Editor's Notes
Since the crew embarked on 1 Aug WIN has:
Completed a 5 week IMSRT program administered by Sea Training (Pacific) which culminated in an assessment by D/CCFP and resulted in the ship achieving High Readiness status in early September
Concurrent to IMSRT, participated in Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 17-31 Aug with allies from around the Pacific
As part of RIMPAC, successfully completed a live missile firing wherein WIN fired 2 x surface-to-air missiles against an aerial target
Concurrent to IMSRT and RIMPAC, participated in the US Navy’s Submarine Command Course wherein WIN successfully fired 5 x exercise torpedoes and Rebel fired 2 x exercise torpedoes against US navy submarines and supported the training of the next generation of submarine captains
WIN departed the Hawaiian Island area on 7 Sep and is transiting to Guam for a brief fuel stop before carrying on to the Asia Pacific region ISO Op PROJECTION and NEON
Due to unforeseen circumstances WIN did not embark mail at our last port stop. Those parcels are not lost, rather they are being redirected to our next port of call. We truly appreciate the continued support of our loved ones back home and can’t wait to be re-united with our mail!
LCdr Amber Comisso, Executive Officer, HMCS Winnipeg
The crew of HMCS Winnipeg is always looking at ways to raise money for the ship’s charity, The Manitoba Firefighters Burn Fund
“Run for the Fund” is an initiative where teams of runners are running laps of the flight deck until they log 4,800km – or the distance from Esquimalt to the Winnipeg and back
If you’d like to sponsor a runner, team or simply donate to a good cause, be sure to check out the ship’s Go Fund Me page
Be sure to follow the ship’s social media pages for the latest updates, stories and photos!
Stories and imagery will be submitted whenever possible to The Lookout.
Imagery and highlights may also appear on RCN, CJOC and MARPAC social media feeds
Please help us tell our unique story!
