3. Introduction
At this point in time observe the planet Earth, it is
quite different from the past. It drastically changed in
everything. The natural interactions of the living and non-living
things are quite deteriorating. How can people help the
Mother Earth bring back the natural compositions of life that we
had in the past?
Environment matters a lot as human, simply because the
environment-the Earth-is the home of all living and non-living
things. It is where to live, to breathe, to eat, to raise
children, and everything. The entire life support system is
dependent on the well-being of all of the species living on
earth, commonly referred to as the biosphere, a term created by
Vladimir Vernadsky, a Russian scientist in the 1920s. "The
biosphere refers to one global ecological system in which all
living things are interdependent."
Safeguarding Environment is to prolong the life of the
Mother Earth and to keep people free from harmful effects of all
kinds of pollution and the global changes. It has aims,
objectives and goals that need to be achieved and the principles
to be followed.

4. Safeguarding Environment: Our Earth, Our Home
2
Humanity is part of a vast evolving universe. Earth, a
home, is alive with a unique community of life. The forces of
nature make existence a demanding and uncertain adventure, but
Earth has provided the conditions essential to life's evolution.
The resilience of the community of life and the well-being of
humanity depend upon preserving a healthy biosphere with all its
ecological systems, a rich variety of plants and animals,
fertile soils, pure waters, and clean air. The global
environment with its finite resources is a common concern of all
people. The protection of Earth's vitality, diversity, and
beauty is a sacred trust.
The global situations are the dominant patterns of
production and consumption are causing environmental
devastation, the depletion of resources, and a massive
extinction of species. Communities are being undermined. The
benefits of development are not shared equitably and the gap
between rich and poor is widening. Injustice, poverty,
ignorance, and violent conflict are widespread and the cause of
great suffering. An unprecedented rise in human population has
overburdened ecological and social systems. The foundations of
5. 3
global security are threatened. These trends are perilous—but
not inevitable.
People challenged, it is a choice: form a global
partnership to care for Earth and one another or risk the
destruction of human beings and the diversity of life.
Fundamental changes are needed in values, institutions, and ways
of living. Realize that when basic needs have been met, human
development is primarily about being more, not having more.
Peoples have the knowledge and technology to provide for all and
to reduce the impacts on the environment. The emergence of a
global civil society is creating new opportunities to build a
democratic and humane world. The environmental, economic,
political, social, and spiritual challenges are interconnected,
and together people can forge inclusive solutions.
According to The international Earth Day proclaimed in 1970
by its founder, John McConnell, the Awareness and Knowledge
about the environment have increased dramatically. It is a well-known
fact that the biosphere continues to suffer from the
abusive impact of human populations and their technology. In
peoples activities strives to make the minimum impact on the
environment. Where it is unavoidable, strives to reduce the
negative effects as much as possible. In this endeavor, the
world governed by the requirements of environmental legislation
and likewise the standards of responsible business practices.
6. Safeguarding Environment protects the humans from harmful
effects of the environment nowadays.
Safeguarding defined as, " taking reasonable measures to
ensure that the risk of harm to a child’s or vulnerable adult’s
welfare is minimized. Where there are concerns about a child’s
or vulnerable adult’s welfare, all appropriate actions are taken
to address those concerns within agreed local policies and
procedures."
This means that whenever possible, a child or vulnerable
adult is kept free from harm and, if there are any concerns
about a child or vulnerable adult that everything is done to
address this within any policy and procedures guidelines.
Environmental Education is one of the essential parts in
safeguarding the environment, a process by which people
awareness, concern and knowledge of the environment and learns
to use this understanding to preserve, conserve and utilize the
environment in a sustainable manner for the benefits of present
and future generations. Environmental Education has common
goals, objectives and aims. This requires commitment to work
individually and collectively towards solutions of current
problems. It is to provide every person with opportunities to
acquire the knowledge, values, attitudes, and skills needed to
protect and improve the environment.

