Protestant Churches Decline
Protestant denominations in contemporary America are declining, while non–denominational
churches are seeing an increase in membership. One of the principal reasons is losing the young
people. If the church continues to lose interest of the younger generations, then the likelihood of the
generations to follow will also not attend, as most children follow their parents. The churches losing
members and not being replaced with members, inevitably decreases the membership. A spokesman
for the UMC stated the membership of the United Methodist Church would cease to exist if the
church did not start reaching out to more people, especially the younger, diverse crowd (Methodists
grow abroad, continue slippage in U.S., 2011). Moreover, the Presbyterian Church has shrunk as
well (Ostling, Bonfante, Dolan, & Harris, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evangelical churches are aggressive in their radio and television broadcasts, reaching numerous
amounts of people at once ((Ostling, Bonfante, Dolan, & Harris, 1989). A tradition once held by the
Protestant denominations, more specifically, the mainline churches. Of course, cultural differences
are also impacting the decline. The Protestant denominations of before, were predominately white
congregations. In today's times, the African American populations are attending the black Protestant
churches. While marketing, culture, and demographics are a few of the reasons for the decline, in
my opinion, I believe today's generations choose a church based upon their own personal preference.
I have to feel good in my church and I believe others feel the same way. If you experience a
judgmental feel or the beliefs preached conflict with your interpretation, then you visit other
churches. With the numerous amounts of churches, especially the growth in non–denominational
congregations, the Protestant decline was bound to

Carp Fishing Tips
Whats the alternative to lead weights?
In this article I would like to talk about some different ways of getting more out of your carp fishing.
Recently I have started to do a few things differently and I think it is making a difference.
Firstly the length of hooklink. Over the last few years articles have talked about using shorter
hooklinks but I don't see many people using them, I'm talking about very short 21/2 – 3inches. I
reckon some anglers are not keen on this because your bait is sitting very close to the lead, but your
bait is not always the length of your hooklink away from the bait anyway, lots of times when you've
cast the bait follows the lead down and could be sitting right next to the lead unless when you
tighten up you move the lead! If you don't like your bait very close to the lead why is that?, is it
because you think carp can recognise danger when they see the lead! I reckon on well fished waters
carp are cautious of leads that's why I've starting using the 'Stonze'. ... Show more content on

All the anglers fished the same lake and used the 'Stonze' system with the very short hooklinks and
used the method with Pallatrax boilies. Over 48 hours 984lb of carp were caught plus tench and
roach.
Images curtesy of Brian Atkins 2003©
I noticed that directly you cast out you would get small fish attacking the method and would get
bleeps and knocks until the bigger fish moved in and you would get a run. If we had all used 3oz
leads and 10 inch hooklinks I'm convinced we wouldn't have caught so many fish. If you use long
hooklinks carp can pick up your bait and move twice the distance of your hooklink before they
tighten to the lead.

Religious Persecution of Christian Beliefs
Religious Persecution of Christian Beliefs What is religious persecution? At the beginning of this
project, I thought religious persecution was a black and white topic with a clear definition. I thought
that religious persecution was simply the persecution of a group because of their religious faith.
However, I discovered that there are no simple explanations of religious persecution, and it is a
much more complex and controversial issue than I had imagined. In fact, some events categorized as
religious persecution reveal only shades of grey and ambiguities and do not neatly fit this simple
definition. I wanted others to come to this same understanding. Therefore, I have formulated my
own definition of religious persecution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A majority of Democrats (72%), political independents (53%), and pastors from NCC
denominations (66%) agreed with the statement, compared to a minority among Republicans (32%)
and pastors from NAE–member denominations (29%). Interestingly, a majority of ministers agreed
with the statement "Persecution of Christians because of their faith is a major problem in the United
States." Sixty–one percent of all pastors agreed with this statement, although just 16% agreed
strongly, while the rest agreed somewhat with the statement. Although Republicans (72%), political
independents (60%), and evangelical pastors (70%) were more likely than other groups to claim
religious persecution in the United States is a major problem, a significant proportion of Democrats
(35%) and pastors from NCCC–member denominations (46%) also agreed with the statement. More
Christians have died for their faith in the 20th century than in the previous 19 centuries combined.
Each year, about 150,000 are martyred, two million are being actively persecuted, and millions more
are living with their religious freedoms severely restricted. Religions make claims about the nature
of the world, the origin of man, the means of salvation, and so on. The Constitutional freedom of
religion gives citizens the right to believe these claims, and freedom of speech gives them the right
to make these claims publicly. Freedom of religion is not a prize for governments to award

Gay Marriage Thesis
Marriage is the legally or formally recognized union of two people as partners in a personal
relationship. Marriage is one of the most beautiful things that can happen between two people. It can
be simply done even as easily as online, or your local court house. The marriage of the same gender,
however, is not as easy done. Not only are homosexual couples faced with the judgment of the
people they are also denied of their basic rights by the courts. Gay marriage has been one of the
most controversial issues in the modern world currently. With many people discovering themselves
and finding love with the same gender there have been a gap in the relationship and the ability to get
married. People only view marriage as the union between a man and ... Show more content on

This is one main reason why people do not want it to be legal. It would deeply offend people of
many religions. Christian, Jewish and Islamic people all do not believe in gay marriage and says that
it is against their beliefs. Gay marriage is known as a sin in many religions. According to a study
done by Perry, Samuel L. and Andrew L. Whitehead "suggest that religious identity and subculture
likely play a role in how religious factors relate to public opinion toward different same–sex
practices. First, there is greater unanimity for the effects of religious practice and theological
conservatism on evangelical attitudes than for mainline Protestants or Catholics. For evangelicals,
frequent religious practice was a strong predictor of opposition toward gay sex, marriage, and
adoption, whereas for mainline Protestants and Catholics, religious practice was unrelated to support
for same–sex marriage or adoption." Their research showed that the more religious the person was
the more likely they were against ay same–sex activities. Their study shows that not only do
religious people not same–sex relationships, that they do not want no part in their marriages.
Although it is against many peoples, religions I still believe that people should be entitled to their
rights. If one chooses to mare one of the same sex they should have the opportunity to do

