My Hawaii Vacation
When I learned that my family and I would be going to Hawaii, I looked forward to going to the
beach, sightseeing, and the warm weather. I never knew that this vacation would end up teaching me
valuable life lessons. It was the summer of 2014 when I went to Hawaii, and I was so excited
because I love traveling and I had always wanted to go there. There is a six hour time difference
which was hard to get used to because we ended up landing in Hawaii at what would have been four
in the morning in Ohio. Before we landed in Hawaii, the vacation did not start off very well.
When we arrived at the airport in Los Angeles for our connecting flight, we were kept on the plane
for almost an hour, even though our layover was only forty–five minutes. We knew we did not have
much time anyways; but after the delay, we thought we would miss the only flight to Hawaii that
night. When we were finally able to get off the plane, a girl around the age of twenty–five who was
on the flight was yelling at everyone and trying to push everyone out of the way so she could get out
first. She ended up getting off the plane before us even though she was sitting in the very back.
Because of this, we could not find my brother when we got into the airport. However, the airport
security workers were telling us to just run to the gate. At the gate, we found my brother who was
already there talking to the flight attendant. They ended up having to delay the flight to let us on. I
was surprised

Hawaii Language Essay
As a child, around the age of five, I became friends with the children of a family that had just moved
to our neighborhood from Hawaii. The parents would occasionally make statements in a language
that the children could not speak. I realize now that they were making these statements in Hawaiian,
although they did not speak the language fluently, and their children did not speak the language at
all. Unfortunately, this loss of language from one generation to the next has been quite common in
Hawaii since the early nineteen–hundreds when the influence of the United States resulted in
institutionalized language death.
Hawaiian language, also known as Ōlelo Hawai'I, is a Marquesic language related to other Oceanic
languages of the Eastern Malayo–Polynesian group in the Austronesian language family. Hawaiian
is a language with no known dialects, however, some linguists note that there is a slight distinction
between Hawaiian spoken throughout the islands, and Hawaiian spoken at the university. The
language is named, "Hawaiian," after the group of islands where it was first developed and
recognized; Hawaii is a volcanic archipelago located in the Central Pacific, hence the language
relation to other Oceanic languages (UCLA, Language Materials Project). Previous to the influence
of the United States, there were a reported 400,000 to 800,000 Native Hawaiian speakers living in
Hawaii. Hawaiian developed as a solely oral language, with a rich tradition of storytelling and
music.

Outside Influence On The Hawaii
Outside Influences Negatively Impact Hawaii Widely known as "paradise", Hawaii is a desired
place to live and vacation. Families, couples, and individuals come to take part in the temperate
weather and beautiful beaches. However, Hawaii now is nothing like it use to be – the real history
behind this popular chain of islands is rarely told to visitors. Back in early Hawaiian times, Hawaii
was self–sufficient, independent, and gorgeous all around. The number of Native Hawaiians
flourished, and everyone helped contribute to the community. All that changed, however, when
outsiders began to settle here in Hawaii. Although the different outside influences may have brought
some positivity to Hawaii, the negative side of their arrival overwhelmingly defeats it.
Upon his expedition on January 18, 1778, English explorer Captain Cook was the first European to
discover the Hawaiian Islands. While commanding the Resolution and Discovery to explore the
Northwest Passage, Cook and his crew stumbled upon O'ahu and Kaua'i. Native Hawaiians did not
perceive these British sailors as a threat, and in fact "Greeted [Captain Cook] as a sacred high chief
or god" ("Captain Cook" para 1). However, they were not fully aware of the effects of his arrival.
According to Peter Pirie, a Professor of Geography at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, "...the two
Cook visits refer to the problem of venereal diseases among the crews... [to] their transmission from
the newcomers to the Hawaiian population" (75).

