The Green Party
Bernie Sanders fever is sweeping the across the country. After a credible showing in Iowa, he is well
placed to win New Hampshire. The most astonishing thing about this is that he has managed to turn
socialism from a taboo in American politics into a norm. His run and prominence has led to 43
percent of Iowa caucus voters to self–identifying as socialist (Scher 2016). The problem is that
actual socialists are in some cases rooting against Senator Sanders. His candidacy has led to a split
amongst socialists, with some feeling that he is a bona fide socialist while others feel is a "socialist
in name only" (Scher 2016). As a whole, the parties that would be considered socialist do not place
well in elections. The Green Party, which is probably the most well–known party with socialist
aims, had 469,627 votes in the 2012 election according to the FEC. While not massive, it still
dwarfs the totals of parties with the word "socialist" in their name. Combined, they received a
whopping 86,528 votes in 2012 (FEC). Many feel that Sanders has "sold out", by pledging to
support billionaire–backed Hilary Clinton should she win (Scher 2016). Many within the far left feel
that Sanders' campaign is pulling votes and interest away from true socialist parties and policies, and
could weaken the platform overall. Most socialist parties prefer to stay united behind one candidate,
in this case the Green's Dr. Jill Stein, and get on the ballot consistently rather than be split with

Third Party Parties
The 2016 presidential election has brought many surprises and upsets. Both major party candidates
are viewed unfavorably by many American citizens. This makes some Americans question: is it time
for a third party to gain political power and help our faltering two party system? In the article, "Is It
Time for a Third Party?", Patricia Smith provides information about third parties and how a third
party might be able to rise up to compete with the main two parties in the future. Smith effectively
develops her ideas by explaining third parties, including graphics to better explain her thoughts, and
discussing how the current atmosphere may allow third parties to rise to prominence. Smith
provides a better description of third parties by explaining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Smith gives an overview of third parties by explaining their role in elections, listing the current third
party candidates and their parties, and explaining why they rarely win. This helps readers to know
more about third parties and their current role, which helps them better understand the rest of the
information presented in the article. The article also includes colorful graphics that better explain
concepts in the article. These graphics also keep the reader engaged by presenting information in a
different way. Finally, the author provides evidence about how the current unfavorability of the
major party candidates may allow a third party candidate to gain political status. The author's
appeals to the audience and command of the information help her article to be concise, informative,

The Democratic Party And The Whig Party
During the time periods between the 1830s and 1840s, two political parties: the Democratic party
and the Whig party had faced the challenges among their ideological differences on the role of
federal government in the economy and the westward expansion, but did compromise in certain
ways. The one–party system of Monroe's presidency had led to the creation of a two–party system
under the presidency terms of Andrew Jackson. The supporters of President Jackson were known as
the Democrats and the supporters of Henry Clay and Daniel Webster, rivals of Jackson, came to be
known as the Whigs. The Democrats were influenced by Thomas Jefferson, whereas the Whigs were
influenced by Alexander Hamilton. The Democrats were in favor of states' rights and opposed the
growth of a powerful central government. Democrats also favored in rapid territorial and external
growth. The Whigs were in favor of a stronger federal government that was dominated by Congress.
Whigs also favored gradual territorial expansions and internal improvements. In future reference,
the Democratic and Whig party created the two political parties in which we see today, the
Democratic and Republican Party. To start off, Henry Clay and the Whigs "... developed a platform
called the American System, which advocated increased powers for Congress; strong central control
over foreign affairs and military issues; high tariffs and a national bank to build the economy; and
extensive infrastructure improvements–financed and

The Democratic Party And The Republican Party
Two political parties have dominated the United States: the Democratic Party and the Republican
Party. The term "Third party" is used in the United States to describe any political party besides the
well–known Republican and Democratic parties. Examples of third parties include the Libertarian
Party, The Green Party, and the Constitutional Party. Unfortunately, these third parties have a hard
time gaining political representation at the federal level. The historic route Democrats and
Republicans trace back in the United States, the systematic influence of the Electoral College,
financial contributions, and lack of media coverage all give a substantial reason as to why the newer
third parties that emerged in the years after the major political parties have a hard time gaining
political representation at the federal level. Third parties in the United States have represented social
and economic interests that the two major political parties failed to give voice to. These particular
parties for example some include the Green party, Libertarian party, and Constitutional party, have a
great influence on ideas and elections in the United States. In the rural areas of the West and
Midwest¬, the Populists and the Progressives, and the candidates for the urban middle classes in the
late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries are the most important examples in the past century. In
the most recent of years, Independent candidate H. Ross Perot, who ran in the election in 1992 and

Convention Speeches
America is considered as a global superpower, and has a critical role to play in the global
socioeconomic and political landscape. Critical examination of US presidential elections show that
they draw widespread attention from across the globe. In many instances, the major political parties
differ significantly on policies, a prospect that may work to the advantage or the disadvantage of the
candidate for Democratic Party of the Republican Party. After months of the long bruising primaries,
the GOP conducted its convention in Cleveland while the democratic sect held their convention in
Philadelphia. The speeches delivered in the two conventions had significant policy differences

3). Trump further pointed out that large fractions of the US annual budgets are set aside to finance
the international economic obligations of the country. As such, the Republicans pointed out that
cutting such parts of the budget would help to boost the American economy and to reduce budget
deficits.
Further, the sect outlined that the allies of America will have to pay if the country is to offer military
assistance and other services. Through this strategic approach, the republicans equally believed that
returning American troops home and abandoning international missions would help save revenues
that, in their view, are wasted on programs that do not directly benefit the American people. Ideally,
the Republicans exhibited belief that continued involvement of America in international aids and
assistive missions would affect the economy negatively, and would make America vulnerable in the
global market (Smith 3). On debt, Donald Trump recounted his experience as a business mogul to be
a value that will help him overcome the economic barriers and ensure that the country does not
accumulate debts.
Another fundamental subject that was explored in the Republican convention was trade between
America and the international community. The Republican Party noted that America was getting raw
deals in many instances. They cited the case of trade between America and china in which the

Political Parties: A Political Party
Last year, 2016, was the first year I could vote. I never identified with a certain party until Donald
Trump decide to run for president. That is when I chose a political party that would go against him
because I disagree with everything he stands for. That party being the Democratic party. I didn't just
pick this party I wanted to go against Trump but because of the views it has, the good person Barack
Obama is, and the good he has done to this country.
I place myself on the left on the political spectrum right progressive liberal. I like that it focuses on
the social and economic welfare of citizens and how the government operates.

The Republican Party Or Grand Old Party
The Origin, The Change, The Present
The Republican party or Grand Old Party (GOP), for over 150 years, has maintained itself as a
major political party within the United States of America. As a whole, the republican party follows
the belief of military build up ,less taxes, and more importantly, a limited government. However,
throughout recent years there has been an influx of conservative values being spread throughout the
GOP. These values include harsh stances against: homosexuality, immigration, and abortion. This
recent "conservative trend" has caused many to see the party as out of date. Ironically, it has not
always been like this, as the party was once what would be defined as "liberal". These liberal views
included support of "conservatism" and universal health
care(http://www.marketwatch.com/story/four–things–republicans–used–to–believe–2011–07–18).
So, what happened? In short, the conservative influx in the 1950s would lead to this drastic change
of views, which would lead us to today 's far right republican party. In order to–

The GOP would begin in the early 1850's as an Antislavery party in do part to the Kansas–Nebraska
Act of 1854 . Within this act entailed whether or not slavery could be permitted on nebraska land by
"settlers and entrepreneurs" who wanted to relocate there .