The protestant Christianity was divided into two parts in America. They were Mainline and

The Christian Right emphasized the traditional ethics, morality and family value. They were like the
fertile soil for the growth of the New Christian right movement. The new Christian Right carried out
activities mainly in the form of secular and social action group, rather than in the name of religious
organizations. Among these, the most influential were the Moral Majority and Christian Coalition.
This religious community had a variety of ways to influence the public social policies.
The New Christian Right as an important force participated in politics, the most prominent feature
was that it could mobilize the social resources it had rapidly in a very short period of time, and
formed an overt and powerful political offensive. The offensive's formation was inseparable from its
unique activities. The new Christian right is dissatisfied with the decline of traditional religious

Voting In The United States
In American history, voting has been a direct involvement of the public with the government.
Patterns based on the structure of voting have emerged to demographically section the voting
population. Scholars have found that these voting patterns can be followed by studying the political
activity of different religious groups. From the 1960s to our most recent elections, voting patterns
among these groups have fluctuated as well as stayed constant. The reason for such changes, or lack
thereof, can be credited to a number of social issues such as abortion, gay rights, and other major
secular controversies as well as the historical context from where their political decisions arise.
These patterns show that some people experience pressure from ... Show more content on

With aspects of the Catholic Church being forced to assimilate and cater to a wider public because
of immigration, there became more of a separation between races instead of the usually rivalry
against the Protestants. Many white Catholics, with affluence coupled with being well educated,
moved to the suburban areas where they were typically surrounded by their own kind, while their
children went to schools that had a wide variety of religious backgrounds. Between the 1980s to our
most recent election, the vote has definitely alternated between candidates of different political
parties. However, many factors also play into this frequent deviation, such as the loss vitality of the
Catholic Church due to church scandals, lower mass attendance, decreased child attendance of
parochial schools, lower occupancy of religious careers, and sexual education (Fowler, 91). With all
of these variables, the Democratic support among white Catholics decreased to primarily those

Marketing Plan For American Airlines
In 2015, American Airlines (AA) posted a record profit of $7.6 billion, which also included special
items. A large portion of this gain came from the forth Quarter, which netted a $3.3 billion profit.
AA credits a large portion of their success in 2015 to the plummeting oil prices, which was warmly
welcomed across the airline industry. Fuel, which is a third of AA's operating cost, declined 40.8%
in consolidated cost.
In 2014 AA reported $597 million in the 4th quarter. The full year netted $2.9 billion in gains. The
success of AA in 2014 and 2015 is a stark resemblance of the company that loss $2 billion in in the
4th quarter of 2013 as it pulled itself out of bankruptcy. In addition to the falling fuel prices AA
points to its merger with US Airways as an additional factor that was instrumental in turning the
company around.
Before 2014 and 2015, AA last record setting year was 1998 when it earned $1.31 in profit. After the
attacks on September 11, 2001, AA struggled to make a profit for more than a decade. From 2001 to
2011 AA lost a total of $11.5 billion, reporting a lost eight of the 10 years. This put AA in unfamiliar
territory far off from the 1980s and 1990s where it was one of the most consistently profitable
airlines. One of the vast reasons for AA slump was the untimely purchase of Trans World Airlines
(TWA) in April 2001. This purchase along with a slowing economy, which further spiraled
downward after 9/11, created a formula for disaster for

Sun Country Airlines
Sun Country Airlines
Sun Country Airlines was started in 1982 by a small group of pilots and flight attendants in
Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota. After Braniff shutdown in 1982, Ken Sundmark approached Bob
Daniels, a cofounder of Mainline Travel Incorporated about forming a charter service that would
combine the assets of Mainline and the airline expertise of the now unemployed Braniff crew.
Eleven Braniff pilots, two cabin attendants, an attorney, and a financial consultant (Links to an
external site.) shared 49 percent ownership and Mainline 's principle owners, retained the other 51
percent.
Sun Country Airlines was incorporated in July 1982 but implementation of service was delayed by
higher than expected start–up costs. Sun Country 's inaugural flight was from Sioux Falls to Las
Vegas. The company quickly became profitable. The headquarters were located in an old freight
building. That space and the rented hanger had once been Braniff 's. Sun Country flew only flew one
aircraft in the beginning, a Boeing 727–200.
During the early days, Sun Country employees had multiple roles to perform. Company executives
flew aircraft. Flight attendants acted as receptionists and even baggage handlers when necessary.
Pilots updated manuals and cleaned the company 's aircraft.
Sun Country was unlike other U.S. charter companies in that it depended primarily on vacation
travel business, and was concentrated around the Midwest 's peak tourist season, January through
mid–April. In

Delta and The Future of The Airline Industry Essay
IV. The Future of the Airline Industry
The Airline Industry is in an interesting situation. Simply adding a low cost alternative is not enough
in the industry. The Internet has made the power of buyers grow with the transparency of ticket
prices. This is not something that will change any time soon. Because of this profitability is
predominately reserved for low–cost yet distinctive carriers. No consumer wants to ride what they
consider a "lesser" airline. Airlines need a way to distinguish themselves from one another while
also acknowledging the increased power of buyers. The future of the industry is in JetBlue's "cheap
chic" style. Airlines need to maintain a cost effective price point while also not appearing cheap.