Hawaii Creole English By Hawaii Pidgin
Hawaii creole english, or in other words "pidgin," is based on the english language, but also
containing words from many other languages. Some of those languages include Hawaiian, Japanese,
Portuguese, and more. Hawaii pidgin english is widely used in everyday conversations, television
shows, and advertisements. Hawaii creole english was created many years ago, but is used by a
large number of people on the Hawaiian islands, as well as on the mainland. Hawai'i creole english
was first established around the 1800's, when Hawaii started recruiting laborers from all over the
globe to work on the sugar plantations. The laborers consisted of people from China, Portugal,
Japan, Korea, Puerto Rico, Russia, Spain, the Philippines, and other countries (Hargrove, Sakota,
and Siegel 1). Since there were such a diverse group of people, they all spoke different languages.
Which made it hard for them to communicate. Thus, Hawai 'i creole english was soon developed
and became the primary source of communication among all the different ethnic groups (Thompson
1). During the plantations, the children born during that time period were starting to attend school.
That is when many of them first came into contact with standard english, since majority of them
already spoke hawaii pidgin (Scanlan 1). Ever since the plantations, more than half of Hawaiis
population today speak pidgin. Majority of the Hawaii pidgin comes from the english language, but
are also contained from other languages.

Hawaii
Hawaii is a state that attracts tourists because of its history, geography, entertainment, and culture. It
is well known for its volcanoes, beaches, and climate. For these reasons, tourism is the main thing
Hawaii is known for. Hawaii was recordivly discovered on January 18, 1778, by 2 explorers, James
Cook and Captain Clerke. They went to the shore of Kealakekua Bay, where they were greeted by
cheering natives. Later, a native stole one of their boats, so Cook and some marines were going to
take the king hostage. The king didn't object to this, but the natives did. There was a brief battle, but
by the end of it, Cook was dead, (The Antarctic

About 2,500 Americans and about 60 Japanese, (although it is tough to figure out how many
Japanese), people died at this site. After rebuilding from the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii took a
turn for the better. In 1959, Hawaii became part of the United States of America. This did wonders
for the economy, (as far as plantation farming for sugar and pineapples). It also saw more people
coming in as a fact of tourism. In 1959, two hundred forty three thousand people visited Hawaii,
(Borreca A10). No one would've ever expected the now five million people a year tourist industry.
People go there to see historical site such as Pearl Harbor. There are six main islands in Hawaii
anyone can visit. They are Kauai, Oahu,
Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and the Big Island of Hawaii, (they are listed from west to east).
The capital, Honolulu, is located on Oahu. The most populated island is Hawaii, the main island, but
the most populated city is Honolulu. All of the islands have a vast amount of topography, but mostly
the same climate. The temperature there is mostly between 70 and 90 degrees all year round,
fluctuating between levels of land, weather being sea levels or beings the volcano levels. Hawaii has
valleys, oceans, mountains, plains, craters, and just about everything you can think of. The
temperature is one of the main tourist attractions, as well as the sandy beaches and volcanoes. When

Hawaii Marine Life
Hawaii is surrounded by crystal clear and refreshing water. There are many types of marine life that
are swimming around in the beautiful waters of Hawaii, such as green sea turtles, humpback whales,
and manta rays. Marine–related tourism is a mainstay of Hawaii's economy and is consistently cited
as having the best diving destinations and top beaches in the world. Hawaii's marine realm is
outstandingly rich and highly unique. Twenty–five percent of coral reef fish alone do not exist
anywhere else on earth. When corals, algae, reef fish and other species are included, up to 62% of
Hawaii's marine species are found solely in Hawaii.

Humpback whales can grow to be up to 60 feet in length, and they can weigh as much as 40 tons.
Most of the time for humpback whales, the female is longer and heavier that the males
(Badertscher). Humpback whales roam all over the world, they will be found in different places
depending on what time of the year. Humpbacks typically travel alone or in small groups, called
pods, consisting of two or three whales. When whales are together, they communicate with each
other and travel together, and moms and their young even touch fins as a possible sign of
endearment. The whales back are largely flat with a small dorsal fin located down the far side of its
back, however when they are swimming the humpback may arch its back and flukes causing its
back to look like a large hump. Sometimes they even help each other hunt. This large Hawaiian
marine mammal is part of the baleen whale family and is known to eat a few different small preys
such as squid, red fish, tuna, pollock, haddock, mackerel, capelin, salmon and many other types of
small fish. The humpback whales large diet makes these whales one of the most diverse eaters
within the baleen whale family. While the adult humpback whale is known for its unique diet the
baby humpback whales start their journey by consuming milk, which they suck from their mother's
nipples until they reach a point where they can hunt for food and survive on their own. Humpback

