It is just too big a hindrance to stay in one place for 5 years because the world moves much faster than that. Champion Universities Governments champion a few mega- universities and fully fund them as strategic national assets. Enrollment is limited in traditional degree programs that are highly research-based. 4. Virtual Learning Labs A range of local and global learning private platforms and providers capture the market. On-demand micro-certificates dominate as technology disrupts the workplace. 3. Commercial Universities Governments require universities to be financially independent to ease national budget pressures. Students favor degree programs that offer work-integrated learning. Universities collaborate with industry on teaching and research. Private Sector Fluid life-long learning 2. Virtual University Labs Universities and vocational institutes collaborate in networks and share digital platforms offering unbundled courses and certificates.