Through similar mergers in the 1980s and 1990s, Delta extended its reach into trans–continental and
international markets (Rivkin 7–8). According to its stated position today,
"Delta Air Lines serves more than 160 million customers each year. With an industry–leading global
network, Delta and the Delta Connection carriers offer service to 356 destinations in 65 countries on
six continents." (Delta.com).
The result of this objective is the third largest commercial carrier in the world, having a strong
presence in major hubs such as Atlanta, Dallas, Cincinnati, and Salt Lake City (Rivkin 8).
As with all airlines, Delta's recent performance has been significantly impacted by industry shifts
and external events. Terrorist attacks and escalating costs have significantly impacted Delta's
profitability in recent history (Rivkin 4). The company has also been losing valuable market share to
the low–cost carrier Southwest Airlines throughout the southeast and specifically in the lucrative
Florida market (Rivkin 8). JetBlue also began encroaching on key Delta routes, and this seems only
likely to increase (Rivkin 9). Despite this, Delta has still performed better than any other legacy
carrier (Rivkin 8). Still, recent history has brought several changes to this legacy carrier, and the
company has turned its attention towards new competitive strategies.

African Catholic Church And The Church Of South Africa
Botswana Botswana is a predominantly Christian country situated immediately north of South
Africa. It came under the influence of Christianity in the first half of the 19th Century through the
missionary activities of Robert Moffat, David Livingstone, and other representatives of the London
Missionary Society (1817). They succeeded in establishing what is known today as the United
Congregational Church in Southern Africa (UCCSA). Their arrival opened the missionary field to
other churches namely the Dutch Reformed Church (1871), the Lutheran Church (1891), the
Anglican Church (1900s), the Methodist Church (1940s), the Seventh Day Adventists (1922) the

person shall be hindered in the enjoyment of his freedom of conscience, and for the purposes of this
section the said freedom includes freedom of thought and of religion, freedom to change his religion
or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others, and both in public and in private,
to manifest and propagate his religion or belief in worship, teaching, practice and observance'. As a
result, the churches in Botswana are many and varied. According to the latest Government Gazette,
there are more than 1,500 registered churches with many more still waiting to be registered. It
should be noted that in the interest of public safety, public order, public morality and public health
and for the purpose of protecting the rights and freedoms of other persons, the Government enacted
the 1972 Societies Act. This Act requires all churches in Botswana to be registered with the
Registrar of Societies at the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs (MLHA) in the Department of

Why Do Americas Decline In Religion
Americas decline in religion The decline in religion across America is most likely related to the
increase inIndividualism, among many Americans in the 21st century. "The decline in religions
practice has gone down 29% from the Silent generation to the younger Millennial" (Decline of
mainline Protestantism and Catholicism). Many argue that culture influences, portioning to college
and other environments, would be the greatest factor in the big question as to why Americas on a

Sacrifice In Margaret Atwood's 'Spelling'
The term "sacrifice" can provoke different connotations, whether it is through religion, or giving
something up for someone else, or and offering. Regardless, sacrifices have become a staple in
culture throughout history, and the meaning has shifted and grown with time. In Margaret Atwood's
poem, "Spelling" images of women and sacrifice become a prevalent part. The poem speaks to
women who have made sacrifices and the literal sacrifices that women have become through the
course of history. Atwood, through the images and tales of sacrifice, exposes the oppression of
women as authors and as mothers, and more specifically through the act of language and writing. In
the second stanza of the poem, the narrator of "Spelling" poses the question of how many women
have sacrificed having daughters, in order to pursue their careers as writers, as well as the action
needed for a women writer to accomplish this: I wonder how many women denied themselves
daughters, closed themselves in rooms, drew the curtains so that they could mainline words. (7–11)

How Parent's Religious Affiliation Affects the Way
Parenting methods have been affected by numerous factors over the years. Parenting is something
that is obviously successful or in the worst case, has failed miserably! We found that the parents'
religious affiliation affects the way they raise their children. "The particular theologies theory posits
that different religious affiliations put varying efforts into emphasizing family–formation strategies"
(Pearce 2002: 325). Religious affiliations, inspired parents to be fervent on implanting strong
morals, maintaining close relational ties within their family, and encourage positive community

Furthermore, discipline doesn't always have to be punishing a child; sometimes it is simply
instructing and guiding them as to what choices to make, so that they don't have to be disciplined
when they find themselves at a crossroad and they end up on a road that isn't very beneficial. "If
parents focus on making their children knowledgeable on the `space between places' in social
relations–not on individuals or families or particular institutions, but on the space where these
important social bodies intersect, they will help their children avoid bad decisions (Schweigert 1999:
170)." Conservative Protestant parenting literature suggests that training children in the virtues of
obedience is the first step toward their worldly success and eternal salvation, while neglect of this
gradual obedience training may ultimately result in the burden of failed parenting, and it also will
have detrimental affects on the children. One issue that could be researched further is how "the
global values of obedience and autonomy may hold divergent meanings for different segments of

Water Shortage In California Essay
How to Prevent Water Shortages from Ruining Crops in California.
The water shortages in California are causing hardships on the agricultural industry. There isn't
enough fresh water to support both the human population and the natural environment. One way to

various types of irrigation systems that waterlog the soil, they should increase the use of a drip–

The component that accounts for the majority of the cost is the engine and pump ($2,500). The

delivery system, filters, pressure regulators, valves/gauges, chemical injectors, and controllers. The
main component of a drip irrigation system is the delivery system. This component is constructed of

The majority of pipeline failures are caused by undetected corrosion of the pipe (1). A real–time
corrosion detection technique that does not require access to the entire pipeline would allow for
maintenance and repairs to be done before a failure occurs, saving time and money, reducing or
negating environmental damage, and easing political pressure and social stigma on pipelines.
Pipeline failures can relate to each aspect of the STEEP model. When a pipeline fails, it effects the
surrounding environment by leaking hazardous gas and hydrocarbons into the ecosystem. In
addition to the environmental affects, the economical effects are drastic. Between 2002 and 2009,
pipeline companies spent over $600,000,000 on pipeline failures (1). Social and political stances on
pipelines are very crucial right now, as pipelines have a stigma in the media because of the damage
and loss of life failures cause. If we can reduce or negate these failures, social and political support
for pipelines should grow, enabling more pipelines to be built across the world. From my research, I
have not found any corrosion detection techniques out there that do what I am proposing. A real–
time corrosion detection technique would allow companies to detect corrosion in
underground/underwater piping systems without having to excavate, or dive and inspect them. A
wireless technology that can be introduced to a piping system capable of detecting corrosion or a
corrosive environment