7. 5
The novel of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, entitled Emile
introduces a philosophy on environmental education in early as
the 18th century and it was echoed by Louis Agassiz, a swiss-born
naturalist, as he encouraged student to study nature, not
books several decades later, these two influential scholar
helped lay the foundation for a concrete environmental education
program known as nature study, which took place in the late 19th
century and early 20th century.
The goals of Environmental Education are to improve the
quality of environment, to create awareness among the people on
environmental problems and conversation and to create an
atmosphere so that people participate in decision-making and
develop the capabilities to evaluate the developmental programs.
Environmental Education also have an objectives such as the
awareness of people to acquire the sensitivity to the total
environment and its allied problems, the knowledge to help
social groups and individuals gain a variety of experiences and
acquire a basic understanding of the environment and its
associated problems, it also consider the attitudes to help
acquire a set of values and feeling of concern for the
environment and the motivation for actively participating in
environmental improvement and protections, people need also the
skills for identifying and solving environmental problems, the
participation to provide social groups and individuals with
8. 6
opportunity to be actively at all levels working towards the
resolution of environmental problems.
The basic aim of Environmental Education is to provide
different groups of people as well as graduate in a variety of
professional fields with the knowledge needed to develop a sense
of responsibility towards the environmental and the rational
utilization of its riches.
The importance of Environmental Education is increases
student engagement in science, improves student achievement in
core subject areas, provides Critical tools for a 21st century
workforce and helps address "Nature Deficit" disorder.
There are so many aspects of the environment which are
being affected today, problem with overpopulation, deforestation
and with many different things that ultimately lead to
devastation of natural environment. The following environmental
issues and concerns are the water pollution, air pollution,
waste and land pollution and climate change.
The Environmental Education has environmental principles
such as nature knows best- nature has the ability to regulate,
perpetuate and maintain its balance and keep both living and
non-living components stable, all forms of life are equally
important, everything is interconnected, everything changes-seasons
helps produce different flower, Fruit, vegetables and
other crops, everything must go somewhere- this law reminds us
9. 7
of the Law of Conservation of matter, peoples is a finite Earth-this
law tell us that there are limits to the population that an
area can support to prevent exhaustion of resources, stewards of
God's creation.
To realize these aspirations, people decide to live with a
sense of universal responsibility, identifying each self with
the whole Earth community as well as the local communities.
Peoples are at once citizens of different nations and of one
world in which the local and global are linked. Everyone shares
responsibility for the present and future well-being of the
human family and the larger living world. The spirit of human
solidarity and kinship with all life is strengthened when we
live with reverence for the mystery of being, gratitude for the
gift of life, and humility regarding the human place in nature.
10. Conclusions
If like most people, spend a great deal of time in home.
If there are dangers in the air to breathe, in the water to
drink, or from hazardous chemicals at home, they need to be
managed quickly and effectively. How much more to the world as a
whole, people need to help each other to manage and to respond
to the problems virtually. Unfortunately, many people don't know
about their potential risks until it is too late and problems
have already occurred.
An essential point to understand a safe, healthy
environment requires good environmental quality, free from any
pollution and a reliable drinking water supply, as well as
protection of our cultural heritage and unique natural values.
The planet Earth is the only home that people have. Many experts
believe that it can reverse some of the harms the planet has
suffered from. The challenge is getting enough people to take
drastic sufficient action so that they can make a difference in
lifetime.

11. Recommendations
As the world becomes increasingly interdependent and
fragile, the future at once holds great peril and great promise.
To move forward, people must recognize that in the midst of a
magnificent diversity of cultures and life forms, people are one
human family and one Earth community with a common destiny. Join
together to bring forth a sustainable global society founded on
respect for nature, universal human rights, economic justice,
and a culture of peace. Towards this end, it is imperative that
the peoples of Earth declare the responsibility to one another,
to the greater community of life, and to future generations and
as we strengthen the Environmental Education as well.
Urgently needs a shared vision of basic values to provide
an ethical foundation for the emerging world community.
Therefore, together in hope, we affirm the following
interdependent principles for a sustainable way of life as a
common standard by which the conduct of all individuals,
organizations, businesses, governments, and transnational
institutions is to be guided and assessed.
