of the assembly line; revolutionizing our society to greater heights through its mobile products. Like no other during the 1920s, the Ford Motor Company supplied to the boom of innovations; marking its footprint to a superior society. Ford's car production won't be forgotten, but remembered through the ages. The Ford Motor Company's adaptation of the assembly line gave Ford an advantage over competitors. • 3. A Comparison Of Henry Ford's Assembly Line And Model T Ford's assembly line and Model T Henry Ford's assembly line and his automobile, the Model T, revolutionized manufacturing and the development of today's automobiles and engines. The assembly line and Model T caused American industry to expand and also ushered a new American lifestyle. The interest Ford had for mechanical and motorized machines started at an early age. He was born on July 30, 1863 on a farm in Dearborn, Michigan. Ford had five siblings, and his parents raised them all to be disciplined and healthy children. Ever since Ford was a little kid, he had great interest in everything that was mechanic, and he would rather work on that over anything, especially working on his father's farm. Ford had at all times dreamt of becoming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Introduced on October 1, 1908, Model T started a whole new era of transportation. The first Model T to ever be produced was in a factory on Piquette Avenue in Detroit, but the factory was later moved to Highland Park plant due to the start of mass production of the car. Everyone wanted the easily operated, easily maintained, and easily manageable car on the rough roads. Everyone wanted a piece of the "vehicle of the future" (Schaetzl np). The car reached a top speed of c. 45 miles per hour, got c. 13 to 21 miles per gallon of gasoline, and the weight was only 1,200 pounds (The Model T np). Ford could not believe how big of a hit his car was, and how much success the invention had brought him. By 1918, the Model T was so popular that half of the people in the United States owned one. The Model T was sold for $850 the first year of production, but Ford was not at all satisfied with the cost of the production, and the fact that not everyone could afford to buy the car. Ford had a business policy in which he was firm to achieve; "lower the cost per car and thereby increase the volume of the sales" (Appleby 369). The request of the Model T lead to the need of more production space, so Ford figured out that one factory simple was not enough. In the early 1910s he decided to open the doors to his new company in Michigan, the Highland Park plant, the Crystal Palace (Ford's Assembly Line np). The opening of the new factory also led the opportunity to expand in another direction; taking mass production to the next level (Schaetzl ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. How Did Henry Ford Change The World Henry Ford Changed The World How did the assembly line help influence how manufacturing was improved and made it more efficient? The invention of the assembly line helped improve manufacturing. Henry Ford found ways to make an affordable car which was known as the Model T. The profit that was made from the Model T is what made workers pay be able to increase. The Ford motor company's also made a huge impact on World War II. Henry Ford's assembly line affected manufacturing, which made the industrial industry rise and improve. In Greenfield Village, Michigan was where Henry Ford was born("American Science Leaders"). As a young kid, Henry grew up on a small farm. Although Henry's mother had quite a busy life, having to raise four kids ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They built one vehicle at a time. It all started out with just the frame and mechanics brought the parts to the car, but that wasted too much valuable time. Ford had an idea to improve production. The idea was to build the vehicle on a bench that moved from one team to the other, but Ford quickly realized it wasn't fast enough. The year of 1913 Henry Ford made history. He introduced the assembly which reduced time to build a car from twelve hours to an incredible two hours and thirty minutes ("Ford's assembly line starts rolling") Although, Henry Ford's assembly line was intended to make large amounts of vehicles as simple as he could for a reasonable price as possible in order for him to make a profit. Henry ford's improvements in mass production helped other companies as well as the assembly line. Other companies that made radios, vacuum cleaners , and washing machines were even affected by the assembly line because they also used the same method to mass produce goods. The assembly line was inspired by the production methods from flour mills, breweries, canneries, and some industrial bakeries and made manufacturing faster than ever ... Ford was the man who started the Ford Motor Company, the quadricycle, the Model T, and changed the way businesses run. Ford made it farther with the help of friends, Thomas Edison who gave Ford a job at his plant. Due to all of the things that Ford did, he impacted the car industry forever. The support in Ford's early life helped him get to the inventor he was. Ford's parents supported him in his inventing, they gave him a little work space in a barn for him to work on his invention. Henry married Clara Ala Bryant in 1888, 5 years later the couple had a son named Edsel. The Quadricycle was the first gasoline car Ford built, it was four–horsepower and 6 cylinders. "Ford sold his to finance work on a second vehicle, and a third, and so on." Ford used his money to keep building his projects and create more things. Before leaving Edison's plant