The Populist Party And The Socialist Party
The Populist Party is often referred to as the party of and for the people, and is labeled as such
because it was, very candidly, founded by the common people, such as farmers and other laborers.
While this party was in power, they had many ambitions and ideas that they sought to spread to
others, and aspired to achieve. To understand the topic completely, one requires a general knowledge
of the formation of the populist party, the elemental beliefs, goals and ideals, and how the downfall
of the party came about, as this will aid in the understanding of the populist party's want of free
coinage of silver and how it would have helped debtors initially, but would have had a
comprehensive and unfavorable effect on the American economy ... Show more content on

However, almost all of the populist party could be put under one label: Debtors. The farmers
involved sought to regulate prices and make them affordable, while industrialists sought to regulate
the hours in a work day. The people were left in great debt and hoped that these actions may soon
begin to lift the economic depression that they were facing. The main idea of the populist party was
to unite the common and poor people so that they may gain power as a group, and allow the
aforementioned group to gain and retain more power and say within the operations and actions of
the government. Although the party began as a group of upset farmers, soon after the movement to
create this party had begun, it caught the attention of others. Some industrial workers, and a few
stray others shared similar views as these southern and western farmers, and decided that they would
join the party, in hopes of also gaining authority, and had hope to attempt to stop the declining
economic condition. Although at first, other political parties saw the populists as humorous, the
party began to grow, causing more and more people to be forced to recognize that the populists were
gaining power, and should be taken seriously (Edwards). It started in Kansas, when William Peffer
became the first populist senate member, and shortly after, the party began to grow. The party soon
developed two different branches: Fusionists,

The Democratic Party And The Republican Party
For centuries, two main political parties, the Democratic Party, and the Republican Party, have
divided the United States government. The Democrats are considered the liberal political party and
can trace its roots all the way back to Thomas Jefferson when they were known as Jefferson's
Republicans and they strongly opposed the Federalist Party and their nationalist views. Republicans
are considered the conservative political party and try to uphold more traditional values. The
Republican Party came into existence just prior to the Civil War due to their long–time stance in
favor of the abolition of slavery. In 1860, they became an established political party when their
nominee Abraham Lincoln was elected as President of the United States. Since their inception, the
Republican and Democratic Party have had many disputes about policies. One of these major
debates has focused on educational funding in the United States. The parties have different views on
the education system of the country, but both agree there needs a change in some way. Democrats
favor more progressive approaches to education, such as implementing the Common Core System,
while Republicans tend to favor more conservative changes such as longer hours and more focused
programs to better educational resources. In Virginia, Republicans from 1990 to 2013 worked to
provide better educational funding more prominently than Democrats. Starting in the 1990s, the
Virginia education system experienced a decrease in

The Political Party At The Democratic Party
Internet Assignment
Political Party Research:
1. I am attracted to the Democratic Party. I took the political party quiz and answered the questions
as honestly as I could. I found the questions to be very interesting and versatile. After viewing my
results I looked into The Green Party some more. I am basically an environmentalist and believe
taxes are affecting the lower classes and something needs to be done about it. I agreed with all of
these issues.
2. The top 5 issues are jobs, families, health, education and infrastructure. These have been goals of
the Democratic Party for many years. I believe these are interesting goals and also ones I believe
have issues. There's plenty of room for improvement when it comes to securing family funds, giving
jobs to everyone who qualifies for them, and improving the education we give to our young citizens.
3. When it comes to jobs, the Democratic Party has worked with President Obama to stabilize the
financial system and help prevent a second degree depression. Since the recession 15 million private
sector jobs have become available and the unemployment rate has dropped 5% for the first time in
the last decade. The Democratic Party has also helped expand public options when it comes to
education. They decided they were going to pay teachers like any other professional and thought
about rebuilding schools. They also hired 100,000 more teachers to reduce class sizes and provide
students with a better way of learning. They have fought

Democratic Party Vs. Democratic Parties
Since the beginning the United States the its form of government has been considered unique. While
it is different from many other forms of government it gives each U.S. citizen the ability to speak
their mind on who they believe their country should be governed by and what laws they should be
governed under. In making these decisions citizens generally take a side, Republican or Democrat.
Republican and Democratic parties are two of the nations oldest political parties however, when
they originated the Republican party was the Democratic party that we have today and the
Democratic party was the Conservative party we have today. To put that in simpler terms, the
Democratic party were the Confederates in the civil war while the Republican party was the Union.
Democrats of that time favored a limited government, supported the idea of manifest destiny, and
fought for the continuation of slavery whereas the Republican party of that time opposed slavery,
favored government policies such as nation currency, high tariffs, or increased funding on the
university system. The switch to the parties we know today is said to have happened gradually
between 1872. While the party system today is flipped from the original Democratic and Republican
parties it still flows from historic roots but the reasoning's and demographics behind who identifies
as Liberal and who identifies as Conservative has advanced.

The Grand New Party came alive in a small schoolhouse in Wisconsin when a group of abolitionist
gathered to fight the expansion of slavery. The Republican party is now one of the two major
political parties that makes up the United States political system. The Republican party typically
sticks to more conservative views on major issues in the government. Three topics of constant
concern for the party include taxation, gun control, and immigration. The Republican party feels that
taxes are a burden on the people and that the more they can lower taxes the better. Their ideology is
that the more they lower taxes the more money people will have and entail their will be more
activity the throughout the economy. "It has been longstanding Republican policy to favor laissez–

College Parties In College
Attending university for the time is an experience like no other. Many students go from being
coddled by their parents to complete independence. This newly found freedom can result in a couple
of outcomes, this can be categorized as those who choose to party and those who don't. Partying is a
university stereotype, you see it movies and have most likely heard some eventful stories from a
family member. Dissimilar to high school, there are no 'popular kids' throwing exclusive parties,
everyone is welcome. Yet the necessity to conform to the 'party' crowd is still present. It has become
a societal norm. Almost like, if you're not partying, you're not attaining the full university
experience.
Overall partying can be described as an event/celebration in which most people are enjoying
themselves, typically letting loose through the use of alcohol and drugs. Everyone parties for a
different reason. For myself, the world of partying often leads to meeting new people, along with the
liquid courage, socializing becomes easier. For other's it may act as release. After another
continuous week of studying and completing assignments, partying can act as something to look
forward to. In university, students typically party from Thursday to Saturday every weekend.
Whether it's a going to house party, bars or clubs, there is always something going on.
After a long week, students usually decide what they're going to do, typically meeting up on
Thursday to begin the weekend. The duration

The Democratic Party
The Democratic Party was formed in 1792. Its name was adopted in the 1830s during Jackson's
presidency. It is the "world's oldest existing political party" (Democratic Party). The Northern and
Southern Democrats had issues dealing with slavery, which caused them to split in 1860. According
to the "Democratic Party", the Southern Democrats wanted to protect "slavery in all the territories
while many Northern Democrats resisted." The party was also known as the "white man 's party"
and demonized the Republican Party as being "Negro dominated," even though whites were in
control" (Democratic Party). The party's platform deals with a lot of controversial topics. For
example, abortion. Democrats believe "Abortion rights are "fundamental constitutional liberty" and
abortion should be available regardless of a woman's ability to pay" (ABC News). They believe that
abortion is completely up to the parents of the child. Another example is education. They want
"affordable preschool for all children, higher teacher salaries, higher standards for teachers, students
and states, triple number of charter schools, [and] let more parents choose from among public
schools" (ABC News). In 2015, "the President announced a landmark proposal to make community
college free to anyone who is willing to work for it" (@TheDemocrats). They want to make it easier
for children attending school and allow teachers to earn a better salary. Another issue is gay rights.

