1. Ancient Civilizations Reflection
My Civilization:Ancient Greece
The Research Journey:
My favorite part of the research journey was gathering information for my 5 big
questions. My best research question was “what was their architecture like?”
because I like the architecture in this civilization. While doing my research, I
found it difficult to find important information because some books only gave
non-important information. The most interesting thing I learned about the
structure of society was that men and women have different roles in society.I
think that democracy is an important legacy of ancient Greece because I think
voting is a great way for people to have leadership.
Report Writing:
I am proud of my report because I didn’t know I could type a report in less than a
week. While writing the report, I became better at understanding all the parts of
ancient Greek life.If I wrote it again, I would improve my report by adding more
details.
Archeology Presentation:
I enjoyed making my artifacts because this was my first time using clay.I found it
difficult to draw on the vase because painting the Olympic games in side is hard
and I needed to keep erasing.I am most proud of my mud brick artifact because I
made it look like a real mud brick.I enjoyed the archeology presentation because
a lot of visitors came to see me present.I found it difficult to memorize my
lines. While preparing for this presentation, I became better at speaking slowly
and making eye contact.
What else?
During this unit I especially enjoyed the teaching format the teachers used.I took
extra time to go to websites and know more about ancient civilizations. After this
unit, I might continue to study ancient civilizations.
