Otmar Gutmann was a German television producer, animator and director who is best known for creating the stop-motion claymated children's series Pingu. Pingu centered around a family of penguins in Antarctica and had no spoken dialogue, instead using a made-up penguin language. It aired from 1986 to 2006 across six seasons and 157 episodes, becoming a cult hit for its unique animation and ability to be understood globally.