The Republican Party And The Democratic Party Essay
The Republican Party has long relied on the support of older, white, conservatives. Regrettably, they
are a shrinking portion of the voting population. The problem that they face is a shrinking voter
base, mainly due to age. As their electorate shrinks, it is imperative for the party to appeal to the
more liberal younger generations for support. The Republican Party needs to look forward to true
reform. Above all, the party needs to abandon much of their social conservatism to appeal to
millennials ' interests to stay relevant on the national political scene.
David Frum offers four potential solutions for where the Republican party can go from here. He
himself believes that the first two considerations of doubling down on elite–backed candidates or
"tactical concession" on immigration are unhelpful and too narrow respectively. Therefore, his most
confident considerations are in his third and fourth options. His fourth choice to keep the Republican
party relevant is, in his words, to "change the rules of the game." (Frum 2016) Parties are in favor of
processes that help advance their (or limit the other party's) political and ideological goals. Frum
recognizes that outside of the presidential election, Republicans have done quite well on down ballot
elections. For this reason, they have the ability to exert considerably more control over voting and
election processes than Democrats. For example, having the ability to gerrymander as well as
change voter registration rules

The Democratic Party And The Republican Party

In politics today, two parties exist; the democrat party and the republican party. Out of the pair of

When looking at the economy today, it is rather on a plateau. A few years ago, the economy was

immigration into the country has sky rocketed in the past ten years. The number of illegal
immigrants flowing into the country is approximately seven hundred thousand each year. Personally,
I believe that this number is entirely too high. The United States has a specific law about illegal
aliens and how they must have a piece of paper called a green card in order to live in this country as
an immigrant. These people of course are not considered citizens because they were not born in
America, which is primarily the reason behind the law. Along with these issues, I also believe that
the military and our veterans are treated with disrespect. Currently, we have been involved in

Many disliked the Catholic Church because of the opposing taxation to finance public schools. They
felt it was unfair to have to finance schools where their children did not attend.
Later, 1856, the American Party ran Milliard Fillmore as a candidate for president, he came in last
900,000 votes out of four million votes.
Meanwhile, many Americans and Ohioans still opposed the Catholic faith, slavery was a bigger
issue to them. They refused to take a stand on slavery, as a result, the Know–Nothing Party was
declined by the presidential election of 1860. No candidate was entered into the election and most of
their followers had joined the Republican Party.
One example of Nativism from the past is Bloody Monday.
Bloody Monday was August 6, 1855, in Louisville, KY on an election day when Protestant mobs
attacked German and Irish Catholic neighborhoods. Many were hurt, 22 were killed, buildings and
properties were destroyed. The riots grew from a rivalry between the Democrats and the Nativist
Know–Nothing Party. It was a time of great change, uncertainty, fear, violence, slavery, and
prejudice.

The Party For Freedom And The Socialist Party
By definition, Nationalism is an ideology in which a group's recognition and espouse of their
identity, as a nation, is expressed based on a common origin, in addition to the desire to spread their
global influence. Through analysis of the Netherlands Party for Freedom (PVV) and the
Netherlands' Socialist Party (Socialistische Partij) alongside the World Values Survey, I will assess
the values of each party and compare their supporters through various variables in order to further
examine Nationalism. In comparison of the Party for Freedom and the Socialist Party, I will focus
on the country's answer toward the question: "Which party would you vote for if there were a
national election tomorrow," as well as analyze the various demographics involved. The Netherlands
is run based upon a parliamentary representative democracy with both parties analyzed containing
the same number of seats within the parliament. Thus, both parties, despite having different
worldviews, carry similarities throughout the nationalistic views of the Dutch people. In order to
inaugurate the analysis, we must begin by determining the nationalistic views within the
Netherlands and understand the basis behind each party. The Party for freedom is a right–wing
nationalist party, while the Socialist Party is a left–wing social democratic party. Within the current
politics of the Netherlands, both parties control an equal number of seats with 15 being in the House

Political Parties And Democratic Parties
The political party is an organization of people who share similar ideas about the way the country
should be governed. Political parties perform important tasks in government. In fact, "political
parties select candidates and check the other party. Political parties also inform the public. Most
importantly, they organize the government" (Political Parties, n.d.). The history of U.S political
parties begins with the Federalists and their opponents the Anti–Federalists who became the
Democratic–Republicans. Two major political parties in the United States today, however, are
Democrats and Republicans. The U.S is one of the very few countries with only two dominant
parties and there is so much attention focused on only two parties in the United State. Why Only
Two Parties (n.d) explained that the two party system in the U.S is largely due to what is called
plurality voting in single–member districts, also means, winner takes all voting system. In addition,
the two parties, Democrats and Republicans, have essentially crowded out the other minor parties. It

Planning A Mexican Birthday Party
Planning a Mexican birthday party is no easy task. There are multiple factors that go into doing so.
Not only does it require a couple days of planning, but if done poorly, it will turn out the same. In a

One does not spend weeks planning unless it is needed. Instead, you just decide on what you want,

The Jacksonian Democratic Party And The Whig Party
The Jacksonian Democratic Party and the Whig Party each, exemplified different beliefs on the role
of the federal government in the economy and towards westward expansion in the 1830s and 1840s.
However, the Jacksonian, laissez faire supporting Democrats and the economic nationalistic Whig
party shared almost no beliefs except for the removal of American Indians in the areas their
supporters wished to settle. The lack of similarities is because the Whigs formed their own party to
oppose President Jackson's strong–armed leadership style and policies which earned him the
nickname "King Andrew." The Jacksonian Democratic Party evolved out of the Democratic–
Republican Party in the early 1800s, the core of its membership was composed of farmers,
immigrants, and white Southerners. The Whigs formed in 1834 and lasted for 20 years, they were
the major political party that opposed Andrew Jackson. The Whigs were created based upon the
Federalist beliefs in a strong federal government and adopted many Federalist and National
Republican policy ideas, including federal funding for internal improvements, a central bank, and
high tariffs to protect the growth of manufacturing enterprises. Overall, the Jacksonian Democratic
agrarian Party and the industrialization supporting Whig Party had different beliefs toward the role
of the federal government in the economy and towards westward expansion. The role of the federal
government in the economy was a heated dispute between the Jacksonian

The Democratic Party And The Republican Party
The Democratic Party is one of two major political parties in the United States. I associate myself as
a Democrat for the reason of their liberal views. The Democratic Party tends to be more liberal and
support the views like same sex marriage, immigration, and social and economic equality. Many of
the views the party stands for and beliefs tie to my beliefs. Some of the key priorities of the
Democratic Party are the Economy, Poverty and Homelessness, Education, Healthcare Policy, Social
Security and Medicare, Immigration, and Gun Policy.
First, as a new Democratic nominee running for President their economic positions are made clear.
To reach the goals that Democrats want for our country 's economy, Democrats have made it their
priority to cut taxes for working families and tax the rich more in tax increases. They also provide
help for small businesses and homeowners. The Democratic Party is also trying to make college
available for free for all Americans as well as removing companies that produce their products
overseas and bringing them in the United States. "Hillary Clinton and Democrats will make certain
we build and economy works for everyone, not just those at the top."
Second, democrats want to make healthcare more affordable. An act that was passed by President
Obama was passed known as the Affordable Care Act allowed over 20 million Americans to get
health care coverage. The Affordable Care Act allowed states to expand Medicaid to get more

