2. The title is in orange and black which are both
associated with heat and death. This this means that there
are problems that occur in this narrative.
Although we can associate orange with flames it is also
said that it can be linked to success and determination,
which could reflect on the main character.
The title ‘buried’ is surrounded black which suggests that
death could possibly be around the corner for the main
character.
However black also is linked with power which might
mean although Paul is in this situation he knows what he
is doing. It is a mystery because we don’t really know why
the main character is there.
3. Parallel sound that goes with the image, this is used when Paul is flicking
his lighter so that he can get some light source wherever he is.
We have a sound bridge ….Slow but discordant sound this is to keep the
audience on the edge of their seats so that they are intrigued but what
could possibly happen next.
It builds tension because we are not ready for the next action that is going
to happen. There is no sound for at least a minute and then we hear a
thudding sound this immediately gets the audience thinking what’s going
on? Where is that noise coming from?
We hear a muffled sound of the main character trying to scream which
raises suspicion for the audience as we don’t understand why he is there.
This is an enigma code as we are questioning ourselves.
4. There were elements of mise en scene visible through the lighting,
costumes, location and props
everything is dark which instantly tells us that nothing is positive it is all
associated with negativity.
Paul is sweating which means that he is using up a lot of energy and
because he is getting energy into a confined space he’s using up more
energy.
The light is low key which builds up suspense for the audience
The main character was is located in a coffin which could mean that his is
to get himself out of there.
5. The cuts in the film opening Buried were fairly slow, this is effective
because it moves the storyline at steady pace.
The lighting during the film opening is low key this is to emphasis the main
characters surrounding which shows that his space is restricted
The seconds between each cut varies, when the screen is blank for a
minute we are left wondering why this is.
In the film opening the main character is portrayed as the damsel in distress
as we have continuous shots of him struggling to set himself free which is
not a stereotypical trait of a man.
6. • The storyline uses enigma code because in the
opening scene we see the main character
struggling to set himself free.
• We can say that it does not use the equilibrium
because its started of with a problem and could
possibly end with a solution but it is not equally
balanced