Hawaii Is The Capital Of Hawaii
I have taken a trip to the beautiful island of Honolulu, Hawaii, "The Big Island" in the summer of
4th of July, 2016. Honolulu, Hawaii is the capital of Hawaii. I have used Delta Airline from
Laguardia Airport Manhattan, New York, then to Atlanta, Georgia And finally Hawaii. The duration
of my travel was approximately 10 hours in the air. The crew of Delta Airline was very professional
to their passengers and the flight attendants demonstrated great hospitality. The flight attendants
were very actively serving water, cookies, ice, meals, and other food to their passengers. They were
so nice about giving doubled snacks. They attend to my needs when I asked question and they truly
made my flight enjoyable. When the pilot announced the landing in Hawaii, I looked outside the
window and saw how beautiful the island landscape. It was breathtaking to see the mountains filled
with green trees and houses on the mountains. That was an amazing sight to see and experience.
Once I landing in Hawaii, my adventure began with the sun shining brightly, the warm island
breeze, and of course the warm hospitality of the people Hawaiian people. My description of Hawaii
is how beautiful the locales people are friendly. The native good mornings greeting is called
Mahalo. Mahalo means interest in the island and comeback soon. It had taken me awhile to get use
to the language of Hawaii but for the most part most hawaiian speak english especially to the tourist.

Hawaii And Tourism : Hawaii
Hawaii and Tourism
Hawaii is located in the central Pacific Ocean; it is one of the many islands in Polynesia. It is
composed of eight main islands: Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, Maui and the
Island of Hawaii, the island of Hawaii being the largest island of the eight (see attached map).
According to the census bureau, as of 2014, Hawaii 's population is approximately 1,419,561 with
Native Hawaiians forming only 10% of the population; in order to be considered a Native Hawaiian
you must have one native great–grandparent (2014 United States Census Bureau). Hawaii's official
languages are English and Hawaiian. Hawaii was first occupied by people coming from the
Marquesas Islands approximately 1500 years ago followed by people from Tahiti. In 1778 Captain
Cook arrived in Hawaii finding approximately 300,00 Hawaiians there. In the 1850's Hawaiians
worked in sugar cane plantations. In 1983 Queen Liliuokalani was deposed and in 1900 Hawaii
became a United States Territory. Fifty–nine years later, in 1959, Hawaii became the 50th state of
the United States. Tourism plays a huge role in Hawaii's culture; it is a big part of its economy and
social life. This paper will be discussing Hawaii's tourism and it's effects.

Map of Hawaii
Hawaii is the southernmost state of the United States, and the westernmost after Alaska. It is also,
along with Alaska, the only one that is outside of the United States and lacks a border with any other
American state. Hawaii is the only American state that is distinct from the mainland, is completely
surrounded by water, continues to grow surface due to lava flows mainly from Kilauea and is
entirely in the tropics.
Apart from Easter Island, Hawaii is further away from land than any other landmass on Earth.
Hawaii's highest mountain, Mauna Kea is 4205 m above sea level. but is higher than Mount Everest
if measured from the bottom of the Pacific.
Geology
All of Hawaii's islands have been created by volcanoes that reside from the seabed, according to the
theory of hot spots. The theory argues that the Pacific tectonic plate moves towards the northwest
while the hot spot stays still, which slowly creates new volcanoes. The latest volcanic eruption
outside the main island of Hawaii occurred at Haleakala in Maui in the late 18th

On the 21st of August 1959, a small colony of inhabited Polynesian volcanic rock located in the
middle of the Pacific Ocean became the 50th state named "Hawai'i". Before Hawai'i became the
50th State, foreigners from the United States attempted to annex Hawai'i from its people and the
Hawaiian Monarch for political and military gains. It all started as far back as 1893 when Hawai'i
was ruled by Hawaiian Kings and Queens. All three attempts at annexation the United States

