Argumentative Essay On Snowflakes
Many adults from older generations like the Baby Boomers (born 1946 –1964) and Generation X
(born 1961–1981) have been accusing Millennial's of being snowflakes. You may be used to the
word snowflake being defined as "one of the small, feathery masses or flakes in which snow falls"
(Snowflake). According to Oxford Dictionaries, a snowflake today is "An overly sensitive or easily
offended person, or one who believes they are entitled to special treatment on account of their
supposedly unique characteristics"(Snowflake). There have been many arguments on Millennial's
and whether they have become, as Claire Fox indicated, "Generation Snowflake"(Fox, P.16).
Authors like, Simon Sinek, Mark Hill, Marc A. Thiessen, Jessica M. Goldstein, and Claire ... Show

A lot of people believe the term "snowflake" originated in Chuck Palahniuk's book, Fight Club,
when a member of Project Mayhem tells the other members, "You are not a beautiful and unique
snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everyone, and we are all part of the same
compost pile"(No, 'Snowflake' as a Slang Term Did Not Begin with 'Fight Club', P. 5). But, this term
originated as early as the 1860s when it was defined as, "a person who was opposed to the abolition
of slavery–the implication of the name being that such people valued white people over black
people"(No, 'Snowflake' as a Slang Term Did Not Begin with 'Fight Club', P.2). A little over a
millennium later, in the 1970s, this term was used to describe "a white man or for a black man who
was seen as acting white"(No, 'Snowflake' as a Slang Term Did Not Begin with 'Fight Club', P.8).
The term snowflake has evolved through a long period of time and it is now known to be a highly
offensive insult. There have been many authors who have written their thoughts on Millennial's,
what a snowflake is defined to be, and if todays generation can be considered "Generation
Snowflake" (Fox, P.16). According to "Millennials in the Workplace", Simon Sinek states that a
snowflake is "entitled and narcissistic, self interested, unfocused and lazy"(Sinek, P.1). Sinek blames
Millennial's for being too hard to work with and does not use credible information to back this

Self Worth Research Paper
We all have our heroes, our idols, we could even call them our gods; their influence to us is
superficial, their greatness creates some of the best moments of our lives, we feel an emotional
connection with them even though we have never met them. These are celebrities, media
personalities, politicians, athletes and even fictional characters whom through the different forms of
media collectively create and become the foundations of pop culture which heavily influence our
lives from fashion, morality, political views, language and even our personalities. Unlike other
generations, the advances in technology and media platforms have provided unlimited access to

able to feel what's right in situations of morality; evidently their narcissistic tendency is shown in
their sense of morality which makes them believe they will always feel what is right (Josh & Joel

1992, with Millennials wanting fewer responsibilities in their jobs or that more people in their 20s

Photoshop: Affecting The History
Photoshop is lying to us As the rising of the technology, most of the pictures are having a lot of
Photoshop today. Photoshop is a tool which people can modify and edit pictures online. People often
modify the pictures because they want it to be perfect and attract more consumers to buy their
products, it used for advertisement such as magazines. Although photoshopping can be an art craft
in some ways, it is developing the ability of imagination for a person's interest. But it is not ok to

Kevin Everon Cinema
Black people have played an important role in American history and made great contributions to the
development on economy and culture of the U.S. This week watching Kevin Everson's series short
films, I have a deeper understanding of ethnography cinema distinguished from documentary. His
film focusing on the subject matter of African American, transfers their ordinary life into a
sublimation of nationality. He uses found footage in According To and Something Else to practice
its ethnographic interaction between image and audiences. The language of Everson's camera
consists of pure cinema since his film is made without gorgeous modification nor dazzling
techniques. He sincerely shows audiences the neglected histories of ... Show more content on

Everson showing found footage in nowadays draws back audience attention to the crisis issue of
African American. The angle of the camera is normal, but the subjective shot focusing on Miss
Black Roanoke talking is valuable. The camera is static, fully framing on the reaction of the lady.
The position of two people exposes their social status. The standing White reporter is higher than the
sitting Black lady. The only dynamic movement in the still shot is the lady's facial expression and
head movement. The word "Proud" she said in the interview is contrast with her reaction. She
lowering her head serval times and shifting her eyes around exposes that she lacks of self–
confidence as an African American. As she said, "Black contestants do not have a prayer of winning
in regular pageants. Only segregated contests offer black women a chance of feeling up." The fund
footage shows the audiences the direct point of view of that the African American is still struggling
in the history and contemporary life. Some might be ignored that can find from the film that the

Alternative Responses
When I find myself in an argument that seems to have no solution, when I feel there are unspoken
motivations on the side of my conversational partner inflaming their irritation, I see that I have the
power to change course. If I have this recognition, I can return to a place of more calm and ask,
"What is upsetting you right now? What do you feel is true or important that isn't getting across? To
resolve this I want to really understand how you feel."
Feelings are a point of contention right now. From millenials and their feelings about the workplace
to the vocalization and protest of "social justice warriors" to the presence of alternative facts or
"truthiness"––what is felt or perceived to be true rather than what data supports.

This means involving feelings. How do people feel, really? What hurts or angers them? Why do
they feel this way? What memories do they have leading to these feelings? How might their feelings
influence their actions? That is the beginning of radical love and compassionate politics. These are
the things considered by a good parent or friend or lover. We put down our defenses and irritation to
consider why they act the way they do when they surprise or disappoint us, because we love them
and believe them worthy of this generosity. Sometimes we decide, "Oh, it's not her fault, her mother
had severe OCD so when she's under stress she gets a little anxious about clutter. It's not that big of
a deal." Then sometimes we decide it's too severe and say instead, "I know she gets anxious about
clutter because of her upbringing, but it's really getting out of control and damaging our relationship.
What would help her heal that anxiety?" And then you begin the conversation of compromise. Either
way, that consideration, awareness, and generosity will go a long way helping each of you find a