Big Boy History
The Big Boy, a machine of immense size and power. It is among one of the most well known
locomotive classes ever built. The size of 85 feet (132 feet including tender.) the Big Boys (4–8–8–
4) were behemoths, capable of pulling a massive amount of freight. So large was the Big Boys that
they were almost twice the size of a modern diesel–electric engine. The Big Boys, however, were
practically two locomotives, joined together. This was called an articulated engine, meaning it had
two separate groupings of driver wheels, each set with its' own piston. The engines were often
described as "Mallet" type articulated locomotives, however, a true Mallet has compound expansion,
the steam was used to power the locomotive in multiple ways, while the Big ... Show more content

The morning started out with a routine tour of duty, hauling 62 freight cars and a caboose. Little did
the crew know that down the mainline another event was unfolding. A track gang and a foreman
traveled by motorcar to pick up some switch ties. When the group arrived at Red Desert, they were
approached by a sheep herder, who needed assistance getting his sheep across the tracks. The
foreman assigned two men to flag each direction of track. He also ordered that switch of each side
of the passing track to be opened. (That means that the switch is in a middle position, not thrown to
either side, which will always lead to derailment.) This would cause the signals to indicate a stop
signal. As one of the men opened up the siding switch, he saw 4005 roaring down the track, the
workman tried to close the switch before the engine could pass... it was too late. The engineer
applied the emergency brake, however, at the time 4005 was going about 50 MPH (80 KPH). The
engine, tender, and first 18 cars turned on its' side, The massive and near full tender smashed into
the cab of 4005, destroying it completely. Although the engineer and brakeman were killed instantly,
the front brakeman survived the wreck and gave an account as to what happened. "The switch, they

The Young and the Realigning: A Test of the Socialization
David E. Campbell in his article "The Young and the Realigning: A Test of the Socialization Theory
of Realignment", Campbell decides that he wants to know what exactly is the reason for why more
and more people are identifying with the Republican Party instead of the Democratic Party.
Campbell spends a lot of time writing about if one of the key factors for people identifying with the
Republican Party is religion; primarily between Catholics and Protestants. Along with religion,
Campbell goes through a series of variables that he believes to be the cause for the Republican Party
getting more and more identifiers. Campbell's research question is; "specifically, this article tests
whether younger voters have been more likely to realign along religious versus secular lines– as the
literature on party identification and realignment suggests they should"(210). Campbell never really
states his theory, he basically summarizes his theory instead of blatantly stating it. "I start with the
premise that the Republican and Democratic parties are divided among religious lines. This cleft is
not denominational– Catholic versus Protestant– as it has been historically; instead, it is between
religiously committed and secularly oriented voters. This test which elements of theory developed
upon observation of the New Deal party system apply to another period of changing electoral
coalitions and thus potentially to such eras generally" (210).

Pentecostalism Research Paper
The second major movement occurred during the neo–charismatic renewal of the 1960s.
Pentecostalism began to gain acceptance and respect in the white–middle class in part to a change in
attitude of social mobility, greater disposable income and suburbanization due to the economic
boom following World War II. Alister McGrath attributes the specific event to an even in Van Nuys,
California in 1960. McGrath writes:
The rector of the local Episcopalian church, Dennis Bennett, told his congregation that he had been
filed with the Holy Spirit and spoken in tongues. Reaction varied from bewilderment to outrage; the
local Episcopalian bishop promptly banned speaking in tongues from his churches. However, it soon
became clear that others in the mainline ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This theology and the growth of the movement, especially in the Assemblies of God denomination,
threatened the status quo as evidenced by the response of the heart of evangelical leadership. The
Pentecostal and charismatic movement's impact on the landscape of Christian spirituality today is
undeniable. Prior to the advent of Pentecostalism, there had largely been a loss of interest in power
of the Holy Spirit. So much so, that American holiness followers believed that they had been called
to re–Christianize the Church. It is not surprising then that Pentecostalism, raising out of the
holiness movement, rekindled interest in spiritual gifts associated with the Holy Spirit. As Mark
Knoll aptly suggests:
If turning points could be identified in the history of Christian spirituality, renewed appreciation for
the person and work of the Holy Spirit would certainly qualify as such a turning point in the recent
past. Pentecostal and charismatic movements have led the way in this recovery, but fresh attention to
the Spirit's quickening, sustaining, guiding, convicting, and nurturing work now appears

Bathroom Proposal Essay
For many decades, the LGBT community has been bashed and mistreated for simply expressing
themselves and their same love. Now a bathroom bill that goes against people of the LGBT
community who identify themselves as their preferred gender are not to use the bathroom of their
preferred gender is in the works. I cannot say that I fully agree with this bill, but I also do not
completely disagree with the proposed bill, I guess you can say I am on both sides of it. With my
argument, I do not intend to alienate the LGBT community at all, they have my full support on their
decisions, but when discussing this bill, there is so much that can go wrong. Which is why I believe
that the proposal of the bill should be seen from more than one perspective ... Show more content on

Almost four of every ten (39%) support such laws. Quite, about one of every ten (8%) Americans

when it comes to the passing or opposing of this bathroom bill. We must look at the pros and cons of
the whole idea. How it will benefit the community and how it could possibly hurt the community. If

These limitations of the OS were not a problem for networking operating systems like Juniper's
JUNOS and others that emerged ten to twenty years after Cisco IOS. Cisco's response to the
problem was to develop a newer version of the IOS dubbed IOS XR which boasted memory
protection between processes, pre– emptive scheduling, lightweight threads, and the ability to
independently restart failed processes. Cisco IOS XR uses a third party RTOS or real time operating
system microkernel called QNX and big part of the current IOS code was re–written to take full
advantage of the features offered by the new kernel. One thing about the microkernel is that it
removes for the kernel all processes that not one hundred percent required to be ran by the kernel, it

environment, but still provides the software upgrade capabilities that customers need and want.

