UHSMNHS Foundation Trustaims to be a leading NHS organisation and ongoing good
energy management is a vital part of improving the efficiency of our organisation, for the
benefit of patients and staff.
By continuing the work we began in 2007 wewill be able act as an example of exceptional
Carbon Management leadership within the NHS and the communities that weserve.
We aim to achieve this by reducing the carbon emissions fromour building energy use,
fleet and business travel, refrigerantgas, waste and water by 20%, froma 2012/13 baseline
by the end of March 2020.

UHSM recognises that energy consumption is necessary for the
provisionof health care services, but also realises that it has a
responsibilityto minimise and reduce energy consumptionand costs in
order to adequatelydischarge its statutory and mandatoryobligations.