in 1898 Ford got his first patent on the carburetor. The quadricycle is what started Fords motor journey in creating Ford Motors. The Detroit Motor Company was started in 1899 by Ford, It would eventually be called Ford Motors. Before the Model T was perfected made Model N, S, and R, none of them were as good as the Model T. Ford had investors that loved the Model T and its success. "Ford introduced the Model T, the first car to be affordable for most Americans, in October 1908 and continued its construction until 1927." The Model T was able to be produced for so long because of its investors, Charles Edgar, J.Frank Duryea, Elwood Haynes, and Hiram Percy Maxim. • 9. How Did Henry Ford Impact Society Introducing the man who practically built America. Henry Ford was an automobile manufacturer who, in 1903, established the Ford Motor Company. In 1908, he created the Ford Model T car in the shed located behind his home. This car was the most popular car of all time due to its cheap prices (compared to early automobiles) and it's constant availability (Ford Model T). Henry Ford transformed the automobile from an invention to an innovation and it continues to affect our lives today. When the Model T was introduced to the people of America, it revolutionized literature forever. The idea of an affordable car for the everyday man captured the imagination of authors and filmmakers. In 1879, Ford was an apprentice machinist, where he would operate and service several steam engines. Nine years later, he became an engineer with the Edison Illuminating Company and finally had enough time and money to experiment with gasoline engines. He invented the Ford Quadricycle, test drove it, and then began improvements. These improvements led to the making of the Model T, introduced on October 1, 1908. The Model T was just a more basic version of what cars are driven today: steering wheel on the left, enclosed engine and transmission, four cylinders cast in a solid block. All of this was just eight–hundred and twenty–five dollars, which would be twenty–two thousand, four hundred and seventy dollars today. In the 1920s Henry Ford invented the Ford Motor Company, the Model T, and changed the world. Inspiration and motivation is what kept Henry Ford going. As more and more people got a vehicle they did not have to live as close to their job as they used to and this resulted in the suburbs emerging. With the Model T new roads had to be built to get people and these vehicles back and forth from their destination. As suburbs became common houses needed to be built and rather than building a house with no driveway, driveways had to be built to let the vehicle fit in instead of it being in the road. The horse and wagon were rarely being used do to the Model T's popularity and availability because people were getting more money and buying the car, so people just stopped using the horse and wagon. • 13. How Did Henry Ford Change The World Henry Ford made the Model T Ford. It was made on the Piquette Avenue plant in Detroit. On October 1, 1908 and 1927, 15 million Model T cars were made. Henry Ford's Model T changed the world of automobiles. The Model T was a car for ordinary people to drive everyday. It has a 22– horsepower, four–cylinder engine. Without the efforts of Henry Ford, the entire world's demeanor would be heavily altered. The modern day accessibility to transportation has shaped the lifestyle of the average human by allowing greater access to life outside of his or her locality. During his time period, all of the things we find normal were new and, to some, unbecoming. In the past, there were no vehicles and therefore people used to walk while only the few lucky had the privilege of enjoying a horse ride. There were also horse wagons which were made in order to increase the number of persons who could be carried (Lynn, 54). However, in the year 1907, Henry Ford invented the first car model which was referred to as T model, that allowed everyone to own a automobile. In this paper I will argue the importance of cars through history and why cars are the biggest history humans have created using too expecific examples from history. The T model reinvented the automobile industry making automobiles accessible for every social class. And almost a century after Toyota car company reinvented again the automobile industry creating the first hybrid named Prius. The importance of automobiles in history is obvious and this two creation will teach you why. In the year 1903, there was the formation of a Association of Licensed Automobile Manufacturers (ALAM) which was aimed at ensuring that only the licensed dealers could be allowed to produce and sell vehicles (Grimm, 51). There was however rule and regulations that they had to follow and failure to adhere would have led to being overthrown from the business. Amidst the second industrial revolution in America, names such as Vanderbilt (Rail), Carnegie (Steel), Rockefeller (Oil), Morgan (Electricity/Finance), and of course Henry Ford (Automobile) are often lionized for their achievements in building America into a modern day power. All that is, but Henry Ford. Indeed, damaging arguments could be made against the former Edison Illuminating Company machinist and Ford Motor Company founder, born July 30th, 1863. Religious activists could call Ford's anti–Semitic comments through his ownership of The Dearborn Independent as the fuel to Hitler's "Final Solution." Some allege, although Ford deserves credit for his factories' assistance in America's armament of the Allies in World War II, but he also helped Ford subsidiaries re–tool their assembly lines for the Nazi war efforts in Germany as well.