To Build A Fire 'And The Lowest Animal'
"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first"
(Mark Twain). Realism is a faithful representation of reality that isn't swayed by unconscious bias or
idealistic aims. Realism arose in literature from the period of the civil war where authors showed
more truthiness in their writings (Campbell). Jack London and Mark Twain convey the theme that
humans have faults through their different styles of writing in their works, "To Build a Fire" and
"The Lowest Animal". To begin, London utilizes naturalism to give explicit details of the character's
limitations. For example, "The man's red beard and moustache were likewise frosted... If he fell
down it would shatter itself like glass... But he did not mind the appendage" (London, 91–98). The
man seems to overlook the warnings of the cold and proceeds to keep traveling with no fire that
escalates his safety. His limited abilities against nature are further shown in the following lines, "...
though he could not feel it with his fingers... ,in his consciousness, was the knowledge that each
instant his feet were freezing...:" (London, 351–355). The man's disregard of the old man's advice
and his failed estimation resulted in the numbness in his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Notably, these lines best show his mockery, "He is the only animal that loves his neighbor as
himself, and cuts his throat if his ideology isn't straight." (Twain, 142–143). Twain is indicating that
humans are kind to love but are willing to kill if their ideology don't complement each other. This is
a true flaw and contradiction of human nature. Twain further emphasize his satire in these lines, "In
an hour I taught a cat and dog to be friends" (Twain, 161). He satirizes how different animal species
are capable enough to get along better than humans to convey human nature as being savage
animals. In essence, human's true nature is released through Twain's

Kenneth Burkes The Philosophy Of Literary Form
In Kenneth Burkes essay "The Philosophy Of Literary Form" he looks at the differences between
Semantic and Poetic language. One–way "semantic ideas" are seen, as sub–classifications that
within the right operations and the right process together make the "total" act (141). As "poetic
meaning" goes this looks at more of the attitude that goes into the "implicit programs of action"
(143). Semantic ideals are the "idea" that there is an organizational process that works through "sub–
classifications", for example of mail. When sending a piece of mail, a person has to write an address
to who will be receiving it. After sending this mail, it goes through the long sorting process that can
isolate one person out of two billion (140). When looking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A good example of what poetic meaning is the "New York City is in Iowa" quote. We know that this
statement is not true in the since of where New York City is. Through the invention of the train one
can say that "New York City is in Iowa" only on the idea of progressive encompassment because of
mutual exclusions (145). This example is prime for a "poetic" meaning, because of the fact that the
railroad system passes through both of the states one can be in two places at once. Poetic Meaning
has truthiness and falseness to its meaning, it depends largely on what it is related to. When putting
Semantic and Poetic Meanings side by side both are clearly very two different idea, but when
looking at how semantic ideas are formed and how there is a form of attitude too. Burkes idea of
people creating there own "style" is this idea that "Each brand of imagery contains in germ its own
"logic"". Showing that these ideas can have a persons own twist to them but that it must imply
stylistic act. This last paragraph for me is one of the hardest to compare. These two very different
subjects have mass difference but within the lines they fit together making new

The United States Marine Corps
Most of my service in the United States Marine Corps was spent overseas in Japan and in the
Republic of Korea. During this time, I was a recognised weapons expert responsible for the training
of both United States Armed personnel and the Republic of Korea Marines and soldiers. I
thoroughly enjoyed my training role which allowed me to develop various strategies to effectively
communicate with foreign nationals and offer a direct experience on the logistics of global security
as well as its implementations. Overall, it was a rewarding experience and I welcome such an
opportunity in the future
In addition, I worked in legal administration where I would assist the Japanese Government, military
police, and the Judge Advocate General's Corps in information gathering for the use of senior
officers and courts martial. This position offered a unique perspective on international law as I had
to examine the Japan Status of Forces Agreement in conjunction with the Uniform Code of Military
Justice to accurately establish legality. My work demanded a high level of analysis and cooperation
with personnel of various cultural and social backgrounds. Eventually, I was appointed to be the
liaison between the United States State Department and United States Forces Japan. I would assist
the Consul General in various investigations for the purpose of naturalization.
With a career in security in mind, I pursued undergraduate studies in psychology. Under the

Content Based Approach : A Slightly Different Implementation
2.2. Content Based Approach
A slightly different implementation is employed in content based approach, where the main idea, is
to compare the contents of the site, rather than URL. Content based approach is also known as
visual similarity based approach in which the contents like text, images and styles are compared
with the contents of original site and the similarity is evaluated. This process is lengthier and
consumes time because the entire content is compared, and then the decision is made.
Visual similarity [2] in the phishing web page is another issue which is hard to detect. So there must
be a unique way of phishing detection mainly considering the google page rank. The core idea
behind the process is to maintain a blacklist of URL's and whenever user enter a web page it checks
the URL with the URL's present in the database. If the URL wasn't present it will determine the
google page rank of web and calculate the heuristic value based on the rank. Finally it compares the
value with the threshold and then alerts the user if the value exceeds the threshold. The major
drawback of the system is time taken by the process to detect because of rank calculation. The
system works effectively because google page is updated very frequently and thus helps in effective
detection process.
Another visual similarity implementation is the one based on EMD (Earth Mover's Distance) [3].
EMD is a method that is used to measure the closeness between two signatures. To check the visual

Who Don 't Take Everything?
In today's modern society, individual's beliefs and principles are spread through a variety of ways.
Everything we understand can be derived from a friend, parent, blogger, or even a news anchor who
spread common ideologies without questioning their validity. However, in every society, there are
those who don't take everything they hear to be true. These people, known as thinkers, question
familiar beliefs and provoke thinking in a new light. Born of humble beginnings, Socrates was one
of those thinkers and thought differently than most. Most of his life was spent fearlessly questioning
the told truth and provoking new wisdom in others. A man studied by so many, Socrates based many
of his ideologies around his religion. Like Socrates, Stephen Colbert is a religiously oriented thinker
who courageously speaks out without regard for his reputation in society. Colbert also has great
patriotism for the United States as did Socrates for Classical Athens. There are obvious similarities
in Colbert's way of critical thinking and his use of persuasion, skepticism and activism to that of
Socrates.
Born in Classical Athens, Socrates was raised in a society that respected the teachings of the Greek
Gods and those who considered themselves wise. Socrates' mission "was to expose the ignorance of
those who thought themselves wise and try to convince his fellow citizens that every man is
responsible for his own moral attitudes" (Plato, iv). Socrates sought to teach the common man the

Deceit by the Freemasons
One of the most controversial topics that seems interesting and occurs now on Earth is that people
are being exploited and deceived. Earth is being assaulted and destructed day after day by one
organization. The organization was created in 1717. They do not pray only for the father of Hebrew
Scriptures, they worship the old gods of old mysteries. They believe that god was human and have
created Jesus (Keohane, n.d). They were planning on achieving their goals. One of their goals is "to
dominate the whole world by forming one government and to put the whole blame on the Jews in
order that people will fall into the trap of following the Brotherhood" Moreover, they're aiming to
take on or conquer the temple mount in Jerusalem, reconstruct it, then start what their work on what
they are aiming for (Levin, n.d). It was introduced first in North America but its origins scheme was
in England (Stewart, n.d). In addition, it was introduced by the liberal, and planned to vanish the
flourishing Romanian lodges (Clark, 2012). This organization is called Freemasonry. Freemasonry
is a fraternal organization that traces its origins to the local communities of stonemasons.
"Freemasonry isn't a religion, but when you read about it you'll find information from people who
oppose masonry because they believe it's a religion"(Fannin, n.d), all men of religion is accepted but
they must believe in Deity. It's also a structure of Christianity, and a principle of faith (Hall, n.d).

