A virtual learning environment (VLE) is a software system that allows instructors to manage online courses by providing tools for delivery, tracking, assessment, and access to resources. VLEs integrate these tools to enable remote learning and allow tutors and students to communicate, share content and materials, submit and receive feedback on assignments, and interact in discussion forums. While VLEs can replace physical classrooms, they also come with disadvantages like technical issues that disrupt communication between tutors and students. Overall, VLEs make the learning process more convenient by facilitating direct interactions and allowing students to learn at their own pace.
2. Is the collection of integrated tools
enabling the management of online
learning, providing a delivery
mechanismm, student tracking,
assesment and access to resources.
3. What tools are typically available for tutors in a VLE?
Learning Platforms,
What are the advantages for you, the tutor, in using a VLE?
We can get closer and share opinion, ideas, learning
materials and clear doubts.
What problems can a VLE solve for you? Short distances, clear
doubts, share information, delivering mechanism, etc.
What are the implications for tutors working on VLEs?
Evaluation, Professional developement, new pedagogical
aproaches etc.
4. We have this platform called UNO that works like
blackboard, we don’t use it regulary but we are
learning so we can do it in the future. We leave
homeworks, share contents, post videos, open
forums, etc. The girls can check this platform in the
classroom when we use the ipads so we can teach
them how to use it and supervise the process.
5. VLEs MLEs
Usually a specific piece of software Whole range of different software
Sepparated from an institutional system were concerned with whole institutional
systems
Integrated tools Uses different tools by separated ways
6. Evaluations, class list, notice board,
pending homework boards, search
engines, calendar, file upload area.
7. VLEs, this virtual learning environment, can be a new step for the educational processes of the
future, I consider them very important on our virtual learning process, I think non of us knew about
them even if we were using them since the beginning of this course and the truth is that they are
very useful. I think this kind of tools are going to replace school some day because of the fact that
more and more Universities are applying this online methods for people that can’t spend that much
time on school or travel from home to the classroom, also our new generations are adapting so
quick to online universe, this second reality that gets you closer to people from all the world, so this
would mean also a big change for learning institutions. Right now I'm taking a course online from
the UDLAP encouraged by my work, they have this tool called ‘Collaborate’ that its practically a
chat room where you can find the tutor- she is from Puebla- so this is like a virtual class room
where you can ask her – on a established schedule- a few questions about your assignments, works
and doubts about the content. This is very useful, the only thing that is not practical, as every
technological tool, is that this chat room has the disadvantage that sometimes doesn’t log in, so you
can loose your opportunity to talk to your tutor, but for me this is like a big change for schools,
maybe in the future the educational institutions won’t need a physical place to work with the
students and this will be replaced by just an office where the server keeps the platform up and
answer on time to the students and all that stuff. This can also give the student an individual
learning process, maybe by selecting a few different ways to transmit information, the student will
show improvement on the one that is easier for him and he could develop what he needs to
improve. VLEs are practical and make the learning process easier I was also reading that this needs
consideration of different dimensions and this could influence how we learn and how we organize
learning, this also permits more interactions with students, this may seem ironical because we are
far away from the teachers or not sharing the same geographical location, but using technology
makes us just go straight to the point, to ask just what we need, so this makes the process a bit
easier and faster than in a classroom.
