2. Process
• To create this poster I went to a small room by myself and
took the photos on my phone, I took it by myself because
I had more control over what was being photographed. I
then imported it onto my computer and used Photoshop
to create the black and white filter, I used the paint brush
tool to draw the black veins on my hands and the text
button (“T”) to add the title. The font is chiller, I thought
it would create a good horror vibe for the audience and
intrigue them into seeing the movie, since the font almost
looks like it has been written in blood with the red filling.
The black and white filter should create an ominous,
mysterious and creepy atmosphere which is what I want
for this product. The hand and the shadow of the hand
appearing on the wall represents the two personalities
that are inside Masons body; Mason and the evil entity
that takes him over (called the Crimson). If I were to do
anything different to make it better I would get someone
to hold the phone and take the photo for me because
they could get a better angle than I have.
3. Process
To make this poster I took a selfie on my iPhone 8, I
took the photo by myself because I had more
control over the phone. I added a noir (black and
white) by clicking on the photo and going into
‘edits’ and clicking the noir filter. I chose noir
because I thought it would have a more dark,
creepy and horror-like feel to it. I added the veins
by using the paint tool in Photoshop and drawing
them onto the image. I added text by using the text
tool and selected chiller as the font and colouring it
red. I selected chiller as the font because it almost
looks like its blood and gives a horror-ish vibe. I
thought that it would attract the horror audience
more with these features. If I were to go back and
do something different to make it better I would
ask someone to take the photo for me so they
could get a better angle.
4. Process
For this photo I also took the selfie to have better
control of the photo. I also added the text using
Photoshop, wanting the same effect (To attract the
audience to the horror). I painted the eyes yellow by
using the paint tool in Photoshop and painting over the
eyes. I chose because the characters source of power
would be coloured yellow, his eyes would turn yellow
as a matter of when he gets angry yellow would be a
warning signal (almost like a traffic light) when he gets
angry and would warn his enemies of what is about to
happen. I wanted to tease this in my poster for the
audience. Because it might interest them in what it
means. If I were to go back and do something different
to make it better I would ask someone to take the
photo for me so they could tell me whether or not I
am actually looking directly at the camera which is
what I want to do because it means the audience
might feel like I am looking directly at them.
5. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
– I might draw veins onto my arm for the trailer to show to confirm the
sci-fi aspect of the film. A common convention of horror films is
exaggerate body parts in an unnatural way, hence the black veins and
glowing eyes.
– I will definitely use the chiller font for the title and other text in the
trailer as it is a good font for horror.
– What I would do in my final product is add more detail/information
about the film to interest the viewer to the film.
– I may not be able to add Photoshop into the trailer but I will add an
age rating to the posters (or take a new photo) to make an official DVD
poster. I may use similar effects or try something new like add more
characters or add more veins to Masons body.