The third attempt at having The Kingdom of Hawai'i annexed was a false claim by the United States
declaring Hawai'i territory of the United States because it was a Neutral State. The United States
Congress and President McKinley signed into law a Joint Resolution, which they claimed Hawai'i
annexed by the United States of America and was now U.S. territory; this claim was a violation of
war between the Hawaiian Kingdom and the United States. The United States claimed due to
concern Hawai'i might become part of the European Nation's Empire they needed resolution
claiming Hawaii's Annexation. But Hawai'i disputed the claim stating Hawai'i could not be annexed
thru a Joint Resolution and that a Joint Resolution is not a treaty; it is a congressional act on behalf
of the United States. The congressional act can only affect U.S. territory and Hawai'i was not a U.S.
territory or state to be claimed
Three attempts were made and none were successful, furthermore while the Republic of Hawai'i
was making every attempt to annex Hawai'i they were caught in the deception, each attempt was
being covered up by other political groups from the United States Government that was in favor of
the annexation. Since the statehood of Hawai'i was declared in 1959, many native Hawaiians
continue to protest the annexation of Hawai'i and rebut that Hawai'i was ever acquired legally by the

Hawaii Volcanoes Essay
There are many different types of volcanoes in the United States. Composite, Ciner and Shield are
the three types of volcanoes. Over the history of Hawaii, covering about 85 million years, there have
been 129 volcanoes formed due to the hot spot and of that 129, 123 of them are extinct or
seamounts. In Hawaii today, there are currently five active volcanoes, Lo'ihi, Kilauea, Mauna Loa,
Hualalai and Haleakala. Lo'ihi is the only underwater volcano in Hawaii; the other four volcanoes
are above sea level. Kilauea is a hyperactive shield type volcano. Volcanoes are mainly found where
tectonic plates are diverging or converging. The Mid Ocean Ridge is an example of divergent
tectonic plates pulling apart, where the Ring of Fire is an example of convergent tectonic plates

America is often called the melting pot of cultures, welcoming various cultures and traditions, but
the real gem that holds this title is located in the Pacific ocean. This place is called Hawaii and it is a

through this land to the many laughs and the smell of many mouthwatering foods that is carried

life has such a greater purpose than oneself and one's own success. Yes to aspire to be successful in

From my perspective success is abe to be measured in anything you may find important in your life.
The type of successful life I want to lead is to be able to change others lives for the better. To give

Hawaii really only has two seasons summer from May to October and winter from November to
April. Hawaiians named the warmer seasons ¨Kau¨ when the sun is almost directly overhead and the
weather is warmer and drier while the wind is blowing mostly from the northeast. They also named
the cooler seasons ¨Ho´olio¨ when the sun is lower in the South, and the winds are more noticeable,

Summary Of The Conquest Of Hawaii
After reading the article, "The Conquest of Hawaii," my understanding of how Hawaii became a
part of the United States has changed drastically. Originally, I had thought that Hawaii was
conquered by the Europeans with reckless violence and torture towards the Hawaiians like how the
Europeans conquered the Native American's land. I also had thought that the modern Hawaiian
attitudes towards becoming U.S. citizens were narrow minded and hard headed because it was their
land that the Europeans were taking away. After reading the article, I learned that Hawaii wasn't
automatically conquered, but violence did occur and the Hawaiian's attitude towards annexation was
supportive. According to the article, the conquest of the Hawaii started when a group ... Show more

As a result, thousands of commoners arrived Hawaii to cut and haul sandalwood to the beaches.
Food production suffered and starvation left many Natives in violent deaths. By 1843, whalers
arrived Hawaii about the same time as the missioners did and by that time whaling became common
in Hawaii. While Hawaiian merchants and chiefs got richer from the whaling industry, most Native
Hawaiians suffered greatly. Hawaiians were excellent merchants, and young men were hired as
sailors. Large numbers of native sailors on their journey did not return. Prostitution flourished, and
native women were left barren by the very diseases spread by others. In 1778, when Cook arrived
the Islands, the native population decreased to 200,000 and 300,000. In the 1830s, the sugar industry

