Digipak
Digipak is a patented style of optical disc packaging, and is a
registered trademark of AGI-Shorewood, an Atlas Holdings LLC
company.
It originates from optical disc packaging which is the packaging
that accompanies Cd’s, DVD’s other optical medias.

Digipak
Digipak is a variation of a Jewel CD Case that has been used
since the release of the first CD release in 1982.
A digipak refers to a cd case that is basically a plastic CD tray
glued inside a cardboard cover.
The term was patented for a specific packaging however now it
is used a general term to describe any cardboard based CD
package.
Digipaks are more environmentally friendly than jewel boxes
however are less used due to the high manufacturing cost and
low resistance to wear.

Features of a Digipak
A book style either paperback or card stock outer binding with 1
or more tray that are able to hold a CD or DVD.
A digipak traditional contains 1 Cd but can any amount
normally up to 4.

Common uses for Digipaks
Digipaks are commonly used when artists are
releasing a single or a limited edition of the CD.
Olly Murs released a deluxe edition of his album
Right Place Right Time as a deluxe edition in a
digipak. This Digipak contains 2 cd’s the normal
CD and then a CD containing with new music.
