When I learned that my family and I would be going to Hawaii, I looked forward to going to the
beach, sightseeing, and the warm weather. I never knew that this vacation would end up teaching me
valuable life lessons. It was the summer of 2014 when I went to Hawaii, and I was so excited
because I love traveling and I had always wanted to go there. There is a six hour time difference
which was hard to get used to because we ended up landing in Hawaii at what would have been four
in the morning in Ohio. Before we landed in Hawaii, the vacation did not start off very well.
When we arrived at the airport in Los Angeles for our connecting flight, we were kept on the plane
for almost an hour, even though our layover was only forty–five minutes. We knew we did not have
much time anyways; but after the delay, we thought we would miss the only flight to Hawaii that
night. When we were finally able to get off the plane, a girl around the age of twenty–five who was
on the flight was yelling at everyone and trying to push everyone out of the way so she could get out
first. She ended up getting off the plane before us even though she was sitting in the very back.
Because of this, we could not find my brother when we got into the airport. However, the airport
security workers were telling us to just run to the gate. At the gate, we found my brother who was
already there talking to the flight attendant. They ended up having to delay the flight to let us on. I

As a child, around the age of five, I became friends with the children of a family that had just moved
to our neighborhood from Hawaii. The parents would occasionally make statements in a language
that the children could not speak. I realize now that they were making these statements in Hawaiian,
although they did not speak the language fluently, and their children did not speak the language at
all. Unfortunately, this loss of language from one generation to the next has been quite common in
Hawaii since the early nineteen–hundreds when the influence of the United States resulted in
institutionalized language death.
Hawaiian language, also known as Ōlelo Hawai'I, is a Marquesic language related to other Oceanic
languages of the Eastern Malayo–Polynesian group in the Austronesian language family. Hawaiian
is a language with no known dialects, however, some linguists note that there is a slight distinction
between Hawaiian spoken throughout the islands, and Hawaiian spoken at the university. The
language is named, "Hawaiian," after the group of islands where it was first developed and

discover the Hawaiian Islands. While commanding the Resolution and Discovery to explore the
Northwest Passage, Cook and his crew stumbled upon O'ahu and Kaua'i. Native Hawaiians did not
perceive these British sailors as a threat, and in fact "Greeted [Captain Cook] as a sacred high chief
or god" ("Captain Cook" para 1). However, they were not fully aware of the effects of his arrival.

Japan, Korea, Puerto Rico, Russia, Spain, the Philippines, and other countries (Hargrove, Sakota,
and Siegel 1). Since there were such a diverse group of people, they all spoke different languages.
Which made it hard for them to communicate. Thus, Hawai 'i creole english was soon developed
and became the primary source of communication among all the different ethnic groups (Thompson
1). During the plantations, the children born during that time period were starting to attend school.
That is when many of them first came into contact with standard english, since majority of them
already spoke hawaii pidgin (Scanlan 1). Ever since the plantations, more than half of Hawaiis

I have taken a trip to the beautiful island of Honolulu, Hawaii, "The Big Island" in the summer of
4th of July, 2016. Honolulu, Hawaii is the capital of Hawaii. I have used Delta Airline from
Laguardia Airport Manhattan, New York, then to Atlanta, Georgia And finally Hawaii. The duration
of my travel was approximately 10 hours in the air. The crew of Delta Airline was very professional
to their passengers and the flight attendants demonstrated great hospitality. The flight attendants
were very actively serving water, cookies, ice, meals, and other food to their passengers. They were
so nice about giving doubled snacks. They attend to my needs when I asked question and they truly
made my flight enjoyable. When the pilot announced the landing in Hawaii, I looked outside the
window and saw how beautiful the island landscape. It was breathtaking to see the mountains filled
with green trees and houses on the mountains. That was an amazing sight to see and experience.
Once I landing in Hawaii, my adventure began with the sun shining brightly, the warm island

Visit To Hawaii
There is always one place someone wants to go visit from hearing about it from a friend or seeing
pictures online. The place I want to visit over any place in the entire world is Hawaii because of all
the tropical foods, sunny beaches and so many activities to do. Such as, hiking to a waterfall and
jumping in or going on a tour around the island in a helicopter.
One reason I want to visit Hawaii is because the beaches look amazing, and the beaches have so
many things to do. If I went I would go to the beaches on the bay first, to practice surfing and play
games on the beach. I would play wiffle ball, ultimate Frisbee and pass a football around, or
lacrosse ball. Wiffle ball is a lot of fun because I hit the ball to the ground a lot, so I dive to get the
base. Ultimate frisbee is hard to play on the beach because of the wind, so I dive to catch almost
every throw. After a couple of days I'd switch to the ocean side of Hawaii to go body boarding,
boogie boarding, and surfing. Boogie boarding is more fun with bigger waves because I get to ride
the wave for a longer time. Bodyboarding is tough for me to catch a wave, but is amazing once I
finally catch one. Surfing is a little tricky to stand up and is much easier for me to stay up once I get

Coconuts are delicious and can be great to eat on the beach because they're drinkable and edible .
The coconut is great as a cup or use it as a decoration in my hotel or house. Pineapples are grown in
Hawaii naturally so they are fresh and would taste amazing. Also, I could put them on a kabob and