Heart Religion Research Paper
"Heart religion" is another strong characteristic of evangelicalism. Since the reformation, when
Martin Luther (1483–1546) called the sacramental system of the medieval Roman church as the
"Babylonian Captivity of the Church", protestants had the tendency to distrust tradition . But the
process of the Protestantism was changing the meaning of faith from faith–expectancy to faith–
doctrine. People even once attempted to verify one's position as a Christian by accepting correct
creeds . Only when the era of Evangelicalism came, personal conversion was seen as a norm for
Christians, there was an outburst of desires to have powerful, transforming personal encounters with
God. Religion became a personal choice based on personal experience not just ... Show more

From its theology, the central of the movement was an intense experience of being filled with the
Spirit or of awakening to a new life through the transforming power of the Spirit. The process of
charismatic spirituality was from Search, searching for the God who is revealed in Christ, to
Encounter, encountering with the same God by means of the Holy Spirit, and then Transformation,
being transformed or renewed as the consequences of the encountering experiences. From its
practice, the charismatics had given a full expression to the importance of experience. Especially
their personal and deep worship, the worshippers were given freedom to express a wide range of
human sensibilities: singing, clapping, concert prayer, the praise choruses, and kinesthetic
movements together provided avenues of expression. Besides it, a variety of "modes of sensibility"
in their ritual, including celebration, contemplation, transcendental efficacy, penitent/purgation,
ecstacy, improvisation (ritualization) and ceremony, "helped to orient and animate their practices. "
As a result, the charismatic ritual created "a cultural domain for deeply felt expressions of human

Why Should We Vote To Vote Essay
Different factors can determine how a person could vote such as religion, but this doesn't mean that
person with a factor will always vote that way. There are other things to consider as well, but
According to scientists, they have concluded from research that this is how the majority of the group
votes.
There are several religions in United States since we have freedom of religion such as Protestants,
Roman Catholics, and Jewish. Mainline Protestants are Presbyterians and Methodists which they
vote liberal, but other Protestants vote conservative. Mainline has traditional values but recently,
they have been adopting modern views such as bible verses should be interpreted in today's world.
They are accepting of other faiths or beliefs, open to LGBT and their rights, and having women in
their ordinances. Looking at how their beliefs are more open, this could be reason why they vote
liberal. Other Protestants are stricter values such as having prayer in school, abortion, homosexuality

could be that Catholics are taught from early age not to focus on one issue when it comes to politics,
so the best option is to overweight what should work from them. According to scientists, they are
influenced by social justice issues such as education, taxes, the poor, and many more, which could
pull them more to Democrats since that is what they support. FDR was the biggest influence on

Religious Differences
While researching the proportional decline of Protestant denominations in contemporary America,
"Pew Research Center's 2014 Religious Landscape Study finds that 14.7% of U.S. adults are
affiliated with the mainline Protestant tradition – a sharp decline from 18.1% when our last
Religious Landscape Study was conducted in 2007. Mainline Protestants have declined at a faster
rate than any other major Christian group, including Catholics and evangelical Protestants, and as a
result also are shrinking as a share of all Protestants and Christians" ("Mainline Protestants Make

Lastly is the trust versus the lost confidence in religious institutions. The scandal, hypocrisy, and lies
have often been brought to light by the technology we now have (Reiss, 2015). As we do research
on school work, church, or just search the internet, technology has been able to put lies and
nonreliable sources out there. These nonreliable sources can influence the thoughts or can question
our believes and causing some people to become agnostic and question our institutions.
Furthermore, as we analyze other religions there are three that are at the top of the rapid decline with
the Protestant religion. "The declines within mainline Protestantism have been seen across a variety
of denominational families (including Methodists, Lutherans and Presbyterians) as well as within
specific denominations. For example, the share of those who self–identify as part of the United
Methodist Church (the largest single mainline denomination) has fallen from 5.1% of U.S. adults in
2007 to 3.6% in 2014" (Mainline Protestants Make Up Shrinking Number of U.S. Adults", 2015).
In conclusion, "as the U.S. grows more racially and ethnically diverse, mainline Protestants remain
one of the most heavily white Christian traditions. The share of mainline Protestants who are non–

religious non–affiliation, Americans of all ages have been trending downward since the late 90s and
early 2000s (Wormald, 2015). As older more religious generations die, there are fewer younger

Southwest Airlines Case Study
A. Situation Analysis a. Explain a brief history of the organization and past successes/failures. –
Southwest airlines began in 1971 using a strategy unlike any other airline at the time. Starting out in
Texas, with only three planes, they flew between the Texas cities of Houston, Dallas, and San
Antonio (Coulter, pg 250). Their primary goal was to get their passengers to their destinations, on
time, at the lowest possible fares, and to provide a fun atmosphere for their customers. They focused
on providing short–haul routes with fares that were competitive with driving. Today, Southwest
serves 101 destinations across the United States, as well as eight additional countries, and operates
more than 3,900 flights a day. (Southwest , 2017) They have achieved a record 44 consecutive years
of annual profitability, while staying true to their goal of providing the highest level of customer
service at the lowest fare. In 2016 they ranked number 1 in customer satisfaction according to
statistics listed by the Department of Transportation, with and average passenger airfare of $149.09
one way trip. (Southwest , 2017) – However, despite their continued success, they have not gone
without challenges and failures. In 2008, they faced serious allegations regarding plane
maintenance. Two FFA officials reported that they had found issues with Southwest's planes and that
the company had failed to required inspections. b. Who are the primary competitors? – Southwest's
primary competitors are JetBlue and Spirit Airlines. These two airlines, like Southwest, focus on
innovation and low airfare costs. Among the largest airlines are American, Delta, and United.
However, these mainline carriers are far from posing any major threat to Southwest. (Coulter, pg
253) c. What core competencies and competitive advantages exist? – Some of the core competencies
and competitive advantages that exist in the Southwest organization are the low–fare and high
customer satisfaction ratings. The American Customer Satisfaction Index has rated Southwest first
among airlines for highest customer service satisfaction for over 17 years. In 2011, the Department