Hawaii Persuasive Essay
Over several generations, the people living in Hawaii have negatively altered our islands, which has
resulted in an unsustainable environment. Most people living in Hawaii are not practicing
sustainability. The things they have are taken for granted, and they usually don't think twice before
acting in ways that will harm the environment, such as littering, wasting food, and hiking off trails.
They do not understand that they are disrespecting the ecosystem with such actions. All of these
factors determine whether or not Hawaii is a sustainable island. "The world's most isolated chain of
islands, Hawaii imports nearly 90 percent of its food at a cost of more than $3 billion a year."– Food
Independence Could Be a Matter of Survival for the U.S.' Most Isolated State. We only produce

These religious radicals started a domino affect of the Hawaiian religion. The Hawaiians destroyed
and burned their feared idols. The people who still held on the old belifes were murdered. This goes
to show how a religion can either hold a society together or tear it apart. Henry Obookiah was born
in Hawaii. His family was murdered in a war between neighboring islands. He decided to find a new
life in America, so he hopped aboard a trading ship and landed in New England. Obookiah stayed
with a Christian family and went to a foreign mission school. Obookiah was taught to be a good

New England Christians were motivated to spread the faith into Hawaii. The first American settlers

Yellowtone And Hawaii Similarities
Yellowstone and Hawaii Comparison Hawaii and Yellowstone both attract millions of people per
year. Tourists go to Hawaii for sunshine and beaches, and to Yellowstone to experience the hot
springs and wonders of nature. Hawaii and Yellowstone may have differences, but what many
people don't know is that they are alike in numerous ways. Both Hawaii and Yellowstone were
created by hotspot. A difference is that the Islands of Hawaii were created over thousands of years
because of a plate that is moving over a hotspot, and every once and awhile magma from the hotspot
pushes up and creates a volcano. In contrast, Yellowstone was formed when a hotspot moved under
it and over millions of years has caused eruptions which have shaped present day Yellowstone. ...

A similarity is that both Yellowstone and Hawaii are located in the middle of a plate, but Hawaii is
located on the Pacific plate where as Yellowstone is located on the North American plate. Another
reason they are different is that they have different crusts. Hawaii has an oceanic crust which is
thinner than continental crust, which is what Yellowstone has. A further example of how they are
similar is that they are both located above a hotspot. A hotspot is an area of volcanic activity. Hawaii
and Yellowstone are both major vacation destinations; they may seem completely different, but they
are actually quite similar. A difference between them is that people go to Hawaii to see the
volcanoes and go to Yellowstone to see Old Faithful and hot springs. Although many people may
think this is a difference, it is actually a similarity because all of these things are volcanic activity
caused by hotspots. Hotspots lie underneath both Yellowstone and Hawaii, but they cause different
geological activity in both places. An example of how they are different is that Hawaii has the most
active volcanoes on earth whereas Yellowstone's volcano is dormant. On the other hand, they are
both similar because they both produce geysers and hot

Summary: The Annexation Of Hawaii
Hawaii is known for is crystal clear water, its tropical climate, and its Breathtaking scenery.
Hawaii after annexation and statehood. An action widely regarded by the native hawaiians as
unconstitutional and illegal because they had no say. The United states helped bring about a coup
that brought Hawaii into a position that left them powerless. The reason the US wanted to take
control of Hawaii is because of its relation relative to the world. It's most valuable resource was it's
location. It is in the middle of the Pacific ocean between Asia and the United States. During the
Spanish American war the United States used pearl harbor as a military base. This prompted
congress to formally annex Hawaii in 1898. These events prompted the fifty year process of
becoming a state.
The process of statehood started when the United States declared war on spain for the sinking of a
submarine that turned out to sink because of a defective boiler. The US declared war on spain.
Hawaii would proceed to be annexed. To annex a country means to bring it into your own country in
the purpose of self interest. Hawaii was annexed because of it's position in the pacific ocean and
how it would prove useful to the US. It was the best place to put a military base to defend against
Guam and the Philippines. Having Pearl Harbor bombed in the second world war ... Show more

Visit To Hawaii
There is always one place someone wants to go visit from hearing about it from a friend or seeing

the tropical foods, sunny beaches and so many activities to do. Such as, hiking to a waterfall and
jumping in or going on a tour around the island in a helicopter.
One reason I want to visit Hawaii is because the beaches look amazing, and the beaches have so
many things to do. If I went I would go to the beaches on the bay first, to practice surfing and play
games on the beach. I would play wiffle ball, ultimate Frisbee and pass a football around, or
lacrosse ball. Wiffle ball is a lot of fun because I hit the ball to the ground a lot, so I dive to get the
base. Ultimate frisbee is hard to play on the beach because of the wind, so I dive to catch almost
every throw. After a couple of days I'd switch to the ocean side of Hawaii to go body boarding,
boogie boarding, and surfing. Boogie boarding is more fun with bigger waves because I get to ride
the wave for a longer time. Bodyboarding is tough for me to catch a wave, but is amazing once I
finally catch one. Surfing is a little tricky to stand up and is much easier for me to stay up once I get
the hang of it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Hawaii Vacation

  • 1. My Hawaii Vacation When I learned that my family and I would be going to Hawaii, I looked forward to going to the beach, sightseeing, and the warm weather. I never knew that this vacation would end up teaching me valuable life lessons. It was the summer of 2014 when I went to Hawaii, and I was so excited because I love traveling and I had always wanted to go there. There is a six hour time difference which was hard to get used to because we ended up landing in Hawaii at what would have been four in the morning in Ohio. Before we landed in Hawaii, the vacation did not start off very well. When we arrived at the airport in Los Angeles for our connecting flight, we were kept on the plane for almost an hour, even though our layover was only forty–five minutes. We knew we did not have much time anyways; but after the delay, we thought we would miss the only flight to Hawaii that night. When we were finally able to get off the plane, a girl around the age of twenty–five who was on the flight was yelling at everyone and trying to push everyone out of the way so she could get out first. She ended up getting off the plane before us even though she was sitting in the very back. Because of this, we could not find my brother when we got into the airport. However, the airport security workers were telling us to just run to the gate. At the gate, we found my brother who was already there talking to the flight attendant. They ended up having to delay the flight to let us on. I was surprised ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Hawaii Language Essay As a child, around the age of five, I became friends with the children of a family that had just moved to our neighborhood from Hawaii. The parents would occasionally make statements in a language that the children could not speak. I realize now that they were making these statements in Hawaiian, although they did not speak the language fluently, and their children did not speak the language at all. Unfortunately, this loss of language from one generation to the next has been quite common in Hawaii since the early nineteen–hundreds when the influence of the United States resulted in institutionalized language death. Hawaiian language, also known as Ōlelo Hawai'I, is a Marquesic language related to other Oceanic languages of the Eastern Malayo–Polynesian group in the Austronesian language family. Hawaiian is a language with no known dialects, however, some linguists note that there is a slight distinction between Hawaiian spoken throughout the islands, and Hawaiian spoken at the university. The language is named, "Hawaiian," after the group of islands where it was first developed and recognized; Hawaii is a volcanic archipelago located in the Central Pacific, hence the language relation to other Oceanic languages (UCLA, Language Materials Project). Previous to the influence of the United States, there were a reported 400,000 to 800,000 Native Hawaiian speakers living in Hawaii. Hawaiian developed as a solely oral language, with a rich tradition of storytelling and music. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Outside Influence On The Hawaii Outside Influences Negatively Impact Hawaii Widely known as "paradise", Hawaii is a desired place to live and vacation. Families, couples, and individuals come to take part in the temperate weather and beautiful beaches. However, Hawaii now is nothing like it use to be – the real history behind this popular chain of islands is rarely told to visitors. Back in early Hawaiian times, Hawaii was self–sufficient, independent, and gorgeous all around. The number of Native Hawaiians flourished, and everyone helped contribute to the community. All that changed, however, when outsiders began to settle here in Hawaii. Although the different outside influences may have brought some positivity to Hawaii, the negative side of their arrival overwhelmingly defeats it. Upon his expedition on January 18, 1778, English explorer Captain Cook was the first European to discover the Hawaiian Islands. While commanding the Resolution and Discovery to explore the Northwest Passage, Cook and his crew stumbled upon O'ahu and Kaua'i. Native Hawaiians did not perceive these British sailors as a threat, and in fact "Greeted [Captain Cook] as a sacred high chief or god" ("Captain Cook" para 1). However, they were not fully aware of the effects of his arrival. According to Peter Pirie, a Professor of Geography at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, "...the two Cook visits refer to the problem of venereal diseases among the crews... [to] their transmission from the newcomers to the Hawaiian population" (75). