PDHPE is an essential subject that promotes the benefits
of mental, physical, social and safe living.

2.  PDHPE Rationale:
The main goal of PDHPE is to instil in
others the knowledge, attitude and overall
life skills so as to promote a
healthy, responsible and positive outlook
on life for yourself and others.

3.  Benefits of PDHPE
 Mental Health: Self esteem, good values and
attitudes. Individual identity.
 Physical Health: Development of motor skills,
healthy eating, movement e.g. spatial awareness
 Social: Promotes cooperation, social skills,
communication

4. PDHPE develops healthy and positive
attitudes:
 Promotes individuality
 Healthy attitudes towards living
 Safety issues
 Promote living life to the fullest and
treating others with respect

5.  We need PDHPE because:
 Healthy lifestyle choices contribute to overall
health and relationships
 Encourages the promotion of social skills, valuing
the opinions of others and making informed
decisions for the benefit of yourself and others.
 Safe living preaches the benefits of road safety
and limits risk of dangerous behaviour.
