Digipak
 Digipak is a patented style of optical disc packaging, and is a
registered trademark of AGI-Shorewood, an Atlas Holdings LLC
company.
 It originates from optical disc packaging which is the packaging
that accompanies Cd’s, DVD’s other optical medias.

Digipak
 Digipak is a variation of a Jewel CD Case that has been used
since the release of the first CD release in 1982.
 A digipak refers to a cd case that is basically a plastic CD tray
glued inside a cardboard cover.
 The term was patented for a specific packaging however now it
is used a general term to describe any cardboard based CD
package.
 Digipaks are more environmentally friendly than jewel boxes
however are less used due to the high manufacturing cost and
low resistance to wear.

Features of a Digipak
 A book style either paperback or card stock outer binding with 1
or more tray that are able to hold a CD or DVD.
 A digipak traditional contains 1 Cd but can any amount
normally up to 4.

Common uses for Digipaks
 Digipaks are commonly used when artists are
releasing a single or a limited edition of the CD.
 Olly Murs released a deluxe edition of his album
Right Place Right Time as a deluxe edition in a
digipak. This Digipak contains 2 cd’s the normal
CD and then a CD containing with new music.

History of the Internet
 In 1969 ARPA created a special computer.
 It was called The Interface Message Processor. It was activated
in early october.
 The first communications were between a research centre at
the University of California and a centre at the Stanford
research institute.

E-mail
 Emails are a programme developed by Ray Tomlinson in 1972
 In 1973 75% of internet traffic was E-mail.
 The @ sign was introduced due to the creation of E-mail

Domain Name
 The development of the domain name occurred in 1984.
 It was so people could easily identify computers on the internet.

1990
 Due to the popularity of the web the internet exploded aftere
1990.
 This forced the US government to turn over management of the
net to independent organisations at the start of 1995.
 This was the creation of the modern day world wide web
(www.). A term coined by Tim Berners-Lee in 1990 that saved
the interent.

Mosaic
 Mosaic as the first internet browser. It was released in 1993.
 Mosaic was very slow and didn’t load pictures well.

1995
 The first SSL was developed by Netscape making it safer to
pay online using a credit card.
 This saw the introduction of Ebay and Amazon
 Java and JavaScript were introduced to the public in 1995

1996
 Hotmail is introduced.
 The first webmail service

1998
 Google and Napster are launched
 Google revolutionised access to websites
 Napster opened up mainstream file-sharing of audio files over
the internet.

2001
 Wikipedia is launched. It paved the way for collectable data
content.

2003
 Skype and Myspace are launched.
 Skype introducing voice over IP calling
 MySpace becoming the most popular social site

2004
 Facebook is launched by Mark Zuckerberg
+
2005
 Youtube is launch bringing free online video hosting and
sharing
+
2006
 Twitter is launched.
+
2007
 Tumblr is lunched
+
2010
 Both Instagram and Pinintrest are launched