Definition Of Love In The Shack
A muddled man, grieved with a broken heart, whose grief turned into anger, deteriorating his health,
strength, and happiness. Lying down touching vigilantly his beloved daughter's desiccated
bloodstain, hoping for God's refortification, but all that he glimpsed was zilch, merely a pitch–black
curtain laid before his eyes. OOH what a disastrous day! Even though he had the littlest of hope,
God did not forsake him. Every time he blubbered, God wept with him, all times he moaned, God
had listened and answered him, but in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them
which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should

First characteristic of Love is that love is patient. In the Shack, God was exceedingly patient to
encounter Mack after FOUR years of Missy's homicide. This is not because God had forsaken him,
or He did not want to meet him. Conversely, God was tremendously keyed up for that day, yet God
chose the right timing for Mack. Even in reality, if for instance, one asked God for a car, God deeply
desires to open that door ahead of them; however, God is patient, He chooses the precise and elite
timing for one's sake. Second characteristic of Love is that Love is kind. In the shack, God was so
kind to Mack, even though Mack had judged him erroneously. To prove this, God breathes life into
the gloomiest and deadly situations in our life. For instance, if a beloved family member deceased,
through this other family members may come to know him. That does not mean that God does evil
to accomplish His will, yet He out of those situations performs a miracle. Lastly yet most
importantly, Love does not rejoice evil or in other words does not do evil for good, yet it is truth, it
changes monotonous situations to luminous

Perception And Perspectives On Plagiarism Of Postgraduate...
Title
Perception and perspectives on plagiarism of postgraduate research methodology students at a
distance education institution.
Literature review
Most institutions, if not all, put a great amount of emphasis on plagiarism. Students are made aware
of the fact that plagiarism will not be tolerated and consequences will follow if one is guilty of such
actions. Although the conduct of plagiarism by students have consequences, such as being dismissed
from the institution or not studying at any other university, still does plagiarism seems appealing to
them. Many factors contribute to plagiarism and various reasons came to surface on why students
plagiarize in previous researches conducted.
Reviewing the history and the definition on plagiarism, it is clear that plagiarism is not something
new.
In 1601, the word plagiary was introduced to English by Ben Jonson (Lynch and Jackson, 2005),
thereafter, the word plagiarism was introduced in 1620 (Harper, 2011). In an research conducted by
Kisamore, Stone, and Jawahar, (2007, p. 381) it was evident that there is an increase in academia
dishonesty from 1941 till 2005 and is still continuing.
The word plagiarism has no fixed definition as it is defined differently by various authors. What
stood out and is similar in most of the definition stated by various authors is that plagiarism comes
down to taking what is not yours and presenting it as your own. Carroll (2002) define plagiarism as
the "passing off of someone else's work as

New Medi New Digital Age
Living in a new digital age, we are seeing more computerized devices like smartphone and
computers replacing old media technologies like newspaper, radio and television. Characteristics of
new media as being digital, computerized, interactive and hypersexual have shaped new forms of
communication. Meanwhile, the ability of new media to merge different forms of media
technologies, industries and services so called convergence has also created unprecedented
transformations in the society. In this paper, I argue that new media has contributed to all aspects of
the paradigm shift. As it is constantly remediating its predecessors, it shapes new modes of

Thus, new media is reproducing itself through different old technologies. Not only new media is
remediating its predecessors, it also shapes new modes of subjectivity. Subjectivity means the
process of being a subject; it refers to who we are to how we react to the world. The emergence of
new media has unprecedentedly change the subjectivity of different things. For example, we are
experiencing new forms of textual experiences and representations such as genre, form and
consumption. There are new forms of embodiment and identity that change how we perceive
ourselves and our bodies. Organization also changes the rules of ownership, control, regulation.
These subjectivities are all being reshaped due to the change of our relationship with technologies.
The example discussed in lecture is subjectivity related to selfies. Media technologies has created
selfies which are these self–portraits taken by phones that gets uploaded to social media. It is a
convergence of technology, interaction and body. Selfies become a way to call to the world about
who we are and a commanding representation of self. Because the immediacy, ubiquity and
ephemerality of the social media, selfies have embodied these characteristics and become instant,
common and short–lived. The characteristics of new media is shaping the subjectivity of selfies.
Moreover, devices functions are more determinative than aesthetic conventions. Technologies offer
people the power to edit selfies. People

Truthiness
Charles Seife capitalized on a pop culture motif when titling his 2010 book on ways numbers have
been expressed or manipulated to mislead voters and consumers. Truthiness, the 2006 Miriam–
Webster word of the year, has been on the books since the 1800s, but comedian Stephen Colbert
gave the word new meaning and a popularity it has never seen before when he defined it as "truthy
not facty". Colbert further explains truthiness as 'truth that wouldn't stand to be held back by facts'.
Proofiness, while building off of that theme, implies something even more sinister because it refers
to deliberate and purposefully misleading an audience through the use of deceptive numbers and
statistics. Unfortunately, Seife doesn't limit his inventive word formation to the title. He produces

Rowland targeted the mill industry and it employees and opened four dry good stores. Unfortunately
early success did not come for Macy as the company's first stores actually all failed. Luckily, Mr.
Macy was a resilient man who learned from his early mistakes and realized that his target market for
this type of store was not mill employees but a higher end clientele. He opened his new store "R.H.