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Hawaii Creole English By Hawaii Pidgin Hawaii creole english, or in other words "pidgin," is based on the english language, but also containing words from many other languages. Some of those languages include Hawaiian, Japanese, Portuguese, and more. Hawaii pidgin english is widely used in everyday conversations, television shows, and advertisements. Hawaii creole english was created many years ago, but is used by a large number of people on the Hawaiian islands, as well as on the mainland. Hawai'i creole english was first established around the 1800's, when Hawaii started recruiting laborers from all over the globe to work on the sugar plantations. The laborers consisted of people from China, Portugal, Japan, Korea, Puerto Rico, Russia, Spain, the Philippines, and other countries (Hargrove, Sakota, and Siegel 1). Since there were such a diverse group of people, they all spoke different languages. Which made it hard for them to communicate. Thus, Hawai 'i creole english was soon developed and became the primary source of communication among all the different ethnic groups (Thompson 1). During the plantations, the children born during that time period were starting to attend school. That is when many of them first came into contact with standard english, since majority of them already spoke hawaii pidgin (Scanlan 1). Ever since the plantations, more than half of Hawaiis population today speak pidgin. Majority of the Hawaii pidgin comes from the english language, but are also contained from other languages. ... • 7. Essay on Hawaii Hawaii Hawaii is a state that attracts tourists because of its history, geography, entertainment, and culture. It is well known for its volcanoes, beaches, and climate. For these reasons, tourism is the main thing Hawaii is known for. Hawaii was recordivly discovered on January 18, 1778, by 2 explorers, James Cook and Captain Clerke. They went to the shore of Kealakekua Bay, where they were greeted by cheering natives. Later, a native stole one of their boats, so Cook and some marines were going to take the king hostage. The king didn't object to this, but the natives did. There was a brief battle, but by the end of it, Cook was dead, (The Antarctic *http://www.south–pole.com/p0000071.htm*). After rebuilding from the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii took a turn for the better. In 1959, Hawaii became part of the United States of America. This did wonders for the economy, (as far as plantation farming for sugar and pineapples). It also saw more people coming in as a fact of tourism. In 1959, two hundred forty three thousand people visited Hawaii, (Borreca A10). No one would've ever expected the now five million people a year tourist industry. People go there to see historical site such as Pearl Harbor. There are six main islands in Hawaii anyone can visit. They are Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and the Big Island of Hawaii, (they are listed from west to east). The capital, Honolulu, is located on Oahu. The most populated island is Hawaii, the main island, but the most populated city is Honolulu. All of the islands have a vast amount of topography, but mostly the same climate. The temperature there is mostly between 70 and 90 degrees all year round, fluctuating between levels of land, weather being sea levels or beings the volcano levels. I have used Delta Airline from Laguardia Airport Manhattan, New York, then to Atlanta, Georgia And finally Hawaii. The duration of my travel was approximately 10 hours in the air. The crew of Delta Airline was very professional to their passengers and the flight attendants demonstrated great hospitality. The flight attendants were very actively serving water, cookies, ice, meals, and other food to their passengers. They were so nice about giving doubled snacks. They attend to my needs when I asked question and they truly made my flight enjoyable. When the pilot announced the landing in Hawaii, I looked outside the window and saw how beautiful the island landscape. It was breathtaking to see the mountains filled with green trees and houses on the mountains. That was an amazing sight to see and experience. Once I landing in Hawaii, my adventure began with the sun shining brightly, the warm island breeze, and of course the warm hospitality of the people Hawaiian people. The congressional act can only affect U.S. territory and Hawai'i was not a U.S. territory or state to be claimed Three attempts were made and none were successful, furthermore while the Republic of Hawai'i was making every attempt to annex Hawai'i they were caught in the deception, each attempt was being covered up by other political groups from the United States Government that was in favor of the annexation. Tourists go to Hawaii for sunshine and beaches, and to Yellowstone to experience the hot springs and wonders of nature. Hawaii and Yellowstone may have differences, but what many people don't know is that they are alike in numerous ways. Both Hawaii and Yellowstone were created by hotspot. A difference is that the Islands of Hawaii were created over thousands of years because of a plate that is moving over a hotspot, and every once and awhile magma from the hotspot pushes up and creates a volcano. In contrast, Yellowstone was formed when a hotspot moved under it and over millions of years has caused eruptions which have shaped present day Yellowstone. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A similarity is that both Yellowstone and Hawaii are located in the middle of a plate, but Hawaii is located on the Pacific plate where as Yellowstone is located on the North American plate. Another reason they are different is that they have different crusts. Hawaii has an oceanic crust which is thinner than continental crust, which is what Yellowstone has. A further example of how they are similar is that they are both located above a hotspot. A hotspot is an area of volcanic activity. Hawaii and Yellowstone are both major vacation destinations; they may seem completely different, but they are actually quite similar. A difference between them is that people go to Hawaii to see the volcanoes and go to Yellowstone to see Old Faithful and hot springs. Although many people may think this is a difference, it is actually a similarity because all of these things are volcanic activity caused by hotspots. Hotspots lie underneath both Yellowstone and Hawaii, but they cause different geological activity in both places. An example of how they are different is that Hawaii has the most active volcanoes on earth whereas Yellowstone's volcano is dormant. • 37. Summary: The Annexation Of Hawaii Hawaii is known for is crystal clear water, its tropical climate, and its Breathtaking scenery. Hawaii after annexation and statehood. An action widely regarded by the native hawaiians as unconstitutional and illegal because they had no say. The United states helped bring about a coup that brought Hawaii into a position that left them powerless. The reason the US wanted to take control of Hawaii is because of its relation relative to the world. It's most valuable resource was it's location. It is in the middle of the Pacific ocean between Asia and the United States. During the Spanish American war the United States used pearl harbor as a military base. This prompted congress to formally annex Hawaii in 1898. These events prompted the fifty year process of becoming a state. The process of statehood started when the United States declared war on spain for the sinking of a submarine that turned out to sink because of a defective boiler. The US declared war on spain. Hawaii would proceed to be annexed. To annex a country means to bring it into your own country in the purpose of self interest. • 38. Visit To Hawaii There is always one place someone wants to go visit from hearing about it from a friend or seeing pictures online. The place I want to visit over any place in the entire world is Hawaii because of all the tropical foods, sunny beaches and so many activities to do. Such as, hiking to a waterfall and jumping in or going on a tour around the island in a helicopter. One reason I want to visit Hawaii is because the beaches look amazing, and the beaches have so many things to do. If I went I would go to the beaches on the bay first, to practice surfing and play games on the beach. I would play wiffle ball, ultimate Frisbee and pass a football around, or lacrosse ball. Wiffle ball is a lot of fun because I hit the ball to the ground a lot, so I dive to get the base. Ultimate frisbee is hard to play on the beach because of the wind, so I dive to catch almost every throw. After a couple of days I'd switch to the ocean side of Hawaii to go body boarding, boogie boarding, and surfing. Boogie boarding is more fun with bigger waves because I get to ride the wave for a longer time. Bodyboarding is tough for me to catch a wave, but is amazing once I finally catch one. Surfing is a little tricky to stand up and is much easier for me to stay up once I get the hang of it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over time, Americans became very trusted advisors for the rulers. Eventually, in 1840, America would help Hawaii write their first Constitution. This helps them become even closer with the Native Hawaiians. 10 years later, the sugar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Later on, in 1891, King David Kalakaua dies, and his sister, Liliuokalani becomes Queen. However, she only stayed queen for 2 years. The Americans didn't like that she tried to limit their power, so there were American marines sent in to protect the Americans. Queen Liliuokalani gave up her throne, when faced with guns, to avoid any more bloodshed. So, Queen Liliuokalani only got 2 years to serve as Queen.
