2. Położenie
∗ Nowa Słupia Municipality is
located in the northern part of
the Holy Cross and the eastern
part of the Kielce district Earth. It
borders the municipalities
Bodzentyn, Pavlov, he was not,
Lagow and Bieliny. Its area
includes the eastern part of
climax Łysogór bands of the Holy
Cross and a part of the western
part of the band Jeleniowskiego
municipality in the northern part
of the dominant point is Mt
Chełmowa. A large part of the
municipality lies in the zone of
protected areas and National
Park Świętokrzyski
Jeleniowskiego Park.
3. Góra Chełmowa
In 1920 on the slopes of Chełmowa
Mountain the nature reserve, which became
the beginning of the Świętokrzyski National
Park, was established. At present the
reserve is included in the Park as the
separate enclave. In the area of the reserve
there are natural sites of the Polish larch.
Some growing here larches are over 300
years old. Almost 90 species of birds and a
lot of colonies of ants live in the reserve.
4. Gołoborze
∗ The Świętokrzyskie boulder fields
were created as a result of
weathering of the late Cambrian
quartzite sandstones in the period
of the Quaternary. The main factor
of the boulder fields creation was
the climate, i.e. changes of
temperature - freezing and
thawing of the background;
freezing of water in the cracks and
fractures causing the
disintegration of rocks. The name
'gołoborze' refers only to the
Świętokrzyski region. The
'Gołoborze' became the symbol of
the Świętokrzyskie Mountains.
5. Muzeum Starożytnego Hutnictwa
Świętokrzyskiego
∗ It is the only institution of this type in
Poland. The museum in Nowa Słupia is a
branch of the Museum of Technology in
Warsaw. It is named after professor
Mieczysław Radwan, a metallurgist and
historian, researcher of the history of the
Świętokrzyskie metallurgy and the history
of the Old Polish Industrial District, the
discoverer of the Świętokrzyskie
dymarki .The museum was created in the
place in which the remains of the
smelting of iron originating from the
period from the 1st to the 3rd centuries
were discovered. The exhibition is
devoted to the history of examinations of
the ancient Świętokrzyska metallurgy,
with paying attention to the research
methods and achieved results.
6. Pielgrzym Świętokrzyski - Emeryk

reaches the top, the end of
the world will come.
7. Droga Królewska
∗ It is the oldest road, in the pre-Christian
times it led to the peak of Łysiec from
Nowa Słupia. For centuries this trail was
the only approach to the monastery for
the numerous pilgrims as well as
merchants. In the 19th century in its
upper part just below the summit the
road was paved. From the initiative of the
abbot Michał Maliszewski along the
'Royal Road' at the turn of the 16th and
the 17th centuries the Stations of the
Cross were built. Recently they were
reconstructed beautifully. Polish kings
stayed on Święty Krzyż many times.
8. Schronisko młodzieżowe
∗ The School Youth Hostel 'Pod
pielgrzymem' in Nowa Słupia is one
of the oldest in Poland. It was built
in the years 1937 - 1939 as the model
for the lodging objects intended for
secondary school children. It is a
wooden building on the stone
foundation. In 1939 the Germans
occupied this new building. The
gendarmerie station was located
here. Over 200 people spent here
the last hours of their lives before
being executed by firing squad on
the edge of the nearby forest, where
the mass grave is at present.
9. Głośne czytania nocą
∗ The tradition of it that are 5
years old are held „Głośne
czytania nocą”. We owe the
mayor and Ms. Viola Purska.
There are often read poetry,
prose, but also sung the song.
Meetings are always on the lead.
The last of them were traveling,
was a guest of honor is Robert
Makłowicz - an excellent cook,
journalist, traveler. Meetings
always gather a large number of
guests.
10. Muzeum Przyrodnicze
∗ The Natural History Museum of the
Świętokrzyski National Park on
Święty Krzyż is located in the
building constituting the part of the
monastic buildings of the former
abbey of Benedictine monks. The
museum was created in 1972. The
museum exhibition was divided into
a few basic departments. The
exhibition includes the departments:
archaeological, geological, of floras
of the park, of invertebrate and
spinal fauna, and it begins with the
model of the area of the
Świętokrzyski National Park and its
surroundings.
11. ∗ Landscape
∗ The Swiętokrzyskie are the oldest mountains in Poland, dating back 400–520 million years. Their present
appearance was created by movements of the Earth around 300 million years ago. Long ago there was sea
here and much evidence of rich life forms was preserved in the rocks, including fossil traces of animals and
plants. Around two million years ago the range was covered by a glacier.
∗ Flora
∗ The Park is famous for its trees, of which 674 are regarded as monuments of nature and as such are under
protection. Park’s authorities successfully managed to reintroduce yew trees here - now there are around
1300 of them. Most of Park’s area is forested, mainly with pines and beeches. Fir trees are less numerous as
well as forests of mixed oak-fir character. Among the Park’s curiosities we must emphasize the endemic,
unique only for this area, fir wilderness and areas of Polish larch on Chełmowa Góra.
Fauna
∗ Park’s fauna is represented by more than 4000 species of invertebrates and 210 species of
vertebrae (including 187 protected). One of local animal’s life most precious features is the
fact that many of species are of mountainous kind. These usually thrive in the strictly
protected areas and deep in the forests.

13. Folklore
∗ In ourfor commune it is
developing folklore. It came
into existence a dancing group
- "Świętokrzyskie Diabliki"
which it is appearing on the
important celebrations for
example Dymarki
Świętokrzyskie. In previous
years came a lot of the
farmer's wievs' associations so
as; "Koło Gospodyń wiejskich
Mirocice", "Chełmowianki”.
These teams are refearring
otrher ancient culture which
was in our region
14. Sanktuarium na Świętym Krzyżu
∗ Sanktuarium Relikwii Drzewa Krzyża
Świętego- sanctuary located on the Holy
Cross (Bald Mountain)in the Holy Cross
Mountains, in the Diocese of Sandomierz ,
the oldest Polish sanctuary. Date of
establishment of the abbey of the
Benedictines on Bald Mountain is not
known. Benedictine tradition attributes the
foundation Boleslaus the Brave in 1006
year. It is certain that the monastery was
founded in the first half. Twelfth century by
Boleslaw Boleslaw , initially pw. Holy Trinity
Church in the fifteenth century. Holy Cross.
The chapel is stored Oleśnicki significant
portion of the relics of the Holy Cross
donated by Emeric , Prince of Hungary.
Since 1936 it houses a monastery and
novitiate of the Missionary Oblates of Mary
Immaculate .