Truth In The Colbert Report
True, as it is defined today as "in accordance with fact or reality", was first recorded c.1200 (Online
Etymology Dictionary). True derives from the Old English triewe (West Saxon), treowe (Mercian),
meaning, "faithful and trustworthy," from the Proto–Germanic word trewwjaz, meaning "having or
characterized by good faith". True, along with "firm", "strong", and "sure" is ultimately rooted in
PIE dru, meaning "tree" and "steadfast as an oak" (Online Etymology Dictionary). In mid–14c, truth
was first defined to denote a sense of "something that is true", particularly in contrast to lie (Harper,
2017). Historically, truth and what is true was a notion rooted in factual evidence and reality. In
alignment with Plato's notion that "all absolutes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2009, the Nigerian writer Chimanda Ngozi Adichie presented a TED Talk where she spoke about
the "danger of a single story". Upon moving to America from Nigeria, Adichie was surprised to
discover that American media presented a single image of Africa as an AIDS invested, poverty–
stricken, catastrophic country (Adichie, 2009). The TED talk explains that truth is often incomplete,
as stereotypes and single stories are repeated indefinitely until they become accepted as fact. Virtual
algorithms effectively work to craft the illusion that there is only one narrative, as social media users
are entrapped in a "filter bubble" where they can only see content that aligns with their previously
tracked interests and beliefs (The Economist, 2016). As such, one's entire online world is crafted to
adhere and reinforce their believed truths, yet in reality, the content shown is only a small portion of
reality. "When we reject the single story, when we realize that there is never a single story about any
place", Adichie claims, "we regain a kind paradise" (2009). Thus, For Adichie, the search for truth in
a world filled with untruthful stereotypes is a pursuit for paradise. In other words, exposing truth

Factors That Affect Political Attitudes Of Voters
There is a wide range of factors that influenced people when they cast their secret votes on Election
Day. The main research question driven by our survey was to know the factors that shape political
attitudes of voters. One of the main political attitude that we are looking at in this research is party
affiliation. In order to figure this out, out survey has been grounded around three mains theories. The
three main theories that we tested in our survey was about the tendency of certain demographic
group to support particular parties, the influence of childhood environment on party identification
and the myth of independents voters. The first theory discussed had been discussed in the Chapter 7
"Party Coalition and Party Change" shows how races, age, educational background and
demographic location have influence party coalitions. According to that theory, young, women, and
racial minorities tend to affiliate themselves with democrats whereas healthy white, evangelical
white programs tend to affiliate themselves with republicans. The second theory in the chapter 6
about "Party identification" identifies how family, relative, and many others religious group
influence party affiliation. According to this theory, children tend to grow up and vote the way their
parents do. Therefore, families have the first and the most lasting influence on young people 's
developing political opinions. As this children get older, various others group such as relatives and

Analysis Of Yes I D Lie To You Essay
"Donald Trump Signs Executive Order to Ban Abortions!" While this is obviously untrue, people
would see this on social media, read the headline only, and share the article with their friends. The
cycle then continues. When somebody thinks of honesty, politicians and politics in general, usually
don't come to mind. In fact, politicians are infamously known for lying to achieve the goals within
their agenda. The same goes for media outlets in favour of their own political parties. In recent years

First, the author touches on a new way of thinking in politics. Where people no longer care about the
hard truth, that they are content with what's called "truthiness": ideas which "feel right" or "should

going against them." Post–truth politics isn't just an American concept. As a matter of fact, post–

because people automatically accept the information they've been given and actively work to resist

How Psychology Is The Human Mind And Behavior
Psychology is the science which helps to understand the human mind and behaviour. To understand
properly, one needs to trust on scientific methods that would help in recognizing the aspects related
to the behaviour and psychological processes going in the mind of an individual. Instead of just
trusting on personal observations about the experiences that an individual faces, the process of
scientific research is much more systematic as well as authentic while trying to assess the details
about the field of psychology in a proper and efficient way (Armstrong, 2014). Observation is the
core area that brings out a significant difference between the field of research and the field of study.

Psychology refers to the study of understanding of the human mind as well as the human behaviour
(Csikszentmihalyi and Csikszentmihalyi, 2006). There are various types of research methods
implemented for complete understanding of the human behaviour. In other words, psychology can
be explained as understanding of the different internal processes of the human mind. Quantitative
and the qualitative approach help in proper understanding of concepts of psychology. Qualitative
analysis of the psychology refers to the description of the concepts of the psychological effects on
the human mind. The different state of mind of the humans such the emotional state, happy state,
sad state and the angry state comes under the qualitative approach and this presents a complete idea
of the thinking for humans (Lieberman, 2012). The qualitative approach can easily be understood
with the help of the different activities performed by society. If the general population is supposed to
do work then the steps, as well as the desired activities executed by them, will help to understand
their current state of the mind. Interviews are conducted between the various types of people
regarding their opinion that whether the scientific methods are correct for Psychology or not. The
feedback for the desired opinion from the people are very important to evaluate the fact that
scientific methods are helpful or not for psychology. Whereas, the quantitative approach helps to

1. Yes, it affects me. I don't want it to, but it does. It affects me in part, because it is meant to. The
man appears as if he is unhinged, they use the word "taunting" to describe him. This man is being
used to continue a narrative that people who support Trump are all rage infested lunatics. I am a firm
believer that the one individual doesn't represent all. There are unhinged people on both sides of the
isle. There are also sane and balanced people on each side. When I look at this picture what I see is
one person; but I fear that some people might see all of Trump's supporters when they look at this
man. Frankly that scares me. When it comes to religion, and race we are quick to point out how

She talks of truthiness, this concept of seeing the truth as something that we can make per our own
needs was something we learned about from our book Detecting Bull. She also echoes the book
when she talks of how our own personal and partisan perceptions can cause us to see different
things. Even with facts laid out before us, the very same picture painted won't automatically make
us all see the same thing. I also noted something straight out of page 61 (though I believe it is
unintentional). The book talks of our uncanny ability to make connections through sensory
information. For instance, her choice of wording left me seeing her writing as slightly skewed. She
uses hyper–partisan in her connection with both the left and right wing. Yet, surrounds the words
right–wing and far right with "talking heads" "paranoia", and "conspiracy theories", left–wing gets
"fringe". Fringe means unconventional, paranoia means delusional. In her quest to turn people on to
truth and bring us all together, she very lightly pushes us apart by making us see one side as
unconventional and the other as possessed bobble–heads. Words and context matter. I feel that this
article in its entirety was an attempt on the writer's part to make a case that social media is more of
an ornamental entertainment tool than a reliable news outlet. This she did. She echoes Blur when

Essay on Inside the Head of Sigmund Freud
Among the top minds of the 20th century lie many great men who have devoted their lives to
research in order to conclude an achievement of everyday remembrance as well in providing useful
and technical information that will advance us in the future. Amongst these men lie Karl Marx,
Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin, and Marie Curie. One name who is highly debated and criticized
for his theories is neurologist Sigmund Freud. Arguments take place in order to prove Sigmund's
authenticity and the level of influence that he contributed. Sigismund Schlomo Freud was born May

