2. Soap Trailer
Conventions of a soap trailer would be to introduce the trailer or
reveal a storyline depending on the purpose. It introduce the
characters of the new program or for a new storyline show
who is involved.
Magazine Cover
Conventions of a magazine cover is to show a main cover line
and other cover lines. Showing images and titles of the
programs and the magazine title
Poster
Conventions of a poster is to have a main image to do with the
program possibly showing characters to introduce them to the
audience, also including information of when the program
starts so that the audience knows as well as the title.
3. From research for all the products it showed that the type of
target audience that soaps are at aimed is wide and aimed at
everyone, but there wasn’t really a soap that was aimed mainly at
a younger audience so we decided to create a soap opera that
was mainly targeted at teenagers. The channel that we would
most likely use to show the program would Be BBC3 as it tends
to show programs that are aimed at a younger audience.
For the trailer and the poster the target audience would be for
teenagers as it would be more appealing to them as it introduces
the characters who are of a younger age and that will
demonstrate to the audience what kind of program this is and
who it will be more appealing to. The magazine cover however
could have a wider target audience as it could feature other
programs aimed at different audiences therefore attract an older
audience
4. From the research we found that there was no soap that was aimed
primarily at teenagers. This then lead us to the idea of creating a soap
that was aimed at teenagers and would be set in a school so that it could
relate to teenagers and including storylines that would also relate. We
then made our own individual scripts, storyboards and shot-lists. We felt
that by doing this it would create a stronger product as we all created
our own products that we could then combine together to create a final
one which would be a product.
The outline of the product was that there was going to be 6 main
characters that we were going to focus on, having different personalities
and possible stereotypes that would help relate to the target audience.
We included a popular couple, a nerdy girl, a wannabe and an
anonymous character.
The plot for the trailer would be that we would have one of the
characters walking down the corridor and then interact with other
characters to introduce them.
We thought that as they do this we should create possible storylines that
could happen later on so that the audience is interested in finding out
what happens next, like with Jessie and Billy.
5. When researching into similar products for the magazine it
helped me to know all the features that were needed and
what made a good magazine cover in order to attract its
audience. So in creating my drafts for the magazine cover, I
chose layouts similar to the ones that I researched which I
thought looked best. Then taking note of the type of
language that is used on the front covers I thought of cover
lines which I thought would grad and audiences attention
from researching other magazine covers and seeing the type
of cover-lines that they use.
6. From researching into similar products it helped
me with what sort of things to include on a poster
and from target audience what makes a poster
appeal to them. So I found that making the poster
try and reveal more about the product makes it
more successful so adding in images of the
characters would help to introduce them and
adding the name and when its starts and its
timetable would add to the conventions of a poster
as well as informing the audience on the new
product.
7. For the program we have decided to create a logo in order to
represent the program so that the target audience would
associate the logo with the program.
Here are the examples of logos that we have come up with.
We plan to show this in out trailer so that the
target audience would become familiar with it and
for my ancillary tasks I plan to show this logo as it
will show continuity throughout the products.

that is aimed at this particular target audience

From the trailer there are opportunities to suggest
possible storylines to the audience so that they will
be drawn it.
