2. Wolf of wall street starts off with the main protagonist with an
insight of the second important character. A narrative is
shown through the shot types and the dialogue. The music
and sound also adds to the narrative as it shows structure.
The actor which is presented has a link to Martins other films
such as Aviator and Gangs of New York, which is very
effective to the audience that fond wit Leonardo DiCaprio.
We know that Leonardo DiCaprio is the protagonist through
character exposition. We tend to see him in the middle as the
head man in Martin Scorsese films., just like in Gangs of
New York.
3. In the Aviator we too see the protagonist character in the
beginning of the trailer. Here the protagonist is also the
actor Leonardo DiCaprio which links back to two of the
other Martin Scorsese films Wolf of Wall Street and Gangs
of New York.
There is a very clear link that Martin likes to use character
exposition very carefully where we can tell who the
protagonist is and why he is the protagonist. When the
audience identify why he is the protagonist, it also outline
the narrative of the film as a whole as we know that
whatever may happen, it shall be based on the protagonist.
Here too we see the specific type of exposition Martin tends
to use.
4. Gangs of New York starts with the protagonist characters with
a voice over of Leonardo DiCaprio which is the little boy. This
shows a link to Martin Scorsese films as he tends to show the
protagonist character in the beginning and in this case it
happens to be the same actor. This is very appealing to the
audience as if they’ve seen Wolf of Wall Street or Aviator and
they are fond of Leonardo DiCaprio, it will then capture the
audiences attention to want to watch Aviator.
We see a narrative constructed through the shot types that are
shows such as when the protagonist character is holding onto
his father which displays that that is the cause of the action
that will then take place.