Therefore, the unconscious must distort the meaning of its information to make it through the
conscious. As a result, the images in our dreams are not always what they appear to be. Therefore,
dreams need to be interpreted by using psychoanalysis. Psychoanalysis is the method developed by
Sigmund Freud that was intended to investigate the mind, conclude a symptom, and to provide a
treatment for the symptom. In today's modern society, many discredit Psychoanalysis and deed it
useless.
As Mikkel Jacobsen said, "The truth is that Freud knew from the very start that Anna O. and his 18
patients were not cured, and yet he did not hesitate to build grand theories on these non–existent
foundations...he disguised fragments of his self–analysis as 'objective' cases, that he concealed his
sources, that he conveniently antedated some of his analyses, that he sometimes attributed to his
patients 'free associations' that he himself made up, that he inflated his therapeutic successes, that he
slandered his opponents." To many, there is not enough proof, truthiness, and cause of work to set
Freud as the great neurologist that he is set to be. Yet, there are those who credit him and
Psychoanalysis for being the stepping–stone towards today's foundation of psychology. Freud had a
serious of works publicized. Three Essays on the Theory of Sexuality contains Freud's 'discovery' of

This works and will gain a candidate some of the opposition's supporters, but not all of them. This is
the point when a campaign begins to get nasty. The important issues that affect the country go out of
the window in favor of personal attacks on a candidates opponent. It may be a shameful tactic, but
it's effective. In the article Why attack ads work, Joan Phillip said, "We pay more attention to
negative information. It's more salient, it scares us, and we're more likely to remember it." In The
Campaign, attack ads are ran by Cam Brady questioning whether Marty Huggins is a Taliban or Al–
Qaed, because he has facial hair and so does a Taliban. Things get really ugly after Cam Brady's
opponent Marty Huggins gets Cam's son to call him daddy on camera in order to make an attack ad.
In retaliation, Cam Brady records himself sleeping with Marty Huggins wife and runs it as an attack
on television somehow getting a bump in the polls (not very Christian like if I have to say). In a past
campaign, attacks were ran questioning Barrack Obama's birth certificate authenticity, and also Mitt
Romney not releasing all of his tax records insinuating that he committed tax fraud. Real life attack
ads aren't as outlandish as the ones in The Campaign, but that's the satire shining a light on the truth
of how ridiculous these attack ads

False Information Controversy
In recent years, it appears that social media use has risen immensely. Due to new technological
advancements, people have taken it to their advantage to report misleading or misguided
information throughout the internet. To prevent getting fooled by fake information, one should do
additional research, avoid any evidence of truthiness and look carefully for bias. To begin, when
seeking information online, it can be difficult to identify between true fact and false data; therefore,
using a tool to eliminate the chances of obtaining false information will be beneficial when
researching. "Is it a primary or secondary source? ... Are methods or references provided?... Who
published the information?... Was it peer–reviewed" (Gratz). These questions ... Show more content

Furthermore, when reading an article or some other form of information, one should watch for bias
as it can alter the source's credibility. While discussing the topic of the recent ban on certain
countries, an alleged former marine, Steven Gern informs people in a short video of the anger Iraqis
have for Americans. He asked "As an American, if I went out in town right now, would I be
welcome?'"(Stephens). He then claimed that they would "snatch [him] up and kill [him] within an
hour. [He] would be tortured first, and after they were done torturing [him], [he] would probably be
beheaded. It would go on video for everybody to see as an example" (Stephens). The speaker in the
video does have a motive for bias as he says he is an American meaning that his purpose was to
provide his viewers with a point, even if that requires disregarding facts. Taking this into account, it
appears that Gern's intention has been to rise angry emotions out of Americans. To conclude, false
information is hidden in unnoticeable places and can be quite difficult to detect. Staying alerted
when using any source is essential to overcoming the deception of any false information. Additional
research, as well as avoidance of truthiness and bias will aid in the prevention of being

How Problematic Is It That TV News Reflects Reality?
How Problematic is it that TV news 'reflects' reality ?
The idea that TV news reflects reality is a reflectionist position, Orgad describes the approach in
which it "assumes that reality is accessible through representation, thus the task of representation is
adequately to reflect pre–existing meaning of the real" (19). So then, why is it problematic that TV
news reflects reality ? News are supposedly unbiased reporters of what is going on in our world at
the moment. However, nowadays it is difficult to see it having an objective view of the world,
especially when one compares various news channels. Firstly "News is negative" (Fiske, 286), and
because it is negative, it give the idea the our reality of the world is also negative, which explains
why it could be seen as reflecting reality. If TV news 'reflects' reality, it is problematic because it
does not in fact reflect it, but gives the illusion it does. I will, in this essay, explain how through
realism, ideology and narration, TV news expresses ideas of truthiness, falsiness, making its own
reality. I first started the essay by looking at a TV news station that would apply to this ... Show

Certain side effects of medical emergencies cannot be fixed completely. For example, the impacts of

society" (10) is a group of individuals that have the ability to share their feelings about not being
fully recovered, but still being considered in remission. Some may look at this more as living with a
chronic condition, rather than remission. In concurrence with Couser's article, Susan Gubar's article
"Living with Cancer: Truthiness" touches on the concept of remission as well. She mentions that
remission is a process and is does not necessarily mean being completely cured: "While I was
feeling perfectly fine during remissions (or as fine as I could feel after numerous surgeries and
chemotherapies), she informed me three times... that the recurrence had begun." In short, this quote
means that remission is not always a permanent notion. Gubar is also interested in the idea that
being in remission means that you live with the risk of a disease returning without one realizing it:
"Plunged into a cloud of unknowing, my mind must have swerved from the realities that rule my
body...I think that my body is healthy, but the disease has returned." In the end, Gubar is explaining
that there is a risk of an illness or condition returning without the mind realizing it, which is a scary

