1. WHY PDHPE?
Personal development, health
and physical education
(PDHPE) focuses on building
student’s knowledge and
understanding, skills and
values and attitudes towards
living a healthy and active
lifestyle.
2. In PDHPE we don’t just play games! Students
also learn decision making, problem solving,
interacting, communication and movement
skills. These skills are developed throughout
learning about, active lifestyles, interpersonal
relations, personal health choices, safe living,
growth and development and participating in
dance, gymnastics, games and sports.
3. Personal Development!
Students will learn the physical, social, cognitive
and emotional growth and development that
occurs throughout their lives.
The development and maintenance of positive
interpersonal relations will be explored and taught
in PDHPE. Students will develop interaction skills
and broaden their knowledge of the importance of
positive interactions and relations with family and
peers to meet the individual’s needs for belonging
and security.
4. “A state of complete physical, mental
and social well-being”
Students will explore the factors influencing personal
health choices and the importance and advantages of
maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Students will also
broaden their knowledge of living and learning in a safe
environment.
5. Physical Education
The adoption of an active lifestyle
Physical education incorporates a greater variety
of activities; these valuable activities engage all
students’ at all different skill levels. These
activities focus on the fundamental movement
patterns and coordinated actions of the body
and the skills that enable action for better
health and movement outcomes.
