Augmented reality shows potential to improve user experience for workers in smart factories. AR interfaces can display spatial information directly related to the real-world environment, unlike traditional GUIs. An AR prototype was developed to assist assembly workers by displaying assembly instructions and highlighting components. It uses a video-see through approach with a camera and overlays digital information. Initial findings suggest AR is a promising interface for industrial applications by making information contextually relevant. Future work aims to establish proven AR interface elements to help make future factories more user-friendly.