'Walden' is written by Henry David Thoreau and published in 1854. This art of work is a product of
a real experience and inspired by the transcendentalism movement. Not only his writing style is
inspired by transcendentalism but also Thoreau applied this movement, idea in his life style and
wanted to experience this idea. It can be said that transcendentalism is not only an idea for Thoreau,
but it is also must be put into practice in real life and this shows his pragmatic approach.
Thoreau by living in a cabin for two years near Walden Pond which is formally owned by Emerson
wanted to create his own perception of society and nature. He focused on simple ways of living and
self–sufficiency. He decided to direct his life in this way when he encountered Emerson's works. He
liked the idea, movement 'transcendentalism' and actually practiced it. Living with no money and
alone, only with nature and understanding the society by this way was his main goal. He shared his
experiences in his book Walden. He did not live in a wild environment as he mentioned also in his
book, he lived near the town near a lake. He pragmatically wanted to see if living in this simplicity
is really good or not.
In Walden, he firstly explains his plans for this two–year life in a cabin. In this simple life, he has
just food, shelter, clothes and fuel. He supplies these with the help of his friends and family. In his

and torturing a man of Asian descent. The scene implicates that because the torturers and victim are

personnel are sitting in an adjacent room waiting to receive the information extracted from the NSA.
The U.S. is able to receive the information necessary to protect its country without "getting its hands

however cleverly justifies its involvement by the scarcity of time. Alan Dershowits's ticking time

question of whether a government is justified to torture a terrorist in order to extract information on
a time sensitive bomb, that will kill many lives. The creators use Dershowitz's reasoning to justify
the United States' involvement. Because time is scarce and American lives were in danger the U.S.
is justified to torturing the suspect. The creators of the show however are significantly clever
because they depict the scene so that no American is physically involved in the torturing process.

life. But she used a saying of Theologian Howard Thurman that instead of wondering what the
world needs from us, think about what makes us come alive and do that.
Winfrey finished her speech by emphasizing that she has a strong belief in Harvard graduates

Citizen Kane Reflection
The movie Citizen Kane targets an audience that in my opinion has to have an appreciation for film.
Someone who is studying film or has a passion for it will know exactly what he or she is watching.
Though, I am in a film class my taste buds haven't truly developed. I didn't understand the true
nature in which it was shot nor did I understand the plot very well. Disliking the movie was difficult
due to the fact I was trying admittedly hard to understand Gregg Tolland and the concept of the film.
It was written very well but in my opinion it was executed wrong. There were many parts of the
movie that I felt dragged on and were put in there as fluff whereas, the parts that needed elaborating
were cut short. Such as, the scene of Kane's mother giving him away where they could have showed
her reasoning to do so coupled with, a flashback of Kane's relationship with his father to establish a
basis for his persistent attempts to convince the mother otherwise. As well as, a glimpse in his
teenage years and why he wanted to become the head of the Inquirer, moreover, the odd choice of
camera angles really took me by surprise. It was difficult to follow what Gregg Tolland was trying to
portray. To emphasize, the musical scene where the camera seemed as if it was swaying back and
forth and I didn't understand why they showed Kane dancing in the reflection on the window while
highlighting Mr. Bernstein and Leland. With all these faults I found within the movie I do have to
give a round

Truth In College Education
As a high school senior, the future has begun to become very real, very fast. My independent life is
about to begin, and I will begin pursuing a career. I have a passion for children and education;
therefore, I will be studying elementary education in college. Recent events and shifts in society
have started to cross my mind. One of these is truth, and what that means in my personal life and
future students' lives. I have begun to question how I can properly guide myself and my students
towards truth as I explore elementary education in a time of post–truth. What Is Truth? The concept
of truth is something thrown around a lot. How do we define it? According to Merriam–Webster,
truth is "sincerity in action, character, and utterance," "the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Jonathan Gold addresses the effects of social media on education in his article "Teaching in the
Post–Truth Era." He writes, "Although they aren't naïve enough to believe that if it's online, it must
be true, they most certainly believe that if it's true, it must be online, and it's probably been liked by
lots of their friends already." When students are looking for true sources, they tend to focus more on
popular viewpoints that they are comfortable with reading. The New York Times also gives advice
on spotting fake news. The authors, Katherine Schulten and Amanda Christy Brown, say that
teachers should ask students questions like, "What does the phrase "fake news" mean? When have
you or someone you know fallen for or shared fake or inaccurate news of some kind? Why does it
matter if we can't tell real news from fake news?" If we can equip students with the skills needed to
spot fake news, we can start to guide them to more honest

