2. I am not totally happy with the material I chose, because the pinewood I used to make the chick is too light, so the chick doesn’t really bounce. Next time I would like to choose a harder wood like oak.

3. The color scheme exactly what I expected. Some changes I would like to make is to change the size of the spring, because the spring I’m using now is too small, it doesn’t really bounce. I won’t use many pattern for colors.

4. 4114800791210The project took long time to make, because I have a lot to cut, especially the palm tree leaves. To make it quicker next time, I need to simplify the design, and work in a faster speed. It will change the cost of manufacture, because if I simplify the design, I will need less material to make it.

5. It will be easier if a company or manufacturer to set up a production line to make my project, because there will be more people working on my project at the same time. By the time when one worker finish the chick, the leaves and other parts will also be done.

6. I think my project is not very safe, because the palm tree leaves are sharp, and I didn’t file off the edges. I will have to sand the pointy parts of the leaves, so it will be safer. The reason why I didn’t sand it was because I already glued the chick on, so it will be hard for me to sand.

7. In this project, I used cutting, filing, drilling, gluing, screwing and painting techniques. I used many kinds of saws: pull saw, back saw, coping saw and junior saw. For power tool, I used cordless drill. For making the chick round, I shouldn’t use a rasp file, I should use coping saw to cut most of the edges off, and then file it.

8. I think kids around 5-7 would like it the best. I think it is not the right target market I was aimed for, because they leaves are sharp, so it is dangerous for little kids to play. Plus the little kids might pull the spring really hard, they might break it.

9. Other people that are my age said that my design is good, and I think so too. Because I spent lots of times on it, and the design is different from other people. The color is colorful, and I used rendering in it, I invented a new method of how to do rendering with paint. Which is to first paint the two colors on, and then use another brush to mix them together.

10. It kind of works, but not as well as I expected. The spring is not big enough, so it doesn’t really bounce up and down. Next time, I will use a bigger spring to make it, and file the edges better.

11. The project will teach the kids the color of chick and how the palm tree looks like. The kids will have fun with it.

12. In the design brief, I said “I am going to design a moving toy, that is about the size 300mm x 150mm x 150mm, and interesting for kids around 2-5. The toy will be a type of animal, so the kid can learn animals.” I achieved the target of making the toy a type of animal, and the size is good. However since I made the toys a bit dangerous for kids, the target market should be older kids.
