• ADF contribution to the Australian-led Regional
Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI).
• assists in providing security, law and justice, economic
governance, and governance advice.
• military component of RAMSI includes troops from
Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Tonga.
• initial deployment in July 2003 was over 1400 personnel,
including 2 infantry companies, 2 Iroquois helicopters, &
2 patrol boats.
• following the April 2006 riots in Honiara, an additional
380 troops were deployed.
• Australia’s contribution currently consists of around 120
Australian soldiers (mostly from NSW’s 5th Brigade).

(ISF).
• at height in 2000-2002, ~1500 troops were deployed.
• currently 390 personnel from the ADF, including infantry, Black Hawk
helicopters, and engineers, communications and logistics personnel.
• mission to maintain security and train East Timorese Police and defence
forces.
OP TOWER
• ADF contribution to the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-
Leste (UNMIT).
• started in August 2006 in response to the urgent requirement for
international intervention.
• composed of only four ADF personnel, it is one of the ADF’s smallest
overseas missions.
