2. The front cover…
This is a midshot of Hannah wearing her burgundy hat which she will be seen wearing in the actual music
video of the song ‘Afterglow’. As this is the main song which is well known by audiences of the album I
feel it is important to use something they are familiar with so they recognise this is the album for
Wilkinson's songs. I have also used this approach when naming the album, ‘smoke and lazers’ as this is a
lyric from the song Afterglow and may also mean that buyers will recognise the song and choose to by the
album. I feel using a mid shot/close up is important as it allows the audience to see the emotions of the
actor in this case. Also, Hannahs eyes will be looking down the camera lense, which will make the
audience feel that she is looking straight at them, possibly making them feel intrigued enough to pick up
the album and purchase it.
3. This is the picture I will use for the CD compartment and the CD itself. This
image was taken on my camera phone whilst I was at Wireless festival
watching a dance act. I feel this image is successful as it gives the
definition of the CD’s name ‘smoke and lasers’ in a picture. The picture
includes both laser lights and smoke and also captures people dancing
together and enjoy themselves (One of the contrasting narratives in my
music video).
4. This a drawing of Hannah with her hands covering her face as the alcohol she has
drunk has made her feel ill and confused about where she is and what she is doing. I
plan to use this as an image in my digipak as I will be using many shots of Hannah
holding her face in her hands in the actual music video. This again could allow the
audience to make a connection between the music video for Afterglow and also the
CD which has many other songs on it. The colour of this picture will be taken in lowkey lighting to give the feel of the negative sides of alcohol. This image will also
contrast the previous picture taken at the festival where everyone is together having
fun, Where as Hannah is alone and not having fun at all. The two pictures will
reinforce the narrative of the music video for Afterglow via the CD.
5. This would be the back of the digipak. This is a drawing on Hannah with her back to
the camera and holding her hat in her hand. The songs and what number they are
can be found next to the image. Possible colours of the text will include, black,
grey, white or purple. This will be decided later, when I have chosen the colour
scheme of my poster which will advertise the song.
