Solar System
The sun is the base of al the life in the
world. The sun is a star that is the closest to us.
The sun has formed about 5 billions years ago.
The sun is fun place to rest ,but be careful the
sun is super hot. The temperature inside the sun
is 15,000,000 C. Lucky for you the temperature
outside the sun isn’t as hot as inside 5,500 C.
The sun is mostly made of hydrogen (72%) and
helium (26%). Another name for sun is sol. The
whole solar system is named for the sun. The
sun is so big. It is 99.8% of the solar system
which is in the milky way.
2. Terrestrial Planets
Terrestrial planets are planets that contain land. They are the first
and smallest planets in the solar system. On different planets there are
different kinds of soil. Venus has cracked land and Mars has red rust in its
land which makes the land look red.
mercury
The first planet that is orbiting the sun is mercury. It is fun on
mercury. The half that is facing the sun is always hot and the other is
always cold. Mercury has a lot of craters from being hit by small objects.
Venus
The second plant from the sun is venus, where it is really hot. It is
one of the hottest places in the solar system so you really got to see it! It
is so hot on venus that it can melt lead ,so don’t make your space ship
out of lead. There is no water on venus, but instead there are a lot of
volcanos and the land is dry, cracked, and there is carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere.
3. Earth
Earth is the third to the sun.
Earth is perfect place to live. There
is a lot of life on earth because the
temperature on earth is always mild.
Earth got nitrogen and oxygen, and
it got liquid water. This planet also
has one large satellite “Moon.” The
Moon rotates around the Earth. It
orbits Earth once a month. The
Earth is 150 million kilometers from
the sun.
4. Mars
Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. Mars is a good place to visit
too. Mars has to satellites, Phobos and Deimos. Mars is almost the
same as earth only mars has a drier land and is colder. Mars must
have had water 3.5 billion years.
Asteroids
Beyond the four terrestrial planets there is a place where there are a
lot of asteroids. This place is like an ending of terrestrial planets. You
really got to see this place. Some of the asteroids even have moons.
Scientists
believe that asteroids in the Asteroid Belt were much more bigger
millions of years ago. Over the millions of years most of the asteroids
5. Gas Giants
After the Asteroids there are gas giants. The Gas Giants are much
more colder and are made of Gas. You can easily fall out if you get
out of your space ship. Even thought they are all made of Gas Gas
Giants are very different so you will not get bored observing them
all.
Jupiter
Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun. Jupiter is the largest planet in
the solar system. Jupiter is 22 times the size of earth. Jupiter has
sixty-three moons. Strips and swirls on Jupiter’s surface are windy
clouds of ammonia water. The giant red spot on jupiter is a storm
that is going for hundreds of years. The storm is as wide as three
Earths. The pressure on Jupiter is strong enough to crush a space
ship.
Saturn
Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun. Saturn is the the
second biggest planet and is very cold. Winds on Saturn’s surface
reach speeds of 1,825 kilometers that is why the clouds on Saturn’s
surface are hard to see. There are at least 46 satellites orbiting
Saturn. The largest ring on saturn reaches out 200,000 kilometers
from Saturn’s surface. Saturn’s rings are made of chunks of rocks
and ice.
6. Uranus
Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun. Uranus
has 27 seven moons and 11 rings. The cloud on the top, on Uranus are cold and on
the bottom the clouds are hot. Uranus appears blue because of the methane gas in its
surface. The atmosphere is poisonous to humans.
Neptune
Neptune is the last planet from the sun. Neptune has 13 moons and four rings.
Wind on Neptune’s surface reach speeds of 2,000 kilometers. Scientists think that
there is a really hot water under Neptune’s clouds. The water doesn’t boil because of
Neptune’s great pressure.
Kuiper Belt
Kuiper belt is the place where other objects like stars and asteroids are. Most of
the objects in the Kuiper space are made of iron, rocks, and ice. Most of the objects in
Kuiper belt are very small. Kuiper belt itself is like the Asteroid belt, but it is much
more bigger then the asteroid belt. Pluto is the largest object in the Kuiper Belt. Some
scientists believe that pluto is a planet and some think it is not supposed to be a
planet because it is too small. It itself is almost as big as our moon. Even thought of
it’s size pluto still has a moon. (Pluto and its moon are on the picture on the left )
7. Comets
Comets are very cold. They are also called
dirty balls because they are made of rocks and ice.
The comets usually appear near earth every 100
years. Thats a lot. Hundreds of years ago people
thought that when were is a comet flying near earth
there is going to be something bad. Comets are
Made of really cold ice so when they go closer to
the sun the melt. Comets like other planets have an
orbit around the sun, but to become ice the comet
has to go far from the sun so its path is oval.