Political Parties And The Republican Party Platform
Generally speaking, anyone who lives in the United States of America knows that there are two
main political parties–the Republicans and the Democrats. Having two main parties has its
advantages and, of course, its disadvantages. For example, in By the People James E. Monroe and
Rogan Kersh (301) point out having this type of system creates "predictability and stability."
However, they also declare (301) it can "lead to a gridlock." This is not a new concept either as there
has been a divide since the beginning of both parties. The two parties more often than not disagree
on various issues, while rarely agreeing on what is best for the country.
Democrats and Republicans highly differ when comparing views on climate change. The Democrats
accept human role in climate change while many Republicans question if climate change is even
real. In the 2016 Democratic Party Platform (27), they state "in the first 100 days of the next
administration, the president will convene a summit of the words best engineers, climate scientists,
policy experts, activists, and indigenous communities to chart a course to solve the climate crisis."
This is highlighted previously when President Obama, a Democrat, traveled to Paris for a
convention about climate change where he met other leaders around the world to make a plan to
help fix the issues surrounding climate change. This shows the basic principles of the Democratic
Party as internationalist and having the large government–as it states in the

The Libertarian Party was formed in Colorado Springs by a group that was led by
David Nolan on December 11,1971, and founded on July 17. The main idea that caused it to form
was price controls and to end the Gold Standard that was implemented by President Nixon. In 1971,
the Libertarian Party fielded its first candidate for the presidency in the next year's elections. Finally,
in 1980, they were added onto the ballot in all 50 states due to their presidential candidate, Edward
E. Clark, had received over nine hundred thousand votes. However the number of votes was only
one percent of the national total, but let Libertarian Party become achieve high success for the first

Political Parties: The Whig Party
The Whig Party:
The Whig Party was a political party formed in 1834 by opponents of Andrew Jackson's policies.
Members of the Whig Party were united in their opposition to Andrew's actions on the Bank of the
United States, his ignorance to Supreme Court decisions and the Constitution, and Native
Americans. As the issue of slavery became more contested in American politics, the Whig Party
became aware of their disparate views on slavery. Within the party, they were divided between
Conscience Whigs and Cotton Whigs. Conscience Whigs wanted to abolish slavery whereas Cotton
Whigs supported slavery. This divide in opinion caused the party to split. Members who supported
slavery joined the Democratic Party and members who wanted slavery to be abolished ... Show

The concept was popularized during the Nullification Crisis of 1828 to 1834, which began as a
dispute over the passage of tariff laws that raised taxes on imports. Southerners felt it unfairly
targeted Southern states. John Calhoun, a powerful South Carolina politician, promoted the concept
of nullification and the right of states to nullify the tariff. They justified their opposition to the tariff
by citing the Northern "agenda" to interfere with slavery by impoverishing the South. Calhoun said
nullification would safeguard the slaveholding minority. Northern states advanced nullification and
used the concept of state's rights in their battle against the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, which
imposed stringent laws to catch fugitive slaves. As Northerners were compelled to see the institution
of slavery firsthand, they became enraged and refused to force fugitives into servitude. State and
local governments openly defied the law. Legislatures in Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut and a
list of other states passed "personal liberty laws", making it impossible to enforce the Fugitive Slave
Act in those states. The Wisconsin Supreme Court cited the 10th Amendment as protecting the states
from enforcing such laws. In New York, a jury nullified the law by acquitting a group of people who
were arrested for freeing a fugitive slave. Other such acts were

candidates failing to satisfy the American people, more citizens are beginning to look towards using
their votes for other candidates, rather than supporting the lesser of two evils. With so many people
losing faith in both their candidates and their political parties, it is important that the public know all
about the two leading third party candidates, namely Jill Stein of the Green Party and Gary Johnson
of the Libertarian Party. They experience reasonable success considering their lack of media
exposure and mainstream appeal, and this can be attributed to their relevant and well thought out
platforms. Stein and Johnson share a fair amount of common ... Show more content on

We have all heard of this concept and we know what it means, and the Libertarian Party takes this
notion for everything that it is worth. They support any policy that is tantamount to a weaker
national government. You can almost think of them as the Anti–Federalists of the modern era.
Government regulations, government restrictions and government taxation are deplored by
Libertarians nationwide. Government involvement in the daily lives of citizens is what they desire to
end, along with government control over the citizens' income. Likewise, they also do not support
Government programs or funding designed to better the lives of the people. Their ultimate goal is
for the government to have as little control with as little power as possible in today's day and age.
This belief in hands off government is indirectly contrary to the views of Jill Stein. Since she is
passionate in her desire to protect the planet and undo the damage done to it, she is quite obviously
against this concept. The big steps she wants to take towards achieving her goals cannot be done
without much government involvement. Regulations would need to be established and restrictions
would need to be placed, and they must be enforced by a well–funded, strong central government
for her plans to have a tangible effect. This is the key difference between Jill Stein and Gary
Johnson. They have platforms that conflict with one another, which makes them different from each

Political Parties And The Democratic Party
When looking at the history of US political parties, and classifying these parties into distinct party
systems, five separate periods emerge leading up to the current party system. When classifying these
party systems, it is important to look at characteristics such as the number of major parties, how
these parties seek to gain support, and how the parties organize themselves. The earliest American
parties were relatively centralized organizations that represented elite level concerns. They formed
mainly at the national level, with low levels of grassroots connections. The first national party to
come to prominence was the Federalist Party, who were opposed by the Democratic–Republican
Party. The main cleavage that divided these parties was the degree to which the federal government
should be centralize power. With the Federalist Party arguing for a stronger role and the
Democratic–Republican Party supporting greater rights for the states. Both the modern day
Democrats and Republicans are the result of a fracturing of the Democratic–Republican Party.
Internal conflict caused by the expansion of the country and the issue of slavery caused the party to
split and form the Democrats and with the remaining faction joining with the Whig Party to Oppose
the Democrats. Further division on slavery caused the Whigs to also fracture, giving rise to the
Republican Party, who arose as the anti–slavery faction of the party. During the period following the

The Democratic Party And The Republican Party
Politics has always been a controversial topic that has been actively separating the American society
for many years. It has been fueled by the different ideologies that have been formed and passed
down from past generations. The United States government has two front–running parties: The
Democratic Party and the Republican Party. These parties are both criticized by one another, and the
political candidates are kept under a microscope at all times. One wrong sentence has the ability to
bring the wrath of societal shame. With this term's presidential race the Republican Party and its
lead candidate have accelerated at these mishaps, which has conveyed a racial bias stigma. The
denotative meaning of the Republican Party is to be, relating to, or the nation of a republic. Each
party has a denotative meaning, but the connotative meaning is what viewed in the eyes of the
American society. Republicans are believed to be all white, rich, over privileged, business hungry,
and the oppressors of other minorities. In some situations, this noted description of a Republican is
factual, but to believe that the entire Republican party is born with wealth and racial hate towards
minorities is stereotyping at its finest. With a large institution, such as the Republican Party, two
main views of stereotypes stand out. The first being from Stuart Hall, which he states,
"Stereotyping, in other words, is part of the maintenance of social and symbolic order. It sets up a

Third Party Case Summary
What is a Third Party Liability?
WHAT IS A THIRD PARTY?
In a workplace injury, the third party is someone other than a co–worker or employer. It could be a
manufacturer, another individual, a municipality, another company or a vendor – anyone who, due to
negligence, may have participated or caused the work–related injury or illness.
WHAT IS THIRD–PARTY LIABILITY?
Third–party liability transpires when a worker that has been injured or a person that has suffered a
job–related illness makes a claim against someone other than their employer for monetary damages.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PERSONAL INJURY/THIRD PARTY LIABILITY
CASE AND WORKERS' COMPENSATION?
When you get injured at work or suffer from an occupational disease, you are generally covered by
Workers' Compensation which compensates you for medical expenses and some lost wages.
However, Worker's Compensation does not cover you for long–term losses of income, for
permanent medical conditions or for ongoing losses of income from the effects of a workplace
illness or accident. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay about parties ,
While a lot of people think that spending a lot of money on arranging birthday and wedding
celebrations are just a waste of time, others think that parties are really important for the community.
Both sides are strongly debated and have to be discussed carefully before giving an opinion.
Some people argue that celebrating their special events is very crucial for several reasons. Firstly ,
happy moments have to be memorized to give us hope in hard days. For example, birthday parties
can motivate children and younger ones to do better and to feel determined . Secondly ,Some
moments are really precious as it happens once in lifetime .For instance , Wedding parties .lets

