draft 2

AUDIENCE EVALUATION
SURVEY CONDUCTED BY ED THOMSON
Just over 50% answered yes
which confirms our
predictions that
Shatterproof and Noir films
in general are targeted
towards a niche audience.
This shows that this genre is
not going to be liked by
everyone and will not please
a mainstream audience
which a comedy film most
likely would. This proves that
our methods of exhibition –
through film festivals would
be the most appropriate
method for us to use.
Appealing factors of
a trailer
Over 60% voted for stars/famous actors as the
main attraction to a film, as shatterproof is an
independent film with unknown actors, this puts
us at a huge disadvantage.
The second highly voted appealing factor is
narrative – the plot must be interesting for
people to enjoy the film.
The least appealing aspect of a trailer is the
soundtrack – showing that maybe the audio is a
weak point of the trailer and could be improved
in the next draft.
Roughly 70% of the
responses said they
would like to see
Shatterproof – this
shows that our trailer
was effective.
However, just over 30%
voted that they would
not like to see
Shatterproof - which is
slightly disappointing
but understandable due
to the fact it is targeted
towards a niche rather
than mainstream
audience.
Direction has been voted the top
reason for people wanting to see
Shatterproof – showing the trailer
was effective.
Narrative and genre are joint
second.
Acting and soundtrack are joint
last showing that these two
elements are weaknesses of the
trailer.
It is clear that a clearer
narrative and better/more
realistic acting is needed.
However, nobody voted that
the narrative was
uninteresting which is a
positive!
