2. Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman
DigiPak
I like this digipak is good because it is very basic and simple, The artwork
on the artwork is black and white image this continues through the rest of
the album, it's pretty cool how ariana's ears stick out of the frame creating
depth and also inside the cover there is another black and white photo of
the artist. Both images use a bold black accessory which immediately
catches your eye (the ears and the black glove). The CD artwork is also
dark making it stand out from the bright background. The simple bold font
is used to represent the theme of a dangerous woman giving indication of
her power, but the colours get swapped as the font is right.
3. Ariana Grande Website
The site uses a similar tone as the album cover and uses black and white colour scheme
throughout. It uses the "dangerous woman" font at the top of the page for information.
4. Ariana Grande - Into you music video
In the music video "into you" they use a variety of locations, at the start
ariana is in the desert on a motorcycle with someone presumably a
boyfriend figure , after this she is in a hotel, a hotel room and then the last
location is a nightclub.
Each setting there is a different costume for example when she is on the
bike she is wearing a leather jacket and jeans whereas when she is in the
desert she is just wearing shorts with a bra and a jacket. Then when she is
in the club she is wearing a dress.
There is a variety of camera work used such as close ups of both charaters
faces. Wide shots of the singer, also establishing shots of each location as
it comes up during the music video. There are also a lot of handheld shots
where the shot is more jittery to make the relationship feel more real and
this reflects the emotions between the two.
5. Ariana Grande - How are they linked?
The three products are connected through theme and style used within
these products, the font stays the same in all of the products. The digipak
and the website are very similar colours and theme mostly black and white.
6. Shawn Mendes -
Illuminate digipak
The digipak for this album focuses on blue and green, The front cover is just Shawn Mendez
with nothing around him to keep focus. I also think this could be to suggest maybe loneliness.
The font is simplistic and subtle, soft to the eye to give the audience an idea of what the sound
of the music will be like and maybe what shawn is trying to represent, this gives a much more
direct and personal impact.
7. Shawn Mendes - Website
The website uses a similar colour scheme throughout focussing on dark greens,
blues and black. The font used is the same as the font on the front cover.
8. Shawn mendes - Treat you better
music video
The music video uses the same costumes for characters depite the fact they are using
separate location.
There are 2 main locations one is where shawn is staying and the other is where the girl
is staying
Throughout the video there are two short stories happening and , there is a lot of cross
cutting between the two characters and the lyrics match with the visuals for example he
says i know i can treat you better and the visuals show a boy mistreating the girl
character
There is also a variety of camera angles, many close ups of shawn and of the woman
showing how they're both in a lot of pain.
Shawn Mendes - how are they linked
The video is linked to the website and digipak through the use of colours, in the music
video there is constantly dark colours that are used on the album cover and on the
websites. costumes are also similar to the ones worn in the music video. The digipak is
linked to the website through the use of colours and graphics.
9. The Weeknd
The lyrics to the weeknd's song "Starboy" say "look what you've done" are
presented by cuts to narrative of him breaking up awards and furniture
which could give the idea he doesn't like his past work and is also shown
at the start where he kills what is suppose to be the old version of himself
with his old haircut and reappears with a new look. In addition on the front
of the digipak he has his head in his hands , the camera tracks him to make
sure the focus is of him. this is also reflected in the website where it shows
him performing. The location of the music video is in his house where he is
breaking everything the 'old him' has a different costume to the new him
which is more dangerous and endearing suggesting that is who he is now.
10. G-eazy
In the music video 'Me, Myself and I' the lyrics are ' i just need space to do
me' as this is said the music video cuts to the narrative of him walking
through a party alone with him as the main focus of the shot, this focus on
him is maintained throughout both the digipak and his official website as
well as being shown through movement of the camera. The website and
the Digipak have a black and white theme. The one location in this music
video is the party however in the party he moves to the bathroom and and
talks to different versions of himself showing his mental struggle, because
it is set at a party there is one costume for continuity.
