1. QUESTION 6
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT
ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FROM
THE PROCESS OF
CONSTRUCTING THIS
PRODUCT?
2. TECHNOLOGIES USED
While producing my music magazine I
found myself using several different
technologies for my research, planning
and evaluation into what would be most
effective for my target group. This
consisted of…
• WhatsApp
• YouTube
• Microsoft PowerPoint
• Photoshop
• Lighting equipment
• Canon 600D camera
• IPhone 7 camera
3. INTERNET
I used the internet for a substantial amount of my
production, I especially used it for the research
parts of the production for example looking at
music magazines that already exist in order to
see what I need to include in my magazine I
especially looked at billboard and vibe magazine
as these are similar to the genre that I was trying
to do, I used some features from their magazines
in order to make my production look eye catching
and effective.
I also used the internet to upload all my work onto
my blog to show my progress throughout the
production. Slide share, slide boom and Prezi I
found the best for uploading my evaluation
PowerPoints as this was clear and easy way of
showing a lot of information in one place. By
doing this made my final outcome a lot more
realistic in the way that it could be compared next
to similar magazines that already have a huge
audience and are well known.
4. MICROSOFT POWERPOINT
When completing my production I
found that I started to need
PowerPoint in order to present my
work easily and clearly. I chose
PowerPoint as I have used it before
so I didn't need help from tutorials.
I found this the best way for my
evaluation as it was clear and laid out
nicely it also allowed me to compare
my old production to my new
production.
I found that the presentation was
presented to a high quality as I knew
my way around the programme which
enabled me to present my
presentation effectively.
5. LIGHTING
In my production I used different shades
of lighting to achieve a more effective
and interesting image I took different
images at different angles this changed
the amount of lighting that was on the
image.
I found that by using tutorials helped me
to set up each piece of equipment and
how to achieve different outcomes. At
the start of the production I felt that
natural lighting would be better to create
the effects that I wanted but as I worked
more on the production I found that it
was actually better to use artificial
lighting as I wanted a shadow created on
some of my images I felt that my images
were more professional mainly also
using a high key lighting effect.
Natural lighting
No shadow from
lighting
Shadows
created by
artificial light
6. PHOTOSHOP
Before this production I had not used Photoshop, I found this a challenge due to not knowing
what each tool done and how to improve mu images, to overcome this I watched many tutorials
in order to achieve a high quality product that was eye catching.
Through these tutorials I effectively learnt how to use each tool to my benefit, the main tool that
was most useful to me was making the image pop and be more eye catching by adding in light
and toning the background this enabled me to work on making the best product that I could.
Below is an image that I edited before and after to make it more eye catching I the images you
can see that I have cropped the image to make it bigger on the page this makes the image more
bold and effective…
7. IN CONCLUSION
I found that all in all technology has been a huge part of my upcoming production, I have
used technology in every step of my project and it has helped me massively achieve an
effective piece of work. This is clearly shown in the overall presentation as without using
technology my production wouldn’t be as professional or similar to other magazines.
However, not only did technology help me with my production but I have also leant a few
things that will help me in the future such as Photoshop, I was able to present my skills
through this project and it helped my with a better end result and I strongly believe that this
wouldn’t be possible without technology.
