1. Cutting out the front and back triangles
Monday, November 21, 11
What I did?
I used a pull saw to cut out the triangle,
because a tenon saw has the back on it, I
can’t cut all the way through. Also pull saw
is much faster than other saw. First I cut it
wrong because I forgot that I can’t cut on
an angle, and I should make the pencil line
90 degree to the bench hook. But then I
fixed it, so now it is good.
It is the mistake I made because I was cutting
in an angle, so the line wasn’t exactly straight.
I am going to use disc sander to sand that part
off, because it is too hard to cut with a saw.
The saw makes some of the wood stick out from
the original piece, so I need to sand then off
incase it will hurt my hand or somebody else’s.
also I can make the edges less pointy, it will look
better with round edges.
2. This is the front and back piece of
triangle for my project, they are pretty
similar, and I just need to sand them to
the same size. They are equilateral
triangles, so it doesn’t matter which side
faces which direction.
Changes to the plan
On my gantt chart, I am suppose to measure the other two sides of the triangles
now, but because we missed some lessons, so I am late for my schedule.
Emotion
I am happy that I am able to finish cutting the two triangles in 1 lesson, and it is
mainly because I used the pull saw, it increased the speed a lot.
What’s next?
Next I will disc sand the edges of the triangles to make them equal, and then I will
start to measure and mark out the two sides of the triangle. I think I will use
chipboard to do that.
Why?
I used a pull saw to cut it because the tenon saw can’t reach all the way to the
bottom, and also it is twice as fast as a tenon saw. The reason why to not cut
things on an angle is because if so then the piece you are cutting will not be a flat
surface, and it will just ruin the whole piece.
AOI-----ATL
It is related to ATL because I just remembered that when cutting I should never
cut on an angle. That was something we learned last year, but I forgot about that,