Finally, for tourism and traveling to the most beautiful countries, one is in extreme need for learning

Political Parties And Democratic Parties
"A political party is defined as an organised group of people with at least roughly similar political
aims and opinions, that seeks to influence public policy by getting its candidates elected to public
office," (Roles and Definition of Political Parties). A person's opinions on certain issues helps
categorize them into a party. There are many different political parties in the United States today,
such as the Liberation Party, the Green Party, and the Independent Party. The two major political
parties in the United States, however, are the Republican and Democratic parties. These two parties

The Republican Party later received the nickname, The Grand Ole Party. This nickname started after
the end of the Civil War because the Republicans were the winners. The Republican Party was
founded for the same reason as the Democratic Party, to help classify voters, but the two parties
have disagreed on most issues still to this day.
The Democratic Party was founded in 1792, a few decades before the first Republican Party
meeting. "The party can trace its roots all the way back to Thomas Jefferson when they were known
as Jefferson's Republicans and they strongly opposed the Federalist Party and their nationalist
views," (Eleanor). They were first called Republicans, and later changed their name to the
Democratic Party. "It adopted its present name during the Presidency of Andrew Jackson in the
1830s," (PBS). This party was created and changed its name before the Republican Party even
existed. The Democratic Party is the oldest political party in the history of the entire world. Thomas
Jefferson and James Madison are responsible for founding the Democratic Party, when it originally
had a different name. Since that time there has been fifteen Democratic presidents starting with
Thomas Jefferson and ending with Barack Obama.
The members of the Democratic Party originally all lived in the southern part of the country. They
were not as rich as the northerners, but the average person did own more land. These southerners

For FreedomWorks and AFP, the involvement primarily revolves around pushing the organizations'
agendas through the movement, and in hopes that the Tea Party would be successful in achieving
those goals. Looking at these specific national organizations, it is imperative to have the knowledge
of their origins and funders. Both FreedomWorks and AFP can be traced back to a Koch–supported
and directed think tank, Citizens for a Sound Economy (CSE), which then broke off into
FreedomWorks and AFP following their breakup in 2003. Libertarians Charles and David Koch,
collectively known as the Koch Brothers, are notorious in funding right–wing political figures
specifically those with plans to reduce taxes and remove regulations on businesses. Other factors
conservative business elites are interested in funding include the privatization of Social Security and
reducing social welfare programs – essentially cutting government spending and reducing taxes on
the wealthy. The high level of funding towards national advocacy groups suggests the "ideological
right–wing billionaires and their advocacy organizations not only want to push their own ideas and
values; they want to break the organizational capacities of their political opponents" (2012: 105).

Political Parties And The Democratic Party Essay
Introduction:
Originally political parties were seen as skeptical by our Founding Fathers and therefore opposed.
However, today our government has political parties. Political parties attempt to gain control of the
government and influence its decisions. The two most influential parties in American government
are the Republican and Democratic Party. These two parties have very contrasting beliefs which
they present in their platforms. Democrats believe in "the need for intervention by government in
the form of more and bigger programs" and agree that there must be fairness in government
regulations and freedom of expression. Republicans however, have more conservative values and
cultivate the importance of family and the efforts made by individuals. They, unlike the Democratic
Party, prefer to keep the power out of the hands of the government. Political parties' business and
actions affect every American. Especially when the political party is governing and practicing its
beliefs. The structure of marriage, education, taxes, and defense spending are all topics that
influence the daily lives of American individuals. That is why is it is important to know where each
political party stands.
Marriage and Family:
Republicans describe marriage as "the union of one man and one woman" and their regulations
revolve around these ideals. They state that children's emotional and physical health is stronger
when they are raised in a household with two parents. To Republicans, natural

Essay Labour Party Is the Party of Devolution
"The Labour Party is the party of devolution." Is this a reasonable statement to make?
Devolution is defined as "the transfer of power to a lower level, especially by central government to
local or regional administrations" (oxforddictionaries.com). It can also be defined as "the transfer of
power from a superior sovereign to a subordinate parliament or assembly." (Tonge 2010). Within a
devolved state, the sovereign power retains the technical power to suspend the devolved
government. Since Labour came into power in 1997 under Tony Blair, power has been devolved
from Westminster to Scotland, Wales as well as Northern Ireland. Devolved government was created
in both Scotland and Wales after majority referenda in the respective countries; ... Show more

Furthermore it is important to regard the Liberal Democrats as a party of devolution. Finally it will
look at whether regional devolution has a future within the UK or if the referenda on the North East
Assembly was the final straw making the notion of "a party of devolution" redundant. Firstly, the
Labour party of the 1970s and 1980s. Prior to the 80s, the Labour party did not have a lot to say on
devolution. It was only the rise of support for nationalism and nationalist parties that prompted the
Labour party to reconsider its stance on regional devolution. "The Labour party had traditionally
been seen as being in favour of centralised political authority, with Westminster the location for that
authority" (Deacon and Sandry, 2007). This quote from Deacon and Sandry's "Devolution in the
United Kingdom" gives an overview of what the Labour parties "traditional" stance on the idea of
devolved power has been and this certainly suggests that the Labour party is a party of devolution.
In recent times the Labour party has been on the side of devolution apart from a clash of views
which split the party in the 1979 devolution referendum. However before this referendum in the
Labour party's 1974 election manifesto, devolution did not get so much as a look in, suggesting that
perhaps Labour were not the party of devolution. Nevertheless two days prior to the general election
being announced, a union block vote

Political Parties : The Democratic Party
Kelly Kidwiler Table 3 Essay on political parties September 19, 2015
The Democratic Party today is facing many problems many of which, can be overcome. As the head
of the Democratic Party I have solutions to the problems that we face as a party. The main obstacles
that we face today include: increasing our voter turnout, attracting new millennial voters and
securing the Latino vote in the upcoming election. If these issues are addressed we are on track to
have a very successful election.
The biggest obstacle that we face today is increasing our voter turnout rate for all elections.
Republican's recent success can mostly be attributed to their consistently higher voter turnout.
According to Aaron Blake from Washington Post Democrats actually outnumber Republican voters
it's just a matter of getting our Democrat voters to come to the polls on election days. Republicans
voters are on average older people and they are losing votes because their supporters are literally
dying. As this trend continues Republicans will slowly lose votes which means if we can simply
show up to vote our odds of success are very high. I think that the main way to entice Democratic
voters to show up on Election Day is to stress to all voters that it is impossible to get their opinion
across if they don't vote and that they are basically obligated to vote since they live under a
Democracy. We have the right to vote and it is extremely important to express that right. There

