3. Gender has been represented in our thriller opening through our character. Having both a
female and male character present and giving an important role. Allowing the opening
to be targeted at both genders.
We represented the age in various way such as the use of colloquial language e.g. ‘Its iyt’
when the female character replied to the male character.
We represented our character in way the that they can be generalised to our target market.
We did this in more ways than one, such as both characters wearing casual cloths e.g.
Skinny-Jeans, t-shirt & nike trainers. Another point, the male character hair style is
currently in trend, both adding to the mise-en-scene we are trying to achieve.
Did we stereotype?
Yes. Even though the female character was the main character. The male character was still
dominate. We show this almost instantly for the beginning, with the female character
leaning on the male character on the couch. Secondly, through out the film the male
character was consistently requesting for various wants e.g.
• "Can you get me a blanket please"
• "Can you get me a drink please"