Millennials and the 'Snowflake' Label: An Argumentative Essay

  • 1. Argumentative Essay On Snowflakes Many adults from older generations like the Baby Boomers (born 1946 –1964) and Generation X (born 1961–1981) have been accusing Millennial's of being snowflakes. You may be used to the word snowflake being defined as "one of the small, feathery masses or flakes in which snow falls" (Snowflake). According to Oxford Dictionaries, a snowflake today is "An overly sensitive or easily offended person, or one who believes they are entitled to special treatment on account of their supposedly unique characteristics"(Snowflake). There have been many arguments on Millennial's and whether they have become, as Claire Fox indicated, "Generation Snowflake"(Fox, P.16). Authors like, Simon Sinek, Mark Hill, Marc A. Thiessen, Jessica M. Goldstein, and Claire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A lot of people believe the term "snowflake" originated in Chuck Palahniuk's book, Fight Club, when a member of Project Mayhem tells the other members, "You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everyone, and we are all part of the same compost pile"(No, 'Snowflake' as a Slang Term Did Not Begin with 'Fight Club', P. 5). But, this term originated as early as the 1860s when it was defined as, "a person who was opposed to the abolition of slavery–the implication of the name being that such people valued white people over black people"(No, 'Snowflake' as a Slang Term Did Not Begin with 'Fight Club', P.2). A little over a millennium later, in the 1970s, this term was used to describe "a white man or for a black man who was seen as acting white"(No, 'Snowflake' as a Slang Term Did Not Begin with 'Fight Club', P.8). The term snowflake has evolved through a long period of time and it is now known to be a highly offensive insult. There have been many authors who have written their thoughts on Millennial's, what a snowflake is defined to be, and if todays generation can be considered "Generation Snowflake" (Fox, P.16). According to "Millennials in the Workplace", Simon Sinek states that a snowflake is "entitled and narcissistic, self interested, unfocused and lazy"(Sinek, P.1). Sinek blames Millennial's for being too hard to work with and does not use credible information to back this information up in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Self Worth Research Paper We all have our heroes, our idols, we could even call them our gods; their influence to us is superficial, their greatness creates some of the best moments of our lives, we feel an emotional connection with them even though we have never met them. These are celebrities, media personalities, politicians, athletes and even fictional characters whom through the different forms of media collectively create and become the foundations of pop culture which heavily influence our lives from fashion, morality, political views, language and even our personalities. There has also been a 20% decrease in wanting more tasks in their jobs within 10 years from 1992, with Millennials wanting fewer responsibilities in their jobs or that more people in their 20s live with their parents than with spouses validating the idea that Millennials are lazy and their adulthood developmental stage is stunted due to their need for easier jobs and their refusal to marry early as an adulthood transition like other generations (Josh & Joel ... Kevin Everon Cinema Black people have played an important role in American history and made great contributions to the development on economy and culture of the U.S. This week watching Kevin Everson's series short films, I have a deeper understanding of ethnography cinema distinguished from documentary. His film focusing on the subject matter of African American, transfers their ordinary life into a sublimation of nationality. He uses found footage in According To and Something Else to practice its ethnographic interaction between image and audiences. The language of Everson's camera consists of pure cinema since his film is made without gorgeous modification nor dazzling techniques. He sincerely shows audiences the neglected histories of ... The angle of the camera is normal, but the subjective shot focusing on Miss Black Roanoke talking is valuable. The camera is static, fully framing on the reaction of the lady. The position of two people exposes their social status. The standing White reporter is higher than the sitting Black lady. The only dynamic movement in the still shot is the lady's facial expression and head movement. The word "Proud" she said in the interview is contrast with her reaction. She lowering her head serval times and shifting her eyes around exposes that she lacks of self– confidence as an African American. As she said, "Black contestants do not have a prayer of winning in regular pageants. Only segregated contests offer black women a chance of feeling up." Alternative Responses When I find myself in an argument that seems to have no solution, when I feel there are unspoken motivations on the side of my conversational partner inflaming their irritation, I see that I have the power to change course. If I have this recognition, I can return to a place of more calm and ask, "What is upsetting you right now? What do you feel is true or important that isn't getting across? To resolve this I want to really understand how you feel." Feelings are a point of contention right now. What memories do they have leading to these feelings? How might their feelings influence their actions? That is the beginning of radical love and compassionate politics. These are the things considered by a good parent or friend or lover. We put down our defenses and irritation to consider why they act the way they do when they surprise or disappoint us, because we love them and believe them worthy of this generosity. Sometimes we decide, "Oh, it's not her fault, her mother had severe OCD so when she's under stress she gets a little anxious about clutter. It's not that big of a deal." Then sometimes we decide it's too severe and say instead, "I know she gets anxious about clutter because of her upbringing, but it's really getting out of control and damaging our relationship. What would help her heal that anxiety?" And then you begin the conversation of compromise. • 6. To Build A Fire 'And The Lowest Animal' "Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first" (Mark Twain). Realism is a faithful representation of reality that isn't swayed by unconscious bias or idealistic aims. Realism arose in literature from the period of the civil war where authors showed more truthiness in their writings (Campbell). Jack London and Mark Twain convey the theme that humans have faults through their different styles of writing in their works, "To Build a Fire" and "The Lowest Animal". To begin, London utilizes naturalism to give explicit details of the character's limitations. For example, "The man's red beard and moustache were likewise frosted... If he fell down it would shatter itself like glass... But he did not mind the appendage" (London, 91–98). The man seems to overlook the warnings of the cold and proceeds to keep traveling with no fire that escalates his safety. His limited abilities against nature are further shown in the following lines, "... though he could not feel it with his fingers... ,in his consciousness, was the knowledge that each instant his feet were freezing...:" (London, 351–355). The man's disregard of the old man's advice and his failed estimation resulted in the numbness in his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Twain further emphasize his satire in these lines, "In an hour I taught a cat and dog to be friends" (Twain, 161). He satirizes how different animal species are capable enough to get along better than humans to convey human nature as being savage animals. • 7. Kenneth Burkes The Philosophy Of Literary Form In Kenneth Burkes essay "The Philosophy Of Literary Form" he looks at the differences between Semantic and Poetic language. One–way "semantic ideas" are seen, as sub–classifications that within the right operations and the right process together make the "total" act (141). As "poetic meaning" goes this looks at more of the attitude that goes into the "implicit programs of action" (143). Semantic ideals are the "idea" that there is an organizational process that works through "sub– classifications", for example of mail. When sending a piece of mail, a person has to write an address to who will be receiving it. After sending this mail, it goes through the long sorting process that can isolate one person out of two billion (140). When looking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A good example of what poetic meaning is the "New York City is in Iowa" quote. We know that this statement is not true in the since of where New York City is. Through the invention of the train one can say that "New York City is in Iowa" only on the idea of progressive encompassment because of mutual exclusions (145). This example is prime for a "poetic" meaning, because of the fact that the railroad system passes through both of the states one can be in two places at once. Poetic Meaning has truthiness and falseness to its meaning, it depends largely on what it is related to. When putting Semantic and Poetic Meanings side by side both are clearly very two different idea, but when looking at how semantic ideas are formed and how there is a form of attitude too. Burkes idea of people creating there own "style" is this idea that "Each brand of imagery contains in germ its own "logic"". During this time, I was a recognised weapons expert responsible for the training of both United States Armed personnel and the Republic of Korea Marines and soldiers. • 9. Content Based Approach : A Slightly Different Implementation 2.2. Content Based Approach A slightly different implementation is employed in content based approach, where the main idea, is to compare the contents of the site, rather than URL. Content based approach is also known as visual similarity based approach in