The Green Party

  • 1. The Green Party Bernie Sanders fever is sweeping the across the country. After a credible showing in Iowa, he is well placed to win New Hampshire. The most astonishing thing about this is that he has managed to turn socialism from a taboo in American politics into a norm. His run and prominence has led to 43 percent of Iowa caucus voters to self–identifying as socialist (Scher 2016). The problem is that actual socialists are in some cases rooting against Senator Sanders. His candidacy has led to a split amongst socialists, with some feeling that he is a bona fide socialist while others feel is a "socialist in name only" (Scher 2016). As a whole, the parties that would be considered socialist do not place well in elections. The Green Party, which is probably the most well–known party with socialist aims, had 469,627 votes in the 2012 election according to the FEC. While not massive, it still dwarfs the totals of parties with the word "socialist" in their name. Combined, they received a whopping 86,528 votes in 2012 (FEC). Many feel that Sanders has "sold out", by pledging to support billionaire–backed Hilary Clinton should she win (Scher 2016). Many within the far left feel that Sanders' campaign is pulling votes and interest away from true socialist parties and policies, and could weaken the platform overall. Most socialist parties prefer to stay united behind one candidate, in this case the Green's Dr. Jill Stein, and get on the ballot consistently rather than be split with Sanders' ... • 3. Third Party Parties The 2016 presidential election has brought many surprises and upsets. Both major party candidates are viewed unfavorably by many American citizens. This makes some Americans question: is it time for a third party to gain political power and help our faltering two party system? In the article, "Is It Time for a Third Party?", Patricia Smith provides information about third parties and how a third party might be able to rise up to compete with the main two parties in the future. Smith effectively develops her ideas by explaining third parties, including graphics to better explain her thoughts, and discussing how the current atmosphere may allow third parties to rise to prominence. Smith provides a better description of third parties by explaining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The article also includes colorful graphics that better explain concepts in the article. These graphics also keep the reader engaged by presenting information in a different way. • 5. The Democratic Party And The Whig Party During the time periods between the 1830s and 1840s, two political parties: the Democratic party and the Whig party had faced the challenges among their ideological differences on the role of federal government in the economy and the westward expansion, but did compromise in certain ways. The one–party system of Monroe's presidency had led to the creation of a two–party system under the presidency terms of Andrew Jackson. The supporters of President Jackson were known as the Democrats and the supporters of Henry Clay and Daniel Webster, rivals of Jackson, came to be known as the Whigs. The Democrats were influenced by Thomas Jefferson, whereas the Whigs were influenced by Alexander Hamilton. The Democrats were in favor of states' rights and opposed the growth of a powerful central government. Democrats also favored in rapid territorial and external growth. The Whigs were in favor of a stronger federal government that was dominated by Congress. Whigs also favored gradual territorial expansions and internal improvements. In future reference, the Democratic and Whig party created the two political parties in which we see today, the Democratic and Republican Party. To start off, Henry Clay and the Whigs "... developed a platform called the American System, which advocated increased powers for Congress; strong central control over foreign affairs and military issues; high tariffs and a national bank to build the economy; and extensive infrastructure improvements–financed and ... • 7. The Democratic Party And The Republican Party Two political parties have dominated the United States: the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. The term "Third party" is used in the United States to describe any political party besides the well–known Republican and Democratic parties. Examples of third parties include the Libertarian Party, The Green Party, and the Constitutional Party. Unfortunately, these third parties have a hard time gaining political representation at the federal level. The historic route Democrats and Republicans trace back in the United States, the systematic influence of the Electoral College, financial contributions, and lack of media coverage all give a substantial reason as to why the newer third parties that emerged in the years after the major political parties have a hard time gaining political representation at the federal level. Third parties in the United States have represented social and economic interests that the two major political parties failed to give voice to. These particular parties for example some include the Green party, Libertarian party, and Constitutional party, have a great influence on ideas and elections in the United States. In the rural areas of the West and Midwest¬, the Populists and the Progressives, and the candidates for the urban middle classes in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries are the most important examples in the past century. In the most recent of years, Independent candidate H. Ross Perot, who ran in the election in 1992 and in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Democratic Party Of The Republican Party Convention Speeches America is considered as a global superpower, and has a critical role to play in the global socioeconomic and political landscape. Critical examination of US presidential elections show that they draw widespread attention from across the globe. In many instances, the major political parties differ significantly on policies, a prospect that may work to the advantage or the disadvantage of the candidate for Democratic Party of the Republican Party. Trump further pointed out that large fractions of the US annual budgets are set aside to finance the international economic obligations of the country. As such, the Republicans pointed out that cutting such parts of the budget would help to boost the American economy and to reduce budget deficits. Further, the sect outlined that the allies of America will have to pay if the country is to offer military assistance and other services. Through this strategic approach, the republicans equally believed that returning American troops home and abandoning international missions would help save revenues that, in their view, are wasted on programs that do not directly benefit the American people. Ideally, the Republicans exhibited belief that continued involvement of America in international aids and assistive missions would affect the economy negatively, and would make America vulnerable in the global market (Smith 3). On debt, Donald Trump recounted his experience as a business mogul to be a value that will help him overcome the economic barriers and ensure that the country does not accumulate debts. Another fundamental subject that was explored in the Republican convention was trade between America and the international community. The Republican Party noted that America was getting raw deals in many instances. They cited the case of trade between America and china in which the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I didn't just pick this party I wanted to go against Trump but because of the views it has, the good person Barack Obama is, and the good he has done to this country. • 13. The Republican Party Or Grand Old Party The Origin, The Change, The Present The Republican party or Grand Old Party (GOP), for over 150 years, has maintained itself as a major political party within the United States of America. As a whole, the republican party follows the belief of military build up ,less taxes, and more importantly, a limited government. However, throughout recent years there has been an influx of conservative values being spread throughout the GOP. These values include harsh stances against: homosexuality, immigration, and abortion. This recent "conservative trend" has caused many to see the party as out of date. Ironically, it has not always been like this, as the party was once what would be defined as "liberal". These liberal views included support of "conservatism" and universal health care(http://www.marketwatch.com/story/four–things–republicans–used–to–believe–2011–07–18). So, what happened? In short, the conservative influx in the 1950s would lead to this drastic change of views, which would lead us to today 's far right republican party. In order to– The Origins Of the Republican Party The GOP would begin in the early 1850's as an Antislavery party in do part to the Kansas–Nebraska Act of 1854 . • 15. The Populist Party And The Socialist Party The Populist Party is often referred to as the party of and for the people, and is labeled as such because it was, very candidly, founded by the common people, such as farmers and other laborers. While this party was in power, they had many ambitions and ideas that they sought to spread to others, and aspired to achieve. To understand the topic completely, one requires a general knowledge of the formation of the populist party, the elemental beliefs, goals and ideals, and how the downfall of the party came about, as this will aid in the understanding of the populist party's want of free coinage of silver and how it would have helped debtors initially, but would have had a comprehensive and unfavorable effect on the American economy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, almost all of the populist party could be put under one label: Debtors. The farmers involved sought to regulate prices and make them affordable, while industrialists sought to regulate the hours in a work day. The people were left in great debt and hoped that these actions may soon begin to lift the economic depression that they were facing. The main idea of the populist party was to unite the common and poor people so that they may gain power as a group, and allow the aforementioned group to gain and retain more power and say within the operations and actions of the government. Although the party began as a group of upset farmers, soon after the movement to create this party had begun, it caught the attention of others. Some industrial workers, and a few stray others shared similar views as these southern and western farmers, and decided that they would join the party, in hopes of also gaining authority, and had hope to attempt to stop the declining economic condition. Although at first, other political parties saw the populists as humorous, the party began to grow, causing more and more people to be forced to recognize that the populists were gaining power, and should be taken seriously (Edwards). It started in Kansas, when William Peffer became the first populist senate member, and shortly after, the party began to grow. The party soon developed two different branches: Fusionists, ... • 17. The Democratic Party And The Republican Party For