Final Evaluation of Music Video Emily Aldred
1. Final Evaluation Of ‘Hey Brother’
Music Video Emily Aldred
For my final edit I will evaluate the music video and compare
the changes I have made to my rough edit. Again, I worked with
my partners in crime, Shauna Leacy and Sarah Murray to shoot
footage. After finishing my rough edit, I then went on to change
some features to improve them, then uploaded the video to
YouTube.
The first thing I changed was the train arriving and the brother
boarding the train, the rough edit was over-lapped so two shots
contrasted each other. I changed it to two shots on their own,
so no overlapping. The next thing I changed was the fading to
black after the sister walked down the ramp at the tram station.
This shot originally carried on played until the next verse but I
thought with the song slightly fading, it would suit the footage
fading to.
The next thing I changed was the footage of the scenery to a
sepia/black and white setting as I thought it separated the
brother/sister footage apart from the scenery shots, making it
easier to watch. I also sped the footage of the Manchester
Wheel up a bit more so there was clarity on seeing the wheel
move more.
The next footage I changed was the brother/sister walking
towards the camera with a low angle so it looked like they are
walking at the same pace with the same foot picking up where
the last footage left.
I removed the footage of the sister clapping along in time to the
beat as it was the wrong setting and we had other footage to
put in its place. I also shortened the clips of the brother sat on
steps in town and they went on for too long and got a bit boring.
2. The next changed footage I did was the road sign at the point in
the video where the brother/sister eventually meet up. I
changed the original footage to two different shots of the sign,
one wide shot the other a close up shot. I then went on to
change the clip of the brother and sister walking to the side of
the house. I cut the clips to make them jump a little forward
each time as watching them walk was boring and didn’t fit with
the song.
Overall I changed some clips to fit more in time with the song,
this gave me more room to edit other clips with effects which
would also fit more in time with the song and less boring.
