INGGERIS
TINGKATAN 3
AIMS OF ENGLISH SYLLABUS
The English syllabus aims to extend learners’ English language proficiency in order to meet their needs for English in everyday
life, for knowledge acquisition, and for future workplace needs.
OBJECTIVES OF ENGLISH SYLLABUS
By the end of Form 3, learners should be able to:
i. make friends and talk about themselves, recount experiences and also enquire about the person(s) they are talking to;
ii. make enquiries about services, make a booking/appointment, and fill in an application form;
iii. socialise with friends and in groups make plans and arrangements for joint activities;
iv. obtain information from various text-types such as articles and reports and present the information briefly to others orally and
in writing;
v. read and enjoy poems and short stories;
vi. have a positive outlook and act appropriately in social situations; and
vii. show an awareness and appreciation of moral values and love towards the nation.

BAND PERNYATAAN STANDARD
1 Know fundamental skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
2 Understand meaning at word, phrase and sentence level.
3 Use knowledge acquired through listening, speaking, reading and writing.
4 Apply knowledge acquired in a variety of situations using some appropriate language conventions.
5 Demonstrate the ability to use language in a variety of situations using largely appropriate language
conventions.
6 Appreciate literary works and present ideas critically in an exemplary manner.

Listen to and understand a variety of texts of suitable length.

Participate in a conversation or discussion using appropriate vocabulary to link ideas when
describing, making comparisons and confirming information.
Listen and respond to a range of texts distinguishing between main and supporting ideas.

Recount and discuss events that took place using correct language forms and functions for
formal/informal settings.
Listen and respond to a wide range of texts by recognising and stating the implicit and
explicit messages in the texts.

Demonstrate good understanding of some oral texts by asking and answering questions and carry
out complex instructions.
Listen and respond to a wide range of texts by interpreting and evaluating.

Appreciate literary works by responding and giving opinions critically and relate them to one’s own
life
using one’s own words.
Listen to and process information in a long listening task effectively.

AIMS OF ENGLISH SYLLABUS The English syllabus aims to extend learners’ English language proficiency in order to meet their needs for English in everyday life, for knowledge acquisition, and for future workplace needs. OBJECTIVES OF ENGLISH SYLLABUS By the end of Form 3, learners should be able to: i. make friends and talk about themselves, recount experiences and also enquire about the person(s) they are talking to; ii. make enquiries about services, make a booking/appointment, and fill in an application form; iii. socialise with friends and in groups make plans and arrangements for joint activities; iv. obtain information from various text-types such as articles and reports and present the information briefly to others orally and in writing; v. read and enjoy poems and short stories; vi. have a positive outlook and act appropriately in social situations; and vii. show an awareness and appreciation of moral values and love towards the nation. 2 BAHASA INGGERIS TINGKATAN 3

BAND PERNYATAAN STANDARD 1 Know fundamental skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. 2 Understand meaning at word, phrase and sentence level. 3 Use knowledge acquired through listening, speaking, reading and writing. 4 Apply knowledge acquired in a variety of situations using some appropriate language conventions. 5 Demonstrate the ability to use language in a variety of situations using largely appropriate language conventions. 6 Appreciate literary works and present ideas critically in an exemplary manner. 3 BAHASA INGGERIS TINGKATAN 3

Listen to and understand a variety of texts of suitable length. 2 Talk appropriately on a variety of topics for oral interactions or presentations. Listen to a given text and tell what the text is about. 3 Participate in a conversation or discussion using appropriate vocabulary to link ideas when describing, making comparisons and confirming information. Listen and respond to a range of texts distinguishing between main and supporting ideas. 4 Recount and discuss events that took place using correct language forms and functions for formal/informal settings. Listen and respond to a wide range of texts by recognising and stating the implicit and explicit messages in the texts. 5 Demonstrate good understanding of some oral texts by asking and answering questions and carry out complex instructions. Listen and respond to a wide range of texts by interpreting and evaluating. 6 Appreciate literary works by responding and giving opinions critically and relate them to one’s own life using one’s own words.