The Resistance Of Female Leadership
Advancing Scientific Knowledge
Phenomena under discussion: Disparity, discrimination, gender bias, and resistance to female
leadership in churches, and historical ties to modern churches.
Historic phenomena such as events, gender bias, tradition, and mistranslation may
influence/instigate the resistance to female leadership in mainline American Protestant churches
today and will be the main thrust of this study. The findings from this study may advance scientific
knowledge or add to literature by providing understanding about how traditions, gender bias,
organizational culture, and other phenomenological reasons play a role in the resistance to female
clergy. Furthermore, the study results will provide an educational tool that may lessen the resistance
to female clergy.
The theory: There are historical phenomena involved such as events, gender bias, tradition, and
mistranslation that continues to cause resistance to female leadership in Protestant churches in
addition to, or unrelated to biblical beliefs.
Significance of the Study
This study is significant because it is not known why historical phenomena continue to instigate and
influence resistance to female leadership in mainline American Protestant churches. Under
discussion will be: Disparity, discrimination, gender bias, organizational culture, and resistance to
female leadership in churches and historical ties to modern churches. This qualitative,
phenomenological study, in examining the collected data, reveals a

Re–reading Neumark's memoir also gave me good advice on how to stay sane during the hard work

Protestant Churches Decline

  • 1. Protestant Churches Decline Protestant denominations in contemporary America are declining, while non–denominational churches are seeing an increase in membership. One of the principal reasons is losing the young people. If the church continues to lose interest of the younger generations, then the likelihood of the generations to follow will also not attend, as most children follow their parents. The churches losing members and not being replaced with members, inevitably decreases the membership. A spokesman for the UMC stated the membership of the United Methodist Church would cease to exist if the church did not start reaching out to more people, especially the younger, diverse crowd (Methodists grow abroad, continue slippage in U.S., 2011). Moreover, the Presbyterian Church has shrunk as well (Ostling, Bonfante, Dolan, & Harris, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evangelical churches are aggressive in their radio and television broadcasts, reaching numerous amounts of people at once ((Ostling, Bonfante, Dolan, & Harris, 1989). A tradition once held by the Protestant denominations, more specifically, the mainline churches. Of course, cultural differences are also impacting the decline. The Protestant denominations of before, were predominately white congregations. In today's times, the African American populations are attending the black Protestant churches. While marketing, culture, and demographics are a few of the reasons for the decline, in my opinion, I believe today's generations choose a church based upon their own personal preference. I have to feel good in my church and I believe others feel the same way. If you experience a judgmental feel or the beliefs preached conflict with your interpretation, then you visit other churches. With the numerous amounts of churches, especially the growth in non–denominational congregations, the Protestant decline was bound to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Carp Fishing Tips Whats the alternative to lead weights? In this article I would like to talk about some different ways of getting more out of your carp fishing. Recently I have started to do a few things differently and I think it is making a difference. Firstly the length of hooklink. Over the last few years articles have talked about using shorter hooklinks but I don't see many people using them, I'm talking about very short 21/2 – 3inches. I reckon some anglers are not keen on this because your bait is sitting very close to the lead, but your bait is not always the length of your hooklink away from the bait anyway, lots of times when you've cast the bait follows the lead down and could be sitting right next to the lead unless when you tighten up you move the lead! If you don't like your bait very close to the lead why is that?, is it because you think carp can recognise danger when they see the lead! I reckon on well fished waters carp are cautious of leads that's why I've starting using the 'Stonze'. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All the anglers fished the same lake and used the 'Stonze' system with the very short hooklinks and used the method with Pallatrax boilies. Over 48 hours 984lb of carp were caught plus tench and roach. Images curtesy of Brian Atkins 2003© I noticed that directly you cast out you would get small fish attacking the method and would get bleeps and knocks until the bigger fish moved in and you would get a run. If we had all used 3oz leads and 10 inch hooklinks I'm convinced we wouldn't have caught so many fish. If you use long hooklinks carp can pick up your bait and move twice the distance of your hooklink before they tighten to the lead. Different Rig 3 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Religious Persecution of Christian Beliefs Religious Persecution of Christian Beliefs What is religious persecution? At the beginning of this project, I thought religious persecution was a black and white topic with a clear definition. I thought that religious persecution was simply the persecution of a group because of their religious faith. However, I discovered that there are no simple explanations of religious persecution, and it is a much more complex and controversial issue than I had imagined. In fact, some events categorized as religious persecution reveal only shades of grey and ambiguities and do not neatly fit this simple definition. I wanted others to come to this same understanding. Therefore, I have formulated my own definition of religious persecution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A majority of Democrats (72%), political independents (53%), and pastors from NCC denominations (66%) agreed with the statement, compared to a minority among Republicans (32%) and pastors from NAE–member denominations (29%). Interestingly, a majority of ministers agreed with the statement "Persecution of Christians because of their faith is a major problem in the United States." Sixty–one percent of all pastors agreed with this statement, although just 16% agreed strongly, while the rest agreed somewhat with the statement. Although Republicans (72%), political independents (60%), and evangelical pastors (70%) were more likely than other groups to claim religious persecution in the United States is a major problem, a significant proportion of Democrats (35%) and pastors from NCCC–member denominations (46%) also agreed with the statement. More Christians have died for their faith in the 20th century than in the previous 19 centuries combined. Each year, about 150,000 are martyred, two million are being actively persecuted, and millions more are living with their religious freedoms severely restricted. Religions make claims about the nature of