The music video will follow a group of four teenage friends enjoying their free time at various locations associated with youth like the beach and arcade. It will be edited in a fragmented, montage style and portray the characters in a positive light without a central protagonist. Bright colors will be used early on with darker tones later to create narrative enigma and convey that youth should be treasured and lived in the moment rather than wasted. The video will be filmed in a candid, handheld style, including parts on mobile phones, to capture the freedom and fun of the characters' journey.

1. Ideas generation
Our music video will follow a group of teenage characters enjoying their free time and
enjoying life whilst they can. The narrative will be edited in a fragmented style using mostly
quick and montage edits. We have carefully thought about the exposition and plot of the
music video and hope to successfully portray a positive representation of the youth of
today.
The characters within our music video will only feature a group of four friends. We haven't
decided to apply Propps theory of characters as we feel all the characters should be
portrayed equally. Therefor we decided against a central protagonist, hero or villain within
our video. As we want to portray an accurate representation of teenage characters we
decided as a group they should be shown in a positive way.
Throughout the mise en scene bright colours will be used at the start of the video, becoming
darker towards the end. This is done to create a narrative enigma. The deeper meaning
within the video will be that youth should be treasured, living life in the moment and not
wasting time. We got this idea from a quote we found online, from The Temper Trap who’s
music we decided to use. The song we chose was sweet disposition. During an interview
with The Temper Trap the artist was asked to explain the meaning.
‘’Whenwe are young, we act first and think later. But as adults we rationalize
everything. Basically the song is about capturing the innocence of youth.’’
This is going to be shown through the use of location. The locations we have decided to use
are places commonly associated with youth. Examples of these are; the beach, bowling
alley, outdoors and the arcade. I feel these locations will be able to express the freedom of
youth, using spacious places to represent the freedom the characters have, showing they
have no restriction.
The music video will be filmed in a candid style, following the characters on their journey.
We are also going to film some parts on mobile phones as if the characters are filming
themselves. This will show clear facial expressions and add to the more fun side of the
video. Most of the video is going to be shot in a hand held style to give a more relaxed and
less serious atmosphere.
All clips that are shot outside will be naturally lighted, mostly high key. Towards the end we
have decided to use darker and lower key lighted clips. By using binary opposites of light
versus dark we are able to show the time running out. Representing the idea of respecting
time and being spontaneous.
