2. Apache Outside of Ruidoso we have a Reservation. Most of the Native Americans in Ruidoso are Apache. Mescalero is the name of the Reservation. Reservation-A tract of land set apart by the federal government for a special purpose, especially one for the use of a Native American people.
3. A modern pow-wow is a specific type of event where both Native American and non-Native American people meet to dance, sing, socialize, and honor American Indian culture.
4. Food: Indian Fry bread Indian Tacos Corn Fry Bread normally used for Indian tacos and for normal consumption. These tacos are a variance from the Mexican taco we always have known. Corn is …………………… corn. There is not much more to say about it except to say that it is a very traditional food and is very ceremonial food commonly seen like this>
5. TRADITIONAL FOODS!! Modern-day native peoples retain a rich body of traditional foods, some of which have become iconic of present-day Native American social gatherings (for example, frybread). Foods like cornbread, turkey, cranberry, blueberry, hominyy and mush are known to have been adopted into the cuisine of the United States from Native American groups
6. School They get out of school for special occasions. Like Pow-Wows, family reunions, tribal competitions and blessings (birthdays). Free education through high school, and college if they keep a “C” average. Free lunch, drivers education, books, everything school related is FREE!