the world, the origin of man, the means of salvation, and so on. The Constitutional freedom of religion gives citizens the right to believe these claims, and freedom of speech gives them the right to make these claims publicly. Marriage is one of the most beautiful things that can happen between two people. It can be simply done even as easily as online, or your local court house. The marriage of the same gender, however, is not as easy done. Not only are homosexual couples faced with the judgment of the people they are also denied of their basic rights by the courts. Gay marriage has been one of the most controversial issues in the modern world currently. With many people discovering themselves and finding love with the same gender there have been a gap in the relationship and the ability to get married. It would deeply offend people of many religions. Christian, Jewish and Islamic people all do not believe in gay marriage and says that it is against their beliefs. Gay marriage is known as a sin in many religions. According to a study done by Perry, Samuel L. and Andrew L. Whitehead "suggest that religious identity and subculture likely play a role in how religious factors relate to public opinion toward different same–sex practices. First, there is greater unanimity for the effects of religious practice and theological conservatism on evangelical attitudes than for mainline Protestants or Catholics. For evangelicals, frequent religious practice was a strong predictor of opposition toward gay sex, marriage, and adoption, whereas for mainline Protestants and Catholics, religious practice was unrelated to support for same–sex marriage or adoption." Their research showed that the more religious the person was the more likely they were against ay same–sex activities. Their study shows that not only do religious people not same–sex relationships, that they do not want no part in their marriages. Although it is against many peoples, religions I still believe that people should be entitled to their rights. If one chooses to mare one of the same sex they should have the opportunity to do ... • 11. Voting In The United States In American history, voting has been a direct involvement of the public with the government. Patterns based on the structure of voting have emerged to demographically section the voting population. Scholars have found that these voting patterns can be followed by studying the political activity of different religious groups. From the 1960s to our most recent elections, voting patterns among these groups have fluctuated as well as stayed constant. The reason for such changes, or lack thereof, can be credited to a number of social issues such as abortion, gay rights, and other major secular controversies as well as the historical context from where their political decisions arise. Between the 1980s to our most recent election, the vote has definitely alternated between candidates of different political parties. However, many factors also play into this frequent deviation, such as the loss vitality of the Catholic Church due to church scandals, lower mass attendance, decreased child attendance of parochial schools, lower occupancy of religious careers, and sexual education (Fowler, 91). • 13. Marketing Plan For American Airlines In 2015, American Airlines (AA) posted a record profit of $7.6 billion, which also included special items. A large portion of this gain came from the forth Quarter, which netted a $3.3 billion profit. AA credits a large portion of their success in 2015 to the plummeting oil prices, which was warmly welcomed across the airline industry. Fuel, which is a third of AA's operating cost, declined 40.8% in consolidated cost. In 2014 AA reported $597 million in the 4th quarter. The full year netted $2.9 billion in gains. The success of AA in 2014 and 2015 is a stark resemblance of the company that loss $2 billion in in the 4th quarter of 2013 as it pulled itself out of bankruptcy. In addition to the falling fuel prices AA points to its merger with US Airways as an additional factor that was instrumental in turning the company around. Before 2014 and 2015, AA last record setting year was 1998 when it earned $1.31 in profit. After the attacks on September 11, 2001, AA struggled to make a profit for more than a decade. From 2001 to 2011 AA lost a total of $11.5 billion, reporting a lost eight of the 10 years. This put AA in unfamiliar territory far off from the 1980s and 1990s where it was one of the most consistently profitable airlines. One of the vast reasons for AA slump was the untimely purchase of Trans World Airlines (TWA) in April 2001. This purchase along with a slowing economy, which further spiraled downward after 9/11, created a formula for disaster for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The workers will have to deal with how to be professional not to breach any information about other patients. They will also have to deal with personal vs. professional situations that may arise. In certain situations, it would be wise of the practitioner to broach the boundary issues with the client as early in their relationship as possible and discuss reasonable ways of handling potentially awkward circumstances in a manner that both find comfortable and in a way that protects the client's interests to the greatest extent possible (Frederic G. After Braniff shutdown in 1982, Ken Sundmark approached Bob Daniels, a cofounder of Mainline Travel Incorporated about forming a charter service that would combine the assets of Mainline and the airline expertise of the now unemployed Braniff crew. Eleven Braniff pilots, two cabin attendants, an attorney, and a financial consultant (Links to an external site.) shared 49 percent ownership and Mainline 's principle owners, retained the other 51 percent. Sun Country Airlines was incorporated in July 1982 but implementation of service was delayed by higher than expected start–up costs. Sun Country 's inaugural flight was from Sioux Falls to Las Vegas. • 21. Delta and The Future of The Airline Industry Essay IV. The Future of the Airline Industry The Airline Industry is in an interesting situation. Simply adding a low cost alternative is not enough in the industry. The Internet has made the power of buyers grow with the transparency of ticket prices. This is not something that will change any time soon. Because of this profitability is predominately reserved for low–cost yet distinctive carriers. No consumer wants to ride what they consider a "lesser" airline. Airlines need a way to distinguish themselves from one another while also acknowledging the increased power of buyers. The future of the industry is in JetBlue's "cheap chic" style. Airlines need to maintain a cost effective price point while also not appearing cheap. Small ... With an industry–leading global network, Delta and the Delta Connection carriers offer service to 356 destinations in 65 countries on six continents." (Delta.com). The result of this objective is the third largest commercial carrier in the world, having a strong presence in major hubs such as Atlanta, Dallas, Cincinnati, and Salt Lake City (Rivkin 8). As with all airlines, Delta's recent performance has been significantly impacted by industry shifts and external events. Terrorist attacks and escalating costs have significantly impacted Delta's profitability in recent