Scenario
Movie Mania, a new film magazine aimed at a target market of 16 to 25 year olds plans to go into production in summer 2015.
The magazine will be published both online and in print. You have been commissioned to research and write an article about
genre analysis and auteur theory. The magazine wishes to cover a range of genres which appeal to young people and so your
article should be pitched accordingly.

Task 1
Write a feature article which explains and demonstrates genre analysis & auteur theory and the different
approaches to analysing film. Your article will cover genre analysis and auteur theory, as well as narrative
conventions and issues with representation.
Remember to apply the techniques developed during classroom workshops and screenings.
Remember that you are trying to apply approaches to analysing films critically, supporting points with
arguments and elucidated examples and consistently using subject terminology correctly. In addition you
will present an analysis of a media product with supporting arguments and elucidated examples, and
