WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
This 3-day Master class workshop will provide participants with technical approaches to Cargo and Containers in the
shipping industry. Including investigation, analysis and formal procedures required when confronted with significant
marine losses - Cargo. The course encompasses tools and procedures that can be utilised both in preventative and
reactive circumstances.
This course is led by a Marine Engineering facilitator with over 20 years of experience in Marine Engineering, Cargo
Handling and Safety to Statutory Government bodies, Coronial Inquests and (Foreign Going and Cruise Ship class)
marine cargo Insurers worldwide. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the primary and strategic management
practices and explore them in depth through hands on exercises.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
James Gardiner is a Marine Engineering Surveyor. He is an independent expert in the Marine Engineering field predominately
dominating matters involving Foreign Going ships, Ports and vessels.This includes Oil/Gas offshore installations; machinery
failure investigation; propulsion and ship component integrity and failure.
He is a graduate of the International Institute of Marine Surveying MIIMS (UK). James holds a National Maritime Operations
Certificate - Coxswain in both Marine/Celestial Navigation and Engineering. James is a former student of the Australian Maritime
Collage, LauncestonTasmania. He holds a Diploma in Marine Surveying and certified by the Australian Maritime Collage in the
specialized fields of Ship Structure, Naval Architecture and Stability, Marine Engineering and Ship Safety Classification [IMO]
Surveying [Lloyds Maritime Collage Accredited UK]. He is a trade qualified MarineTechnician and member of the Forensic
Engineers Society of Australia. James is also a foreign going Flag State Marine Engineering Surveyor and statutorily appointed as a
Marine Inspector in Australian PortWaters.
He provides independent advice to multi-national industry leaders in the offshore/foreign going maritime industry in [OH&S]. He
has advised existing participants in the oil/gas, and the geotechnical drilling sector in areas including assessing Job Safety
Analysis [JSA], Standard Operating Procedures [SOP] andWork Safety Methods [WSM] regarding offshore gas and oil platform
installations in Australia, and throughout South East Asia.

  • 3. WHO SHOULD ATTEND James Gardiner is a Marine Engineering Surveyor. He is an independent expert in the Marine Engineering field predominately dominating matters involving Foreign Going ships, Ports and vessels.This includes Oil/Gas offshore installations; machinery failure investigation; propulsion and ship component integrity and failure. He is a graduate of the International Institute of Marine Surveying MIIMS (UK). James holds a National Maritime Operations Certificate - Coxswain in both Marine/Celestial Navigation and Engineering. James is a former student of the Australian Maritime Collage, LauncestonTasmania. He holds a Diploma in Marine Surveying and certified by the Australian Maritime Collage in the specialized fields of Ship Structure, Naval Architecture and Stability, Marine Engineering and Ship Safety Classification [IMO] Surveying [Lloyds Maritime Collage Accredited UK]. He is a trade qualified MarineTechnician and member of the Forensic Engineers Society of Australia. James is also a foreign going Flag State Marine Engineering Surveyor and statutorily appointed as a Marine Inspector in Australian PortWaters.
