2. Why is it important to have a back cover?
Basically, you need somewhere to show the potential buyer what is on the CD, its
important that the back cover has a track list. It is also important due to the barcode
situation, without a back cover the barcode would have to go onto the front.
It also is important when giving the album a personal and professional feel, because
humans are attracted to sights rather than the inside we do in fact ‘judge books by their
covers’ unfortunately.
However in recent times the need for back covers have become significantly reduced
due to the immense amount on iTunes, which only shows the front cover as opposed to
the whole album, therefore the need for this has diminished slightly, although aside
from Kanye West, (there’s always one) all artists release a hard copy of their album
rather than just online.
