2. It was evening. After Mip and Mop
made many acquaintances in the
Market Square, they wandered to
the outskirts of town and into a small
copse by the town walls.
They were melancholy that they
could not contact their old friends.
3. ???
There was lots of
graffiti on the walls,
and all manner of
people making it.
But nobody seemed
to mind. Indeed,
someone yelled to
them, ‘that’s what
the walls are for!’,
and threw them
some spray cans.
4. Mop had a go at making his own tag. Then he drew an ocelot on a surfboard.
That’s great
I wish Acker and Silk could see it
Mip gesticulated at a sign that
said ‘contacts’. They pressed it.
Nothing happened so they picked
up the spray can and went back
to work.
Maybe we can invite them in?
5. Night fell. People began to go home for tea. Mip was getting hungry. They were
scrubbing the paint off their hands when Mip noticed that Mop’s ocelot image had
changed.
Someone had written underneath it ‘Gorgeosa!’
Hey, that’s Silk !, Mop exclaimed. But where is he?
As they watched, another comment appeared scrawled underneath
the first one, then another. Their friends were here - sortof. They just
couldn’t see them.
6. ‘I guess we now know the point of doing that contacts thing’, Mop said as he scrawled a
question. They waited to see if there would be a reply. This means of communication
was so asynchronous, it was impossible to say when the reply would arrive. But sure
enough, it came: ‘You might be able to get a room at the Inn.’ It was Evangelist.
