comparison to the
mood board that I
created during my
research and planning.
The use of this colour
palette that I have used
is very similar to those
featured within the
board. This allows the
genre to shine as it has a
lot of conventional
features.

THEORY POINT
THE USE OF THE SIMPLE TYPOGRAPHY COULD BE SEEN AS A FORM OF
POSTMODERNISM. THIS WOULD BE DUE TO ME USING AN IDEA THAT HAS
BEEN SEEN BEFORE WITHIN KANYE WEST’S AND THE WEEKND’S ALBUM
COVER, THEREFORE I HAVE RECYCLED THIS ELEMENT OF THEIR ALBUM
COVERS WITHIN MY WORK IN HOPES TO ATTRACT A SIMILAR, IF NOT THE
SAME AUDIENCE. I AM ESSENTIALLY REBRANDING THESE EXISTING IDEAS
WITHIN THIS NEW, FRESH PIECE OF WORK SO THAT I AM ABLE TO SUGGEST
THE SAME GENRE.
Here is the audience
feedback that I gained
when decided on my
fonts – as we can see
the font that was
chosen ‘built titling’
was a very simplistic
font, much like Kanye
West’s on his album
‘The Life of Pablo’.
Here are examples from my website and digipak of the same
typography used.

‘USES AND GRATIFICATION’ THEORY TO
THE TEXT
Theory point
Richard Dyer suggests in his ‘Star Theory’ that all public figures
are manufactured depending on what audiences want and we
never truly see the real, genuine ‘figure’ – therefore due to my
artists no being included within any of my products means the
theory is unable to be applied. Due to use not seeing the artist
what so ever we are unable to judge whether or not the artist is
a product that has been made, it could be suggested that in
fact due to ‘Benny J’ not being included that he is a rather
genuine star and that he does not want publicity – much like
the existing pop artist Sia who has not yet revealed her face
publicly.
• OVERALL, THE FLUIDITY BETWEEN MY ANCILLARY PRODUCTS AND MY MAIN TEXT WAS RATHER
DIFFICULT TO ACHIEVE DUE TO ME CHOOSING SUCH AN UNCONVENTIONAL SONG. IN HINDSIGHT,
THE CONTINUATION WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE EFFECTIVE IF I WAS TO CHOOSE A DIFFERENT SONG,
HOWEVER MY AIMS WERE TO CHALLENGE CONVENTIONS. THEREFORE, I BELIEVE I HAVE MADE THE
COMBINATION AS EFFECTIVE AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT AFFECTING THE TARGET GENRE. ELEMENTS
COULD HAVE BEEN MORE FLUID, FOR EXAMPLE MORE OF THE SETTING AND LOCATION USED
WITHIN MY VIDEO SHOULD HAVE BEEN FEATURED WITHIN MY ANCILLARY PRODUCTS. HOWEVER,
ON THE OTHER HAND, THE COMBINATION OF MY ANCILLARY PRODUCTS RAN WELL DUE TO THE
SIMILARITIES IN COLOUR SCHEME, CHARACTERS, TYPOGRAPHY AND SEMANTIC FIELDS.

ELEMENTS COULD HAVE BEEN MORE FLUID, FOR EXAMPLE MORE OF THE SETTING AND LOCATION USED WITHIN MY VIDEO SHOULD HAVE BEEN FEATURED WITHIN MY ANCILLARY PRODUCTS. HOWEVER, ON THE OTHER HAND, THE COMBINATION OF MY ANCILLARY PRODUCTS RAN WELL DUE TO THE SIMILARITIES IN COLOUR SCHEME, CHARACTERS, TYPOGRAPHY AND SEMANTIC FIELDS.
