 Universal design is when products are made to
  accommodate everyone and are made so
  everyone can use them.
 In teaching, universal design is used to make

  lessons and activities accessible to every
  type of learner.
 Accommodation/differentiation
   Content is represented in multiple ways
    ◦ Audio
    ◦ Visual
    ◦ Manipulative
 Students can respond and answer questions in a
  variety of ways that are appropriate to their
  needs/learning styles.
 Variety of engagement based on what the

  students interests are
   Accommodate for all learners
    ◦ Braille for students with a visual impairment
    ◦ Visual aids
    ◦ Recorded text
 Adapt space for those with physical impairment
 Use a variety of teaching methods and activities
 Use the students interest to guide lesson planning
 Have the students discuss how technology could
  be adapted so everyone can use it.
 Discuss the importance of using technology to

  your students and why it is important that
  technology be accessible to everyone.
 Discuss what the students would do to adapt

  technology so that all could use it.
 What technology is available for those who need

  additional assistance?

  • 5.  Have the students discuss how technology could be adapted so everyone can use it.  Discuss the importance of using technology to your students and why it is important that technology be accessible to everyone.  Discuss what the students would do to adapt technology so that all could use it.  What technology is available for those who need additional assistance?
