 PMB in wearing course can increase life of
pavement by 50 – 100%.
 Cost of road increases by 1.5 – 2.5% by using
PMB in place of conventional bitumen.
 Cost of PMB is 25% - 40% more than that of
conventional bitumen.
 Asphalt reinforcement interlayer(ARI) is a
combination of Glass Grid and Stress
Absorbing membrane interlayer(SAMI).
 Use of ARI can increase the Axle passes by 2
to 5 times.
 Cost of ARI is equivalent to 15mm to 25mm of
Bituminous concrete.