which the contents like text, images and styles are compared with the contents of original site and the similarity is evaluated. This process is lengthier and consumes time because the entire content is compared, and then the decision is made. Visual similarity [2] in the phishing web page is another issue which is hard to detect. So there must be a unique way of phishing detection mainly considering the google page rank. The core idea behind the process is to maintain a blacklist of URL's and whenever user enter a web page it checks the URL with the URL's present in the database. If the URL wasn't present it will determine the google page rank of web and calculate the heuristic value based on the rank. Finally it compares the value with the threshold and then alerts the user if the value exceeds the threshold. The major drawback of the system is time taken by the process to detect because of rank calculation. The system works effectively because google page is updated very frequently and thus helps in effective detection process. Another visual similarity implementation is the one based on EMD (Earth Mover's Distance) [3]. EMD is a method that is used to measure the closeness between two signatures. To check the visual ... • 11. Who Don 't Take Everything? In today's modern society, individual's beliefs and principles are spread through a variety of ways. Everything we understand can be derived from a friend, parent, blogger, or even a news anchor who spread common ideologies without questioning their validity. However, in every society, there are those who don't take everything they hear to be true. These people, known as thinkers, question familiar beliefs and provoke thinking in a new light. Born of humble beginnings, Socrates was one of those thinkers and thought differently than most. Most of his life was spent fearlessly questioning the told truth and provoking new wisdom in others. A man studied by so many, Socrates based many of his ideologies around his religion. Like Socrates, Stephen Colbert is a religiously oriented thinker who courageously speaks out without regard for his reputation in society. Colbert also has great patriotism for the United States as did Socrates for Classical Athens. There are obvious similarities in Colbert's way of critical thinking and his use of persuasion, skepticism and activism to that of Socrates. Born in Classical Athens, Socrates was raised in a society that respected the teachings of the Greek Gods and those who considered themselves wise. Socrates' mission "was to expose the ignorance of those who thought themselves wise and try to convince his fellow citizens that every man is responsible for his own moral attitudes" (Plato, iv). Lying down touching vigilantly his beloved daughter's desiccated bloodstain, hoping for God's refortification, but all that he glimpsed was zilch, merely a pitch–black curtain laid before his eyes. OOH what a disastrous day! Even though he had the littlest of hope, God did not forsake him. Every time he blubbered, God wept with him, all times he moaned, God had listened and answered him, but in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them (2 Corinthians 4:4). Even in reality, if for instance, one asked God for a car, God deeply desires to open that door ahead of them; however, God is patient, He chooses the precise and elite timing for one's sake. Second characteristic of Love is that Love is kind. In the shack, God was so kind to Mack, even though Mack had judged him erroneously. True derives from the Old English triewe (West Saxon), treowe (Mercian), meaning, "faithful and trustworthy," from the Proto–Germanic word trewwjaz, meaning "having or characterized by good faith". True, along with "firm", "strong", and "sure" is ultimately rooted in PIE dru, meaning "tree" and "steadfast as an oak" (Online Etymology Dictionary). In mid–14c, truth was first defined to denote a sense of "something that is true", particularly in contrast to lie (Harper, 2017). The TED talk explains that truth is often incomplete, as stereotypes and single stories are repeated indefinitely until they become accepted as fact. Virtual algorithms effectively work to craft the illusion that there is only one narrative, as social media users are entrapped in a "filter bubble" where they can only see content that aligns with their previously tracked interests and beliefs (The Economist, 2016). The main research question driven by our survey was to know the factors that shape political attitudes of voters. One of the main political attitude that we are looking at in this research is party affiliation. In order to figure this out, out survey has been grounded around three mains theories. The three main theories that we tested in our survey was about the tendency of certain demographic group to support particular parties, the influence of childhood environment on party identification and the myth of independents voters. The subject being easy is not enough for me to justify this interest. I believe one possible answer is the approach of my Design and Technology teachers toward teaching was completely different from other teachers. Friedrich Nietzsche's The Gay Science In Friedrich Nietzsche's novel, The Gay Science, he discusses the death of God or more explicitly, "...the belief in the Christian God has become unbelievable" (Nietzsche 199). What people believed was true years ago is now false. He questions whether our concept of God is our oldest lie. He pronounces that he and certain other people are free spirits, children of the future, and argonauts of the ideal. What Nietzsche means by this is that he and certain other people have the capability to be free from high moral standards produced by religion. It is not merely pessimism, but having the ability to laugh at the notion of "man against the world' for man is a vital part of the world (Nietzsche 204). And while the children of the future sees the world as ungodly, immoral, and inhuman, they do not see it as being worthless. The idea of obeying and being commanded by a god comes from religion. Some people are afraid of not believing in anything. They need some kind of faith, so they are willing to be commanded. Certain side effects of medical emergencies cannot be fixed completely. For example, the impacts of a stroke. In his writing, Couser brings up the concept of a "remission society" (10). The "remission society" (10) is a group of individuals that have the ability to share their feelings about not being fully recovered, but still being considered in remission. Some may look at this more as living with a chronic condition, rather than remission. In concurrence with Couser's article, Susan Gubar's article "Living with Cancer: Truthiness" touches on the concept of remission as well. She mentions that remission is a process and is does not necessarily mean being completely cured: "While I was feeling perfectly fine during remissions (or as fine as I could feel after numerous surgeries and chemotherapies), she informed me three times... that the recurrence had begun." In short, this quote means that remission is not always a permanent notion. Gubar is also interested in the idea that being in remission means that you live with the risk of a disease returning without one realizing it: "Plunged into a cloud of unknowing, my mind must have swerved from the realities that rule my body...I think that my body is healthy, but the disease has returned." In the end, Gubar is explaining that there is a risk of an illness or condition returning without the mind realizing it, which is a scary concept for many to consider. Because of this, patients, ... Because the scene takes place in Korea, one can conclude that the torturers are of Korean descent and torturing a man of Asian descent. The scene implicates that because the torturers and victim are of Asian descent, the U.S. is not responsible for these actions. The reality however, is that U.S. personnel are sitting in an adjacent room waiting to receive the information extracted from the NSA. The U.S. is able to receive the information necessary to protect its country without "getting its hands dirty." Many will argue that the U.S. is still, to an extent, accountable for torturing a man. The show however cleverly justifies its involvement by the scarcity of time. Alan Dershowits's ticking time bomb scenario comes alive in the Fox Television series. The ticking time bomb scenario, poses the question of whether a government is justified to torture a terrorist in order to extract information on a time sensitive bomb, that will kill many lives. The creators use Dershowitz's reasoning to justify the United States' involvement. Because time is scarce and American lives were in danger the U.S. is justified to torturing the suspect. The creators of the show however are significantly clever because they depict the scene so that no American is physically involved in the torturing process. I didn't understand the true nature in which it was shot nor did I understand the plot very well. Disliking the movie was difficult due to the fact I was trying admittedly hard to understand Gregg Tolland and the concept of the film. It was written very well but in my opinion it was executed wrong. There were many parts of the movie that I felt dragged on and were put in there as fluff whereas, the parts that needed elaborating were cut short. Such as, the scene of Kane's mother giving him away where they could have showed her reasoning to do so coupled with, a flashback of Kane's relationship with his father to establish a basis for his persistent attempts to convince the mother otherwise. As well as, a glimpse in his teenage years and why he wanted to become the head of the Inquirer, moreover, the odd choice of camera angles really took me by surprise. It was difficult to follow what Gregg Tolland was trying to portray. To emphasize, the musical scene where the camera seemed as if it was swaying back and forth and I didn't understand why they showed Kane dancing in the reflection on the window while highlighting Mr. Bernstein and Leland.