centuries, two main political parties, the Democratic Party, and the Republican Party, have divided the United States government. The Democrats are considered the liberal political party and can trace its roots all the way back to Thomas Jefferson when they were known as Jefferson's Republicans and they strongly opposed the Federalist Party and their nationalist views. Republicans are considered the conservative political party and try to uphold more traditional values. The Republican Party came into existence just prior to the Civil War due to their long–time stance in favor of the abolition of slavery. In 1860, they became an established political party when their nominee Abraham Lincoln was elected as President of the United States. Since their inception, the Republican and Democratic Party have had many disputes about policies. One of these major debates has focused on educational funding in the United States. The parties have different views on the education system of the country, but both agree there needs a change in some way. Democrats favor more progressive approaches to education, such as implementing the Common Core System, while Republicans tend to favor more conservative changes such as longer hours and more focused programs to better educational resources. In Virginia, Republicans from 1990 to 2013 worked to provide better educational funding more prominently than Democrats. I took the political party quiz and answered the questions as honestly as I could. I found the questions to be very interesting and versatile. After viewing my results I looked into The Green Party some more. I am basically an environmentalist and believe taxes are affecting the lower classes and something needs to be done about it. I agreed with all of these issues. 2. The top 5 issues are jobs, families, health, education and infrastructure. These have been goals of the Democratic Party for many years. I believe these are interesting goals and also ones I believe have issues. There's plenty of room for improvement when it comes to securing family funds, giving jobs to everyone who qualifies for them, and improving the education we give to our young citizens. 3. When it comes to jobs, the Democratic Party has worked with President Obama to stabilize the financial system and help prevent a second degree depression. Since the recession 15 million private sector jobs have become available and the unemployment rate has dropped 5% for the first time in the last decade. The Democratic Party has also helped expand public options when it comes to education. They decided they were going to pay teachers like any other professional and thought about rebuilding schools. • 23. Democratic Party Vs. Democratic Parties Since the beginning the United States the its form of government has been considered unique. While it is different from many other forms of government it gives each U.S. citizen the ability to speak their mind on who they believe their country should be governed by and what laws they should be governed under. In making these decisions citizens generally take a side, Republican or Democrat. Republican and Democratic parties are two of the nations oldest political parties however, when they originated the Republican party was the Democratic party that we have today and the Democratic party was the Conservative party we have today. To put that in simpler terms, the Democratic party were the Confederates in the civil war while the Republican party was the Union. Democrats of that time favored a limited government, supported the idea of manifest destiny, and fought for the continuation of slavery whereas the Republican party of that time opposed slavery, favored government policies such as nation currency, high tariffs, or increased funding on the university system. The switch to the parties we know today is said to have happened gradually between 1872. While the party system today is flipped from the original Democratic and Republican parties it still flows from historic roots but the reasoning's and demographics behind who identifies as Liberal and who identifies as Conservative has advanced. • 29. College Parties In College Attending university for the time is an experience like no other. Many students go from being coddled by their parents to complete independence. This newly found freedom can result in a couple of outcomes, this can be categorized as those who choose to party and those who don't. Partying is a university stereotype, you see it movies and have most likely heard some eventful stories from a family member. Dissimilar to high school, there are no 'popular kids' throwing exclusive parties, everyone is welcome. Yet the necessity to conform to the 'party' crowd is still present. It has become a societal norm. Almost like, if you're not partying, you're not attaining the full university experience. Overall partying can be described as an event/celebration in which most people are enjoying themselves, typically letting loose through the use of alcohol and drugs. Everyone parties for a different reason. For myself, the world of partying often leads to meeting new people, along with the liquid courage, socializing becomes easier. For other's it may act as release. After another continuous week of studying and completing assignments, partying can act as something to look forward to. In university, students typically party from Thursday to Saturday every weekend. Whether it's a going to house party, bars or clubs, there is always something going on. After a long week, students usually decide what they're going to do, typically meeting up on Thursday to begin the weekend. The duration ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. The Democratic Party The Democratic Party was formed in 1792. Its name was adopted in the 1830s during Jackson's presidency. It is the "world's oldest existing political party" (Democratic Party). The Northern and Southern Democrats had issues dealing with slavery, which caused them to split in 1860. According to the "Democratic Party", the Southern Democrats wanted to protect "slavery in all the territories while many Northern Democrats resisted." The party was also known as the "white man 's party" and demonized the Republican Party as being "Negro dominated," even though whites were in control" (Democratic Party). The party's platform deals with a lot of controversial topics. For example, abortion. Democrats believe "Abortion rights are "fundamental constitutional liberty" and abortion should be available regardless of a woman's ability to pay" (ABC News). They believe that abortion is completely up to the parents of the child. Another example is education. They want "affordable preschool for all children, higher teacher salaries, higher standards for teachers, students and states, triple number of charter schools, [and] let more parents choose from among public schools" (ABC News). In 2015, "the President announced a landmark proposal to make community college free to anyone who is willing to work for it" (@TheDemocrats). They want to make it easier for children attending school and allow teachers to earn a better salary. Another issue is gay rights. The Democrats are all for them. They ... • 33. The Republican Party And The Democratic Party Essay The Republican Party has long relied on the support of older, white, conservatives. Regrettably, they are a shrinking portion of the voting population. The problem that they face is a shrinking voter base, mainly due to age. As their electorate shrinks, it is imperative for the party to appeal to the more liberal younger generations for support. The Republican Party needs to look forward to true reform. Above all, the party needs to abandon much of their social conservatism to appeal to millennials ' interests to stay relevant on the national political scene. David Frum offers four potential solutions for where the Republican party can go from here. He himself believes that the first two considerations of doubling down on elite–backed candidates or "tactical concession" on immigration are unhelpful and too narrow respectively. Therefore, his most confident considerations are in his third and fourth options. His fourth choice to keep the Republican party relevant is, in his words, to "change the rules of the game." (Frum 2016) Parties are in favor of processes that help advance their (or limit the other party's) political and ideological goals. Frum recognizes that outside of the presidential election, Republicans have done quite well on down ballot elections. For this reason, they have the ability to exert considerably more control over voting and election processes than Democrats. For example, having the ability to gerrymander as well as change voter registration rules ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, different current events can shift the way that Americans identify with parties, even if they have had a strong loyalty to one party for their entire life. While young adults may not have as high of a voter turnout as older generations, this is not necessarily the only way to measure the political activity of a cohort. When the research by Lewis–Beck was published, social media was only beginning to become popular. Facebook was only four years old, and Twitter only two. Now, the younger generation has taken to social network services, like Facebook and Twitter, to spread voter education. • 37. The Democratic Party And The Republican Party Every four years, the United States' citizens elect a new president. The election is held in November, but campaigning starts almost a whole year before the election month. Candidates compete on a daily basis for the one position some people only dream of holding. With this election on the horizon, voters need to take time to understand who the contenders are and what their main objects will be once they arrive in office. In politics today, two parties exist; the democrat party and the republican party. Out of the pair of organizations, the democratic party remains as the world's oldest political party. It was first founded in the year 1828 by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. The Jeffersonian Republican or Democratic–Republican party ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conservatism means that people believed in the rule of anti–communism, and also believed that the American traditions are the way the government should be ran along with Protestant values. Each party is represented by an animal and also a color; red elephants for republicans and blue donkeys for democrats. When looking at the economy today, it is rather on a plateau. A few years ago, the economy was heading in the wrong direction, but after current president Barack Obama was elected into office, he managed to sign many bills into effect which in turn helped bring our economy back up. Illegal immigration into the country has sky rocketed in the past ten years. The number of illegal immigrants flowing into the country is approximately seven hundred thousand each year. Personally, I believe that this number is entirely too high. The United States has a specific law about illegal aliens and how they must have a piece of paper called a green card in order to live in this country as an immigrant. These people of course are not considered citizens because they