The art of story writing
for PPDT and TAT
SSB Simplified
The art of story writing in SSB
▪ The first and foremost thing ---Observe the picture like an eagle does
▪ Don’t miss out any details---Even a small thing can make a big difference
▪ Practice ,practice, practice well in advance
▪ My best tip—Write 5 diferent stories for a single picture(While practicing)
▪ Use a variety of themes throughout your 12 stories inTAT
▪ Bring positivity in the story(It’s a cliché)
▪ Try to connect the picture to your real life incidents(Believe me this will
make it very easy for you to write a story and also boost your confidence
The strucuture of the story
▪ Introduction
▪ Problem Statement
▪ Problem Solution
▪ Conclusion
Introduction-Structure of the story
▪ Include name,place,occupation,age
▪ Shouldn’t exceed more than 2 lines
▪ Girish was a 21year old engineering student from IIT Madras.
▪ Somnath was a 35 year old farmer from Bilaspur
▪ Ali was an young BSc graduate from Delhi university who had gone
to holidays to his village
▪ ….etc……..Hope you get it
Problem Statement-The structure of the story
▪ Introduce the problem in the story.
▪ This should also be a maximum of 2 to 3 lines
▪ Write down how the protagonist saw the problem.
▪ He had gone to his grandmother’s village. There he found out that there
was no computer teacher in the school.So…..
▪ While coming home he saw that a car dashed to a scooter and fled
away.He…..
▪ If you ask me what best makes a problem statement then my answer would
be the SRT questions. How meticulously the problem statements are
written. So have a look at them if you find it difficult to write the problem
statement. This will give you more juice for writing.
Problem Solution-Structure of the story
▪ This is the crux of the story.
▪ Make this around 8 to 10 lines
▪ Solve the problem or explain the steps taken by the protagonist in
doing something
▪ If its going for an adventure camp then you must write
▪ Deciding the place, making your friends agree to come, arranging the
equipment,arranging the transport,accommodation,food etc
▪ Successfully going for the adventure activity and then completing
it.Ensuring that everybody’s safety is ensured.Reaching back safely.
Problem solution-Structure of the story
▪ If its organizing a cultural event then you must write the following
things
▪ Deciding on the venue, number of guests, the itenary of the
event,setting the stage,arranging for the technical aspects,auditions
for the participants,hospitality for the guests,reception team,putting
up a good show,managing the volunteers etc….
▪ If its preparing for NDA written exam…
▪ At first understanding the syllabus to be prepared, then filling the
forms, making a suitable timetable to study and prepare, taking many
mock tests in advance, identifying where you are wrong and
correcting yourself. Then successfully writing and clearing the exam
Conclusion-Structure of the story
▪ Finally you have to end the story on a good note
▪ This can be of 2 lines
▪ The task gets completed or the problem gets solved. Everybody is
happy and satisfied. There is development and prosperity.
▪ So choose the conclusion according to the problem stated.
▪ Don’t end the story abruptly and on a negative note
▪ And don’t give prizes and gifts to the hero of the story in every
conclusion as it will make you look like a reward seeking personality
and gives a notion that you work only for rewards.

Some more tips and tricks
▪ Use different names
▪ By different names I mean names of different religions
▪ Indians are too obsessed with Ram,Raju,Ravi etc.
▪ So use Ravi,Rehman,Roshan Singh,Romeo also
▪ This makes your stories more international and secular
▪ Don’t always stick to agriculture and village stories
▪ In today’s scientific era you can write stories on lot of things like
social media,futuristic time travel,sci-fi stories,cyber crime etc
Some tips and tricks
▪ Write what you can do and not what you cant do.
▪ Your hero is a normal human being so he can do only normal
things. He cannot like 100 villians at a time like in south Indian movies
▪ If you are distributing works to your friends in a task ensure that you
execute whats the toughest thing and give menial tasks to your
friends.Instead if you do the other way round then it will depict that
you are running away from responsibilities. So be careful
▪ For a blank story prepare it well in advance…
▪ And for the images where the person seems to be thinking use your
imagination to the fullest and write the story
Let me know if its helping you…And share
your ideas too
▪ I pledge to make it much more simpler for you guys
▪ This is just the beginning of the series of videos
▪ I will try to provide the best of the content and just not blabber and give you
clickbait titles .I promise
▪ Thank you so much if you have reached till here.
▪ If you feel like my videos are worth watching and worth your time then do consider
subscribing to my channel and share it with all your buddies who may be going to
SSB any time in future
▪ The key to success is to be consistent. So don’t drop in the middle of the journey.
