Comparing Venus And The Lute Player
The two pieces of art that I have chosen were "Venus and the Lute Player" by Titian (Tiziano Vecellio) painted from 1565 to 1570 with oil on canvas
and "Venus and Cupid" by Lorenzo Lotto late 1520s with oil on canvas. Though they were done some forty years apart, both pieces are of similar
themes, but different compositions and bearing differing styles. Such differing styles also can illicit different sets of emotions and enjoyment, from its
color to how each subject is presented within the piece. Both paintings offer different levels of observation depending on the implied distance of the
subject within them. First we have "Venus and Cupid" by the Venetian artist Lorenzo Lotto, who has created a marriagepainting which is the visual
equivalent of a marriage poem. These romantic, ancient poems or songs were performed at weddings and often began with verses in which Venus was
awakened to bless the bride and groom. Through these blessings, their love and dedication to their partner was celebrated. During the renaissance there
was a widespread revival of the form. Which makes sense as the renaissance was a revolutionary time for artistic liberties and humanities. Lotto's

Though they were done some forty years apart, both pieces are of similar themes, but different compositions and bearing differing styles. Such differing styles also can illicit different sets of emotions and enjoyment, from its color to how each subject is presented within the piece. Both paintings offer different levels of observation depending on the implied distance of the subject within them. First we have "Venus and Cupid" by the Venetian artist Lorenzo Lotto, who has created a marriagepainting which is the visual equivalent of a marriage poem.