were not born in America, which is primarily the reason behind the law. Along with these issues, I also believe that the military and our veterans are treated with disrespect. Currently, we have been involved in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Know-Nothing Party: The American Party The Know–Nothing Party, also known as the American Party, was a secret party that was very well known and came from middle class and working class backgrounds. I was a political group from the United States between the years of 1840's to the early 1850's. This group was an anti–immigration group that also opposed followers of the Catholic church. The Party For Freedom And The Socialist Party By definition, Nationalism is an ideology in which a group's recognition and espouse of their identity, as a nation, is expressed based on a common origin, in addition to the desire to spread their global influence. Through analysis of the Netherlands Party for Freedom (PVV) and the Netherlands' Socialist Party (Socialistische Partij) alongside the World Values Survey, I will assess the values of each party and compare their supporters through various variables in order to further examine Nationalism. In comparison of the Party for Freedom and the Socialist Party, I will focus on the country's answer toward the question: "Which party would you vote for if there were a national election tomorrow," as well as analyze the various demographics involved. The Netherlands is run based upon a parliamentary representative democracy with both parties analyzed containing the same number of seats within the parliament. Thus, both parties, despite having different worldviews, carry similarities throughout the nationalistic views of the Dutch people. In order to inaugurate the analysis, we must begin by determining the nationalistic views within the Netherlands and understand the basis behind each party. The Party for freedom is a right–wing nationalist party, while the Socialist Party is a left–wing social democratic party. Political parties perform important tasks in government. In fact, "political parties select candidates and check the other party. Political parties also inform the public. The U.S is one of the very few countries with only two dominant parties and there is so much attention focused on only two parties in the United State. In addition, the two parties, Democrats and Republicans, have essentially crowded out the other minor parties. However, the Jacksonian, laissez faire supporting Democrats and the economic nationalistic Whig party shared almost no beliefs except for the removal of American Indians in the areas their supporters wished to settle. The lack of similarities is because the Whigs formed their own party to oppose President Jackson's strong–armed leadership style and policies which earned him the nickname "King Andrew." The Jacksonian Democratic Party evolved out of the Democratic– Republican Party in the early 1800s, the core of its membership was composed of farmers, immigrants, and white Southerners. The Democratic Party tends to be more liberal and support the views like same sex marriage, immigration, and social and economic equality. Many of the views the party stands for and beliefs tie to my beliefs. Some of the key priorities of the Democratic Party are the Economy, Poverty and Homelessness, Education, Healthcare Policy, Social Security and Medicare, Immigration, and Gun Policy. First, as a new Democratic nominee running for President their economic positions are made clear. To reach the goals that Democrats want for our country 's economy, Democrats have made it their priority to cut taxes for working families and tax the rich more in tax increases. • 51. Political Parties And The Republican Party Platform Generally speaking, anyone who lives in the United States of America knows that there are two main political parties–the Republicans and the Democrats. Having two main parties has its advantages and, of course, its disadvantages. For example, in By the People James E. Monroe and Rogan Kersh (301) point out having this type of system creates "predictability and stability." However, they also declare (301) it can "lead to a gridlock." This is not a new concept either as there has been a divide since the beginning of both parties. The two parties more often than not disagree on various issues, while rarely agreeing on what is best for the country. Democrats and Republicans highly differ when comparing views on climate change. The Democrats accept human role in climate change while many Republicans question if climate change is even real. In the 2016 Democratic Party Platform (27), they state "in the first 100 days of the next administration, the president will convene a summit of the words best engineers, climate scientists, policy experts, activists, and indigenous communities to chart a course to solve the climate crisis." This is highlighted previously when President Obama, a Democrat, traveled to Paris for a convention about climate change where he met other leaders around the world to make a plan to help fix the issues surrounding climate change. The concept was popularized during the Nullification Crisis of 1828 to 1834, which began as a dispute over the passage of tariff laws that raised taxes on imports. Southerners felt it unfairly targeted Southern states. John Calhoun, a powerful South Carolina politician, promoted the concept of nullification and the right of states to nullify the tariff. They justified their opposition to the tariff by citing the Northern "agenda" to interfere with slavery by impoverishing the South. Calhoun said nullification would safeguard the slaveholding minority. Northern states advanced nullification and used the concept of state's rights in their battle against the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, which imposed stringent laws to catch fugitive slaves. As Northerners were compelled to see the institution of slavery firsthand, they became enraged and refused to force fugitives into servitude. State and local governments openly defied the law. Legislatures in Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut and a list of other states passed "personal liberty laws", making it impossible to enforce the Fugitive Slave Act in those states. The Wisconsin Supreme Court cited the 10th Amendment as protecting the states from enforcing such laws. Government regulations, government restrictions and government taxation are deplored by Libertarians nationwide. Government involvement in the daily lives of citizens is what they desire to end, along with government control over the citizens' income. Likewise, they also do not support Government programs or funding designed to better the lives of the people. Their ultimate goal is for the government to have as little control with as little power as possible in today's day and age. This belief in hands off government is indirectly contrary to the views of Jill Stein. Since she is passionate in her desire to protect the planet and undo the damage done to it, she is quite obviously against this concept. The big steps she wants to take towards achieving her goals cannot be done without much government involvement. • 59. Political Parties And The Democratic Party When looking at the history of US political parties, and classifying these parties into distinct party systems, five separate periods emerge leading up to the current party system. When classifying these party systems, it is important to look at characteristics such as the number of major parties, how these parties seek to gain support, and how the parties organize themselves. The earliest American parties were relatively centralized organizations that represented elite level concerns. They formed mainly at the national level, with low levels of grassroots connections. The first national party to come to prominence was the Federalist Party, who were opposed by the Democratic–Republican Party. The main cleavage that divided these parties was the degree to which the federal government should be centralize power. With the Federalist Party arguing for a stronger role and the Democratic–Republican Party supporting greater rights for the states. Both the modern day Democrats and Republicans are the result of a fracturing of the Democratic–Republican Party. Internal conflict caused by the expansion of the country and the issue of slavery caused the party to split and form the Democrats and with the remaining faction joining with the Whig Party to Oppose the Democrats. Further division on slavery caused the Whigs to also fracture, giving rise to the Republican Party, who arose as the anti–slavery faction of the party. It has been fueled by the different ideologies that have been formed and passed down from past generations. The United States government has two front–running parties: The Democratic Party and the Republican Party. These parties are both criticized by one another, and the political candidates are kept under a microscope at all times. One wrong sentence has the ability to bring the wrath of societal shame. With this term's presidential race the Republican Party and its lead candidate have accelerated at these mishaps, which has conveyed a racial bias stigma. Each party has a denotative meaning, but the connotative meaning is what viewed in the eyes of the American society. Republicans are believed to be all white, rich, over privileged, business hungry, and the oppressors of other minorities. In some situations, this noted description of a Republican is factual, but to believe that the entire Republican party is born with wealth and racial hate towards minorities is stereotyping at its finest. • 73. Political Parties And The Democratic Party Essay Introduction: Originally political parties were seen as skeptical by our Founding Fathers and therefore opposed. However, today our government has political parties. Political parties attempt to gain control of the government and influence its decisions. The two most influential parties in American government are the Republican and Democratic Party. These two parties have very contrasting beliefs which they present in their platforms. Democrats believe in "the need for intervention by government in the form of more and bigger programs" and agree that there must be fairness in government regulations and freedom of expression. Republicans however, have more conservative values and cultivate the importance of family and the efforts made by individuals. They, unlike the Democratic Party, prefer to keep the power out of the hands of the government. Political parties' business and actions affect every American. Devolution is defined as "the transfer of power to a lower level, especially by central government to local or regional administrations" (oxforddictionaries.com). It can also be defined as "the transfer of power from a superior sovereign to a subordinate parliament or assembly." (Tonge 2010). Within a devolved state, the sovereign power retains the technical power to suspend the devolved government. Firstly, the Labour party of the 1970s and 1980s. Prior to the 80s, the Labour party did not have a lot to say on devolution. It was only the rise of support for nationalism and nationalist parties that prompted the Labour party to reconsider its stance on regional devolution.
