Viton is a fluoroelastomer introduced in 1957 for use in the aerospace industry. It has excellent thermal stability and chemical resistance, being usable between -30°C to 280°C. Viton exists as co, ter, and tetra polymers and is commercially available as granular powder or dispersions. It has many applications due to its heat resistance, strength, and resistance to chemicals, hydrocarbons, weathering and oxidation. Research has shown Viton can act as a thermally stable binder and be used to coat magnesium particles to increase their oxidation resistance.
2. Fluoroelastomers (Viton) are fluorine containing high performance rubber.
Firstly introduce in 1957 for Aerospace industry by DuPont.
It has good Thermal stability and chemical resistivity.
Use able between -300C to 2800C.

5. Researches:
1.Statical optimization of
microencapsulation process for
coating of magnesium particles
with Viton polymer.
Highlights:
By solvent method a surface of
magnesium particles particles is
modified with Viton.
FTIR, SEM and map analysis
techniques are employed to
characterize the coated particles.
An energetic polymer is used to
modify the surface of the
magnesium.
The results showed that the coating
of magnesium powder with Viton
leads to a higher resistance of metal
against oxidation.

6. 2. Thermal behavior and decomposition
kinetics of Viton A bonded explosives
containing attractive cyclic nitramines
Highlights:
This article revolves on effect of binder Viton A.
The effect of Viton A binder on thermal behavior of
cyclic nitramines been observed by using non
isothermal methods.
Viton A can behave as a thermo stable polymer.
As a thermo stable polymer Viton A can inhibit the
initial auto catalysis effect of cyclic nitramines.
TGA analysis was also done during this article
formulation.

7. Conclusions
Fluoroelastomers are thermally high performing polymer.
It is majorly use for O-rings, seals and other rubber items.
It is compactible with hydrocarbons but incompatible with ketone and organic acids.
At very high temperature (above 3000C) it decompose and may release HF.