history (Rivkin 4). The company has also been losing valuable market share to the low–cost carrier Southwest Airlines throughout the southeast and specifically in the lucrative Florida market (Rivkin 8). JetBlue also began encroaching on key Delta routes, and this seems only likely to increase (Rivkin 9). Despite this, Delta has still performed better than any other legacy carrier (Rivkin 8). Still, recent history has brought several changes to this legacy carrier, and the company has turned its attention towards new competitive strategies. II. It came under the influence of Christianity in the first half of the 19th Century through the missionary activities of Robert Moffat, David Livingstone, and other representatives of the London Missionary Society (1817). They succeeded in establishing what is known today as the United Congregational Church in Southern Africa (UCCSA). Their arrival opened the missionary field to other churches namely the Dutch Reformed Church (1871), the Lutheran Church (1891), the Anglican Church (1900s), the Methodist Church (1940s), the Seventh Day Adventists (1922) the Roman Catholic Church (1928) and Pentecostal Churches (1930s). On the other side of the debate, some religious leaders firmly believe the Sixth Commandment is a prohibition against murder and not a prohibition against the death penalty." 5 In 1989, a number of mainline and liberal faith groups filed briefs with the U.S. Supreme Court in the case ... Regardless, sacrifices have become a staple in culture throughout history, and the meaning has shifted and grown with time. In Margaret Atwood's poem, "Spelling" images of women and sacrifice become a prevalent part. The poem speaks to women who have made sacrifices and the literal sacrifices that women have become through the course of history. Atwood, through the images and tales of sacrifice, exposes the oppression of women as authors and as mothers, and more specifically through the act of language and writing. In the second stanza of the poem, the narrator of "Spelling" poses the question of how many women have sacrificed having daughters, in order to pursue their careers as writers, as well as the action needed for a women writer to accomplish this: I wonder how many women denied themselves daughters, closed themselves in rooms, drew the curtains so that they could mainline words. Parenting is something that is obviously successful or in the worst case, has failed miserably! We found that the parents' religious affiliation affects the way they raise their children. "If parents focus on making their children knowledgeable on the `space between places' in social relations–not on individuals or families or particular institutions, but on the space where these important social bodies intersect, they will help their children avoid bad decisions (Schweigert 1999: 170)." Conservative Protestant parenting literature suggests that training children in the virtues of obedience is the first step toward their worldly success and eternal salvation, while neglect of this gradual obedience training may ultimately result in the burden of failed parenting, and it also will have detrimental affects on the children. A real–time corrosion detection technique that does not require access to the entire pipeline would allow for maintenance and repairs to be done before a failure occurs, saving time and money, reducing or negating environmental damage, and easing political pressure and social stigma on pipelines. Pipeline failures can relate to each aspect of the STEEP model. When a pipeline fails, it effects the surrounding environment by leaking hazardous gas and hydrocarbons into the ecosystem. In addition to the environmental affects, the economical effects are drastic. Between 2002 and 2009, pipeline companies spent over $600,000,000 on pipeline failures (1). Social and political stances on pipelines are very crucial right now, as pipelines have a stigma in the media because of the damage and loss of life failures cause. If we can reduce or negate these failures, social and political support for pipelines should grow, enabling more pipelines to be built across the world. From my research, I have not found any corrosion detection techniques out there that do what I am proposing. • 73. Heidi Neumark Breathing Space Summary I first read Heidi Neumark's memoir, Breathing Space: A Spiritual Journey in the South Bronx, the summer before entering seminary. I was in my early twenties, having just served for two years as a campus ministry at the University of Pittsburgh. Attending seminary so that I could eventually work for a religious non–profit. That summer I had no intention of becoming a pastor. A friend recommended this book to me. As a fellow woman about to be in ministry, my friend believed I would find Neumark's memoir useful. I can look back now and see that reading this memoir planted the seeds of my call to ordained ministry. If Heidi Neumark can pastor a small, struggling church in the South Bronx, then maybe God might call me into an equally exciting ministry? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yes, we have less members than we did a decade ago. Yes, our building is old, and is in need of repairs. Yes, we have a budget deficit for the fifth straight year. But, our preschool is thriving. Our city is growing, and our new neighbors are looking for a community. Our food pantry is meeting the needs of dozens of families forgotten by our welfare system. When we look at our worshipping community through the eyes of grace instead of scarcity, we see a God who still has much God wants to do through our community. Re–reading Neumark's memoir also gave me good advice on how to stay sane during the hard work of church revitalization. Neumark writes about relying on the imperfect leadership of her lay leadership, because she cannot do all of the work herself.2 She writes about necessity of prayer if pastors want their churches to have a prayer against the powers that be.3 She writes about the joy her family brings her, but also the struggle of pastoring a challenging church and parenting a growing family.4 Finally, she writes about the necessity of friendship in sustaining her spirit as she lives out her call to ... With the amount of baby boomer pilots retiring there is a traditional way for them to be replaced: The pilots from the lesser paid regional airlines (Delta Connection, United Express etc. affiliates) interview and move up to the mainline carriers (American, Delta, United) and graduates from flight programs (Auburn, Embry Riddle, University of North Dakota) take the spots of the regional airline pilots. This system has been the way that civilian pilots have climbed the career ladder for years and has worked in the past, but currently it is running on borrowed time. The 2000s have been a hard time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Flightglobal and aviationweek magazine has numerous articles about the issues about the shortage and aviation news in general. The research I conducted is fairly neutral and many reputable sources have confirmed that there is a pilot shortage. A major limitation is my small sample of sources. They're hundreds of articles of the topic but I only picked a select few in the interest of time. Another limitation is that some of my sources are from blogs which are susceptible to being ...
