The Issue
Today’s education leaders are under constant pressure to foster innovation and
transformation while ensuring that learning outcomes are being met. The demand to
keep up with new thinking and new approaches is relentless and immediate.
Research shows that education leaders are interested in learning from their peers
and eager to understand trends that will impact education, but they often lack time
and a forum for connecting with those who could share successes, lead by
example, and inspire them to advance innovations in teaching.
Human Networks
GETideas.org is a virtual meeting place where policy makers, administrators,
education researchers, and others from around the world share their knowledge
and successes. Members participate in “virtual roundtables” on topics often related
to the impact of technology on education. They can access case studies of real-life
transformative projects and video interviews about topics as far reaching as
assessment, game-based learning, policy, and social networking. Through affinity
groups, members can coalesce around topics of interest. Our GETinsight blog
authors share how-to strategies for using digital and social media to transform
schools and for fostering learning environments that engage students through
technology. More than 30 renowned education leaders offer their personal
perspectives and inspire discussions on the Featured Thought Leader opinion blog.
Technology Networks
Cisco relies on a variety of online and open source technological tools to connect
education stakeholders. Video and VoiceThread engagement, conversation via the
@GETideas Twitter channel, discussion forums, and news feeds give members
real-time access to news and thought leaders’ perspectives. New personalized user
preferences give members the ability to customize content based on their interests
and to create direct “colleague to colleague” connections with other community
members. Cisco’s up-to-the-minute technological capabilities ensure that
community members always have access to the most useful and advanced tools.
Impactx
GETideas.org illustrates how online technology and human experience can
converge to transform education. With more than 2500 education thought leaders
from around the world coming together to share experiences, give feedback, and
lead by example, GETideas.org is the world’s leading incubator for ideas that can
foster innovation in teaching and learning. Our use of collaborative technology,
combined with a content focus on the impact of technology on education,
familiarizes today’s educators with the online communications tools needed to
educate current and future generations.

Cisco Corporate Social Responsibility
We believe that businesses have a responsibility to operate in ways that respect and ultimately benefit people, communities,
and the planet we live on; we call this Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Our core CSR philosophy is that impact
multiplies whenever human and technology networks combine to solve a problem.
This is why we approach CSR the same way we approach business—by applying our technology, employee expertise, and
partnerships. We are focused on four primary goals: improving the well-being of people and communities around the world,
reducing our environmental impact and helping our customers do the same, conducting our business ethically, and creating
a workplace where our employees thrive